Great line from a great movie.

The director's commentary on that scene was pretty funny. Phillips was saying that David Spade had said he went to see it and wasn't all that jazzed about it - then that scene came about and he knew he was in good hands.

My opinion on name calling this week on FOFC is that there is zero tolerance for the traditional slams you called your buddies growing up. This is good in many ways as it will induce the community to come up with more creative ways to describe things and people. For example:

Someone is trolling. I can call them kangaroo rectal fluid. Or beetle jism. Or moldy monkey spunk. Or dirty ninja diahrrea.

As a result of this week, I predict everyone will be more creative in the future describing their lives.

You've been around since 2002; this wasn't the first HA boxing of your lifetime on FOFC.

well technically i´ve been lurking since 2002 but i didn´t start posting till 04 or something like that. lost my password for my account and the email i set it up with back in 02 and never could get SD to send it to me for the longest time till finally for some reason he did.

so alright maybe not the first of my lifetime, or even the first of my posting lifetime, but the first in what seems like a long time

If it was last July, maybe HA boxings are like the swallows of Capistrano or whatever...happens anually, same time each year.

If HA's boxing is just about generalizations and more specific 'racist talk', then I can only conclude that the 'rules' have drastically changed in two weeks time.

Well, I didn't see the thread, but it cannot have been any 'gayer' than the 'select few' who still insist on posting 'stop causing problems." That wasn't even funny the first 1,000 times it was used.

I don't know if HA's boxing was really a change in the rules, but certainly Sov's boxing was. The rules here apparently change at a whim.

I'm not saying I have a problem with HA's boxing. It was Sov's that I have issue with. He simply used a phrase that is/was pretty common vernacular both here and in the real world especially amongst the younger generations.

Evidently the committee changed SkyDog's thinking on the usage of "faggot" or "faggoty".

By the way, if sov was boxed for posting that particular pic, why hasn't the pic been taken down yet? Or was he boxed for some other reason?

Yes. I mean, I guess the pic could stay up, but his post hasn't been edited. If it's offensive enough to warrant a boxing, it should be edited or deleted, don't you think?

Maybe because it's a committee now, it takes so much longer to do stuff. Perhaps the Mods' constituents are lobbying to keep it up.

Depends on the reason for the boxing. If something is as offensive as HA's thread was reported to be and the mods believe that leaving it around will cause a shit-storm that can't be contained, it seems prudent to remove it. If someone is boxed for asshatish behavior and the situation is contained there doesn't seem a need to remove the post/thread

Well, if someone got boxed for using faggot to demean someone, SkyDog owes about 11 months in the box for retroactive pigheadedness.

I don't agree with it, but precedent had been clearly established that word was ok.

Y'know, I've been pretty vocally critical of the way the board has been run, but I have to say there's been some consistancy recently on boxings -- the mods aren't playing favorites, and I have to applaud them for that.

It wasn't the bunny pic. He posted a reply along the lines of "Don't be gay". Actually I believe he used the word(?) faggotty or somesuch. I don't use the phrase myself, but it has been pretty common around here without causing bannings or boxings.

the precedent was established before there were multiple mods...has SD used that particular turn of phrase since the new modding situation came about...i havent seen it if it has, and if it has, someone should hit the report post button, as we now that anything that gets reported triggers a PM to all the mods.

saying that because something was allowable under one administration means it continues to be allowable under future ones is like saying that because the Soviet Union said it was ok to shoot suspected spies without trial means it remains accepable in the Russian Federation.....things change.

What's the addendum to Godwin's Law called when you use the Soviets instead of the Nazi's? There's gotta be a term for that.

I do find it odd that I got a warning for the pic while Sovereignstar got a 2 week suspension. I personaly feel like the modding is all over the place just as much as it was when SD was in control. Randomness abounds.
