The number of stuff to control in FM outpaced my ability to keep up with it all for a while, but then they improved the Assistant Manager & Coaches AI, and made "default" settings for a lot of stuff (but training & tactics specifically) not suck so much, and it made getting into it a lot easier.
Having said that, sometimes a quick trip over to the "Tactics" section of the SI Forums yields results in a consensus thread on training regimes & decent "general" tactics. As long as you're not striving for perfection up front, it works out. |

Yeah, I'm starting to get those 'Do you have a life?" type messages in my addictive rating message that pops up when you first load your save game. The fantastic thing about playing for that long is that you've entered your own reality per se and have players that you've coached who retired decades ago who are now retiring as coaches and things like that. It's pretty neat. I'm looking forward to upgrading to WWSM10 to see the upgrades over the past two years. |

I too remember the pirating was one of the reasons they couldn't sustain development of Eastside Hockey Manager. I bought it after SI announced that's the end of the road and I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Those are the games that I thought Canadians gamers would go crazy for, which further adds to the perplexity on why the whole country of Canada couldn't support a sim game of their national sport, whereas UK (and many other countries where soccer is popular) could. seems like even more is going to be improved as far as helping the user along too in 2010. I particularly like the idea of a "one click yes" button for things your assistants and coaches recommend in the regular (optional) meetings - the example given was like "coach x thinks player y should learn the following new move" and then you'd have a button saying "yeah do it" and that'd take care of it rather than having a clickfest to do it
