How do you sign free agents? Or do we have to wait until the league is activated?

Also, does the creator of the league have to activate it? If not, when in the world will it happen?

I think it says that the league will start 2 days after activation

Yeah, I'm just wondering when it will be activated.

As for my other question:

New Owner - How do you place a claim for a player on the free agent list?

12 Posts Posted - 01/29/2003 : 06:12:35

during the postseason period, claiming free agents is disabled.

when enabled, there is a little blue box with a white "C" in it to the left of the player's name. click this blue box and you will get an edit window for making an offer.

I don't think we can sign free agents yet, I tried to figure that out as well. The schedule hasn't been posted yet so either the league creator has to activate the league somehow or we're just still waiting.

Here's something else:

http://www.csfbl.com/trades.asp

Trades aren't supported. It mentions some leagues allows 'trades' to occur where the teams involved drop players into free agency and the teams involved in the trade can pick them up. It's on the honor system and if someone decides to be a jackass and pick up a player who is supposed to be traded that way, no one can/will do anything about it.

So the question is, do we want to support trades like this, on the honor system?

I would like to have trades, but the hard part would be having everyone know that that player on Free Agency is a part of a trade.

How long does it take after the league fills to become active? Then after that how long til we begin games?

The league becomes active shortly after it is full. After it is full how soon you start to play games depends on the frequency of games per day of your league, for the exact time remaining to your first game just go to your league link from your team menu and it will tell you the hours remaining.

The league is on a countdown now.

Using the league message board and playing on your honor would allow trades of players and draft picks.

I believe you email trades and it takes about 3 days for them to post them manually.

Site says 40 hours til the games begin.

There are a few free agents now: It took some searching, but free agents pick a team based on: Your bid, your overall team salary - the lower the more likely they feel they would get more money in the future and the competition at their positions.

Just an iteresting note, my team has four guys named Winthorp out of my top 25. We should have been called the Victorville Winthorps.

Has anyone figured out how long we get to drive up the value of the 3 quality free agents before they decide to accept an offer?

Hey, that 20 yr old ShortStop came from my team. I already have a 24 yr old SS, so I figured I needed to get lower for the draft.

bastard! How much did he go for? He was valued at like 1.1 million, I went as high as 2 million on him but I wasn't willing to go triple the value on him. Hopefully I can land one of the other ones though

I was planning on playing him right away if I got him, he looks really talented. I have no insight though on what impact playing someone so young might have on him.

My lack of knoweldge on things led me to be afraid of bumping up his price too much. I was afraid if I dump $10 million into a couple of free agents, my spending on the minors and player improvement would drop so much that I'll be screwed long term because of it, so I pretty much gave up on the SS and hope to land the 3B that's out there now.

I'm inordinately excited about this league It looks like it has the potential to be a ton of fun if there is enough to do to keep people interested.

Keep him there in the low minors if you can. Players develop MUCH faster there than in AAA or the ML.

Yeah, for some reason I'm really excited about this all. I think it has to do with it's just FOFCers and if you suck, the next season starts in only 4 weeks since we sim 8 games a day.

You named the team the Phlegm just for that one joke, didn't you?

Going for the series win shortly over the Extreme after lucking out with a 3-1 victory on only 4 hits...

My team has given up 18 earned runs in 3 games. What sucks about that is that I created the team with the settings geared towards pitching over hitting. Might be a long season.

I have no idea what to think of mine yet. I tried to build for speed and contact hitting, and finesse/control pitching, virtually no power from my bats or my pitchers, to go along with my stadium of max dimensions, we'll see how that works out when I start playing some home games

I built my team for hitting and speed. While we are hitting alright, our pitching has got us off to a nice 2-0 start. That and 4 stolen bases in our first game 3 by one guy.

Woohoo! A 6 run 10th inning gives the Atlanta Grandes a 9-4 win and a 2-1 edge in its first 3 game set of the year, on the road no less!

3 more on the road today
