Nolan Ryan may not be the winningest pitcher ever, but damn, he was a 12 hits away from throwing 19 no-hitters. You want to talk about untouchable records, 7 no-hitters and 12 one-hitters has to be in the mix.

One of my favorite things about twitter, and one of the most underrated comedic areas, is when people tweet things at or in response to business twitter accounts. Like this:

Mary Charlene@IamEnidColeslaw
.@OldNavy sometimes I tighten the straps on my overalls because I like how it feels on my cunt

I survived my daughter's 13th birthday - complete with 12 12-13 year old girls, a skate party, and a sleepover. It will be a long time before we try that again.

If your daughter was a Dominican softball prospect, she could celebrate turning 13 at least 2 more times.

I actually asked our Pepsi vendor to bring some in on his next delivery because it sells fairly well at the bowling center.

I don't like sprite but drink sierra mist, it taste less spriteY. When at the casino to bet the ponies, I usually get 95 percent water and the rest sierra mist.

I have a talent at writing confusing messages..... usually I think of something amazing then add a few sentences in my head before I know it. I then try to cram those those thoughts into the first awesome sentence, thus ruining it.

If she is his wife's sister and it was her husband's mother, then I don't think she is his mother in law.

If Spleen is right, then meh. You could probably leave that up to your wife. If her sister wanted her to go, then you could go with her. But, I don't think anyone would miss you if you didn't.

Now, if the sister in law is your brothers wife - then yeah, you HAVE to go to her mother in laws funeral.

Do military people really say 'I've got your six'?

I work with a veteran who claims he'd never heard it til the fundraising ads on tv. Surely there's an ex-military type here who can confirm?

In my unit (USMC early 90s), there were folks who said it, some who didn't. It wasn't part of universal Marine speak, but was known. Using the clock for direction was quite common.

Edit : Rethinking this. I don't think I ever heard the exact phrase "I've got your six". People would assign positions using 6 (or 3 or 9 or w/e), while patrolling or whatever. I also heard 6 used as the back end of something.

I never heard it while being a computer programmer in the USAF. I know I am going to start using it now though. It sounds so cool.

"Hey Spleen, want to go to lunch?"
"Absolutely! I've got your six while you stand in the sandwich line!"

The phrase that I have heard more often being around my father, who was an USAF pilot, is "check 6" or check your six.

Little different meaning, but that would be more of a wingman call anyway, if there is such a call.

Yeah, it sounds like it may be percolating down from the aviation community, who have been using clock directions for a long time.

When I was in the Air Force we did. Usually it was when asking where something was on the flight line. "Hey, where's that heater that needed to be refueled?", "Check your six you idiot, it's right behind you".

Yes, wife's sister's husband's mother. I never met her and never would have met her, and I'll also add that my brother-in-law is a real douche of a person. Thankfully, he and I speak entirely different languages, so I don't have to talk to him...ever.

Unfortunately, my wife really wants me to go so that she doesn't have to go by herself. Damnation!
