Wow, I am as big of a Bengal fan as you can be and absolutely despise the Steelers and I am really hoping everything is okay. From reading some of the posts in this thread you would have thought he just raped a little girl and threw her off a bridge. What not hold off the critisisms of Ben and helmets until we get more information?

Agreed. We were just talking about that here at work.

I have a Yamaha R6 and I always get that look and stare from motorists who have seen something similar and an idiot attached to it who weave in and out of traffic and go so damn fast, you don't see them in your rear view mirror until they are about to pass you. Most of those types also have temp tags for some reason.

It's too bad, I've taken the safety course and I just love the crotch rocket style of bikes... I'm extremely safe consious.

My father was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident when I was 19. He'd probably be dead if he wasn't wearing a helmet. As it was, he was in the hospital for two months, then at home recuperating for another four before he could even go back to work.

Sometimes, a helmet isn't enough. My uncle was a motorcycle cop who was killed in an accident while on duty pursuing a car.

I'll never ride one.

I knew he had specifically affirmed his decision to not ride with a helmet at some point. Big thanks for the link on this. What a moron.

and that's my point. Say you see one fucktard biker in a day out of the 5 bikers you saw, then you see one fucktard motorist out of the 100 motorists you saw in the day, well the ratio is, as mrsmurf said, off the chart.

Texas has no helmet law. I choose to wear mine. I value my brain just a little more than having the wind blow through my hair.

I had an accident in 94 where I hit a rather large pothole, went into a high speed wobble and rolled with my bike about 100 yards across pavement into a ditch and up against a barbed wire fence. I know if I didn't have my helmet on then it would have been a very ugly scene as my head bounced off the pavement and ground several times as my body rolled along. Sky, ground, sky, ground, sky, ground, sky is all that I saw as it was happening. I love my helmet.

That said, stupid move Ben, hope you are O.K.

Ugh some people need to be hurt.

And the text from the ebay auction because I'm sure they'll pull it

Ravens fan in right place at right time.
1 ounce of Roethlisberger blood up for auction collected from the scene of the accident in Pittsburgh on June 12th at 11:30am

You can do with it as you wish. You can clone the DNA to make ugly stupid QB's with disturbing facial hair, or you can just mount it on your dashboard and just laugh when the Steelers are 4-12 this year.

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is undergoing surgery after a motorcycle accident on Monday morning, doctors at Mercy Hospital said.

Roethlisberger is in serious but stable condition, according to Dr. Larry Jones.

According to a police source, Roethlisberger suffered a broken jaw, broke his left sinus cavity, suffered a 9-inch laceration to the back of his head, lost many teeth and has severe injuries to his knees from hitting the pavement.

A plastic surgeon has been called in, the source said.

Hopefully it's just severe road burns or even a cleanly broken bone, and not some type of cartilage injury.

clearly i hope big ben recovers and is alright, but i feel it's my duty to point out the stupidity of a) riding a motorcycle and b) riding a motorcycle without a helmet when the health of your body is how you earn your living. especially with non-guarenteed contracts in the NFL.

oh, and Tom Brady would never ride a motorcycle

Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch was at the emergency room. He had no comment.

Any wanna bet his comment wouldn't have been printable?

I think everybody hopes he's OK, but it's not at all out of bounds to point out how monumentally stupid it is to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

BTW, for all the Chicago folk here - what's up with the motorcycle riders there? Obviously there's no helmet law there, but even so, I was shocked to observe that the vast majority of riders there don't wear a helmet. I just don't get that (lack of) thinking...
