Ok, regardless if he spit or not.. shouldn't Pittman get punished for the hit anyway?

I guess then both should have been ejected but for sure not only Taylor.

If he did indeed spit, he deserved the ejection. On the other hand, giving a guy a head slap after a play is over IS a fifteen yard penalty. At worst, those penalties should have offset. Please note, I'm not saying Taylor is right, that I wouldn't slap someone who spit in my face, or anything of the sort. Rules are rules though. A slap after the play is a slap after the play and it doesn't matter the reasoning. |

I agree, even if he did spit, Pittman should have been penalized for the head slap as well.

Nope, not terrible. But this isn't exactly a "special" performence to this point either. He's being smart. He's taking the underneath stuff open to him and he's hitting on some passes. Yet, he's at 6 yards per pass attempt. He threw an INT which gave up a TD. And he's gotten a couple of those receivers nearly killed on the underneath routes because he isn't testing Washington more than ten yards down the field. He's playing a solid, unspectacular game. . . just the type of game Tampa needs him to play to win the football game. Lets not act as though he's doing any "leading" or playing spectacular to this point though. |

When a team throws this many short passes of this type, the other team usually has one or two chances in the game for a a pic six. As I say that, he throws his longest pass of the game. Impressive throw there. Very impressive. |

Yeah, easily his best play of the game. He actually avoided a couple of sacks before getting a nice one off. |

EDIT: Not saying he is not playing a solid game today, but comparing Simms to Smith who is surrounded by ZERO talent is very unfair.

Not spectacular game... but doing what is needed to win it. Give me 100 QB's playing ugly to win than a M.Vick spectacle to lose. He had some stupid sacks for big loses, but not playing bad at all imho, he is moving the ball as he is supossed to do.

I would have to agree. 4th and 1, 90 percent of the time you should power run ... and in the 4th quarter of a playoff game, that should be like 99 percent of the time. |

I just don't understand why Portis is not in the game right now.

Makes two of us. I also don't understand why they did exactly what was expected there. Run, Run, third and long, pass. I don't like that series at all. To much time left to worry about the clock. If you're going to run, run it with Portis. If you're going to pass at all, do it on first or second down. |

Um, maybe if Chris Simms wanted to bait Carlos Rogers into hitting him, as shown by that "bring it on" gesture, he should've stayed in fucking bounds.

Football Gods are pissed.
Taunting players as you go out of bounds? Penalty: two incomplete passes, including the worst pass of the night on second down. |

Illegal motion. Easy call here.
edit: ummm, ok. formation? You didn't see Portis do the jab step two seconds before the ball was snapped? Great reffing there. Portis with a huge run there. Last edited by TroyF : 01-07-2006 at 06:16 PM. |

"Should have caught it"
WHAT THE HELL IS THE GUY WATCHING? There are two calls with that play: 1) Brunell acting like a rookie QB throwing across his body in his own territory with a seven point lead. . . 'DOH 2) The great INT. Yet somehow he found a way to blame the WR for that. |

And Theismann:
It doesn't hurt you that bad? WHAT, AM I IN BIZZARO WORLD HERE? Yeah, Simms just threw a TD pass and the idiot dropped it. But now it's 4th and 10 instead of 4th and 5, and the penalty doesn't matter? |

Skins only have 130 total yards of offense. Anyone know what is the smallest amount of total yards a team had when winning a playoff game?
