Florida air travel is fucked. When I lived in Tallahassee, it was considerably cheaper to fly out of state to go to/from Tallahassee to other cities in Florida. It would take you a couple more hours, but cost $200-300 less.

Size maybe? We've flown in/out of Daytona a couple times, it's pretty small. I don't think many routes go directly there.

If you can - price depending, of course - fly into Sanford rather than MCO.

So, my kids dig Curious George, no shock. I fully understand the notion of taking a popular work by deceased creators and spinning it into more modern and ongoing material -- I'm okay with that. I am oddly put off, though, by the weird convention used in the more modern CG books where the books are given an illustration attribution (something like "illustrated in the style of Margret and H.A. Rey") but as nearly as the books can tell me, nobody actually wrote the words. I suspect that's possibly part of a deal with the Rey estate or somesuch, but it strikes me as odd that *nobody* gets credit for writing these books, no matter how trivial and derivative the content actually is.

I like waffles, even though it's tough to butter them. I always get like a big clump in some of the little squares - and none in other squares. This bugs me.

Butter on waffles is a travesty. Butter just gets in the way of the syrup.

Just got to see the shuttle fly by on a 747. It's refueling here on its way to California. Haven't seen it fly by before like that.

I've only ever put butter on my waffles. Never been big on using syrup and the taste of melted butter in every little waffle square is just so delicious.

I canceled an appointment I had Friday morning when I learned that it would do a flyby in the Bay Area. I should have a great view from my office.

one of my earliest childhood memories is being driven to school and seeing test shuttle (Enterprise) flying overhead on a 747

Giggity.

Solid

My boss is the same way and I love it. He doesn't micro manage my time off. If I take a full day, yeah, put in for it, but leave a few hours early and he knows I'll stay late when he needs me to so it all evens out.

Yellowstone park would be a lot better if everyone didn't have a camera attached to their face. I don't get the whole obsession with photos generally. I mean, there are infinity great pictures of elk out there that are instantly available, that you're never going to top. Why is so damn important that YOU get a photo? To me, it's so much more satisfying to be there, to see things in my own eyes, to try to feel differently and connect with nature and whatnot, rather than having a priority to personally document everything. And even when it's just the 95% of people around me constantly snapping photos, the whole thing just feels like a theme park. I think it'd be a powerful experience to be with a group of people watching a black wolf run up and down a hill towards an elk carcass (which I saw yesterday), but it's much less so when everybody's obsessed with documenting it rather than just being there.

So ya, first time here in Yellowstone right now, with my parents who always wanted to go. I can't believe it's taken me 6 years of living 5 1/2 hours away to get here, but I'll get here again sooner, to hike more and further away from the cameras as much possible. The ride out to Cody was pretty great too, I stopped a few places along the way (including a random outdoor chapel up a unpaved road - with I loved for its isolation from cameras), but I'd love to spend more time here soon.

Last time I drove from Yellowstone to Cody they were doing excavations for the road with live explosives (must be 20 years). I highly suggest checking out Buffalo Bill Historical Center

I stopped by there today but just didn't have the time to really hang out there all day like I'd want to, so I only hit the gift shop - but it will be at the top of the list for next time. I did have a ridiculous buffalo bacon burger in town though. I'm going to have to go vegetarian for a least a few months to make up for the cowboy eating this week.

It's going to be really sad when we discover in 20 years that the ingredients in sunscreen cause skin cancer. I mean: have you looked at the active ingredients in sunscreen? It's basically a bunch of hydrocarbon chains.
