Wow. 26 yard field goal ends up outside the freaking net because of the wind.

Yes, I am pretty much drunk right now and rooting against the Packers. I never knew there was an Ale that was 10% alcohol.

HECKERT TO DETROIT?
Posted by Mike Florio on December 28, 2008, 1:44 p.m.

With G.M. Martin Mayhew and COO Tom Lewand likely to stay put in Detroit (to the absolute delight of long-suffering Lions fans), a name that has surfaced as a potential candidate to join the front office is Eagles G.M. Tom Heckert.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Heckert could indeed be heading to Detroit.

Last year, Heckert was a finalist for the G.M. position in Atlanta, and he actually received a recommendation for the position from Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.

Two years earlier, the Eagles scrambled to persuade Heckert not to join former Philly offensive coordinator Brad Childress in Minnesota, giving Heckert the G.M. title and, presumably, more money.

But now that Howie Roseman has acquired a stronger voice in the organization, the Eagles seem to be willing to let Heckert walk.

With Heckert, the Lions could have a Vikings-style “triangle of authority,” which has worked well enough to not yet deliver a playoff appearance in Minnesota.

Dola .. I only would endorse Heckert to Detroit if it meant he brought Spagnaulo with him.

The Bills smurfed that up.....

They kind of scuffled around and got in shoving matches as the half ended, blowing a chance at a last play...

And there were whistles blowing...yet the clock ticked down....And the RB ran off the field with the ball for some reason instead of trying to set it for another play.

Weird.

Carolina has been dominant vs the Saints today. They struggled in the red zone early, only up 9-3 after their first 3 possessions. They break it open with a touchdown to go up 16-3, then return a fumble on the next kickoff for another TD to blow it open. 23-3 Panthers now with just a little time left in the first half.

I actually want the Eagles to make the playoffs to spite the idiot Eagle fans that were calling for Kolb. Of course they'll all be back in McNabb's corner again, but that's kind of been his relationship with them....I wish he could have spent his career somewhere else.

Wonder why the Lions will be 0-16?

3rd and 15 for GB with 1:20 left, Lions have 2 TO, they don't call one. GB picks up 7, and Lions still don't call a TO.

Pack run the clock off and boom a punt and Lions run up the middle and leave the field.

0-15 and you have two timeouts plus the ball at the half and you don't try and do something?

Colston makes a very good catch for a TD with 40 seconds left in the half to cut the Panther lead to 23-10.

watched it on Tivo. Looks like two browns hit him, one basicly jumping on top of him while he was falling back, and his head hit first. Concussion maybe?

Just switched to the game on sunday ticket. No info on the play yet but he's being immobilized. They just said he's been down on the field for 13 minutes and is just now being put on a stretcher.

Mason Crosby just missed a 69 yard free kick to end the half. He could've made kicking with the wind, probably with 5 yards to spare, but kicking against it he didn't have much chance. I was shocked he came as close as he did.

Immobilized, facemask taken off his helmet, and put on a stretcher.

Roethlisberger gives the crowd a thumbs up though as he's taken off the field.

Watching the replays, the back of his head slams the field pretty hard.

I've always been behind McNabb, and I'm willing to bet this is true of a significant percentage of Eagles' fans. It's just his detractors are generally more vocal. In my opinion, he is the best QB the Eagles have ever had, and I will be very sad whenever his era ends, and hope that it isn't after this year.

Looks like the real Raiders came out to start the second half. Can;t hold on to an interception, give up a big touchdown play, nearly fumble away the kickoff...

Calvin Johnson scores his 2nd TD of the game to tie it up (assuming the XP is made) at 14 all.

Megatron is no doubt the best WR after the catch in the NFL. He does the same things Steve Smith does with the ball in his hands, except he's 6'5" and 240 lbs. It's absurd.

I am also going to take this time to say that next season Megatron officially becomes the best WR in the NFL.

He has 70 grabs, 1200 yards and 12 TD as of right now on an 0-15 in which 5 different QB's have thrown him passes.

That is absurd.

How big a fine/suspension for the Brown who left his feet and landed on top of him? $10K? $25K? 1-2 games?

i wasn't aware there was a penalty for leavin your feet. Although, it is the NFL so I'm guessing there could be something written up on the back of a matchbook or something.

You can't leave your feet to hit a player who can't defend himself (The Rodney Harrison Rule).

I love it, short FG goes through the goalposts, and then skids all the way outside the net.

Might as well add the "can't challenge the spot if the play didn't result in a first down" to the horrible rules thread. Texans get an extra 2 yards on the spot to set up 4th and inches, rather than 4th and 2 or 3. They go for it and get it...time to see if the Bears can hold.

Maybe if the AFC punter doesn't go to the Pro Bowl, Cassell can make it at that position instead? Must be nice to finish the year with a 57 yard net average
