I thought the Steelers were done for sure after that call got overturned. Nice backbone.

I'll agree. The Steelers played outstanding, and the Colts beat themselves all day long.

You really have to wonder what they were doing throwing long on both 2nd and 2 and 3rd and 2 at the end there.

Though I was rooting for Indy, I'm happy the Steelers won. It would have felt very wrong for the Colts to win after what was possibly the worst ref decision I've ever seen (overturning Polamalu's INT).

I'm rooting for Pittsburgh all the way now.

BTW, Harper would have easily gotten the TD had he just made Roethlisberger chase him towards the sideline.

How many times did they show someone mouthing "He missed" or "He missed it"?

Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher, Jerome Bettis, Peyton Manning. Did I miss anyone?

All we needed was Jeremy Shockey posing for the camera.

If Bill Parcells was coaching that play, I think Manning would have had to play without a head.

Assuming you think Parcells would have even tried to punt, right?

EDIT... Besides, Bill Parcells needs to worry about winning enough games to even make the playoffs before worrying about ripping the heads off of MVP QBs.

Yeah, I'm serious - it looked to me that when Peyton waved the punter off, at that point Dungy just gave up control of the team, looked like he was lost - shrugged his shoulders and said 'whatever'.

I know he's had a month that nobody would wish upon anybody, but that's what I saw.

Well the scenario is that he did call the punt and then the QB waved him off. I don't think many coaches would have called a punt there, down by 18.

I don't think so. He would have forced him off the field, but coaches like players to want to stay on the field.

Most suprising development in commercials has to be the longevity of Jared on Subway. He's basically become the mascot.

Yeah, for real. If your QB doesn't show any fire or desire to win the game, you might as well be punting. For all we know, it might have been a challenge to the offense.

I have never, ever seen anything like this in my life. And, of course, I mean the jaw on the woman from "Cold Case."

Anyway, I'm going to pull out all of my Broncos gear to wear around western Pennsylvania this week. Let's see if I live long enough to see the game next Sunday. That was a stunning ending to today's game, and the only way that the NFC game can top it is if Julius Peppers kicks the game-winning field goal or something.

So does Dungy lose his job? He has yet to get the Colts in the Super Bowl. He just had his QB overrule him on the field in a home playoff game after they started the season 13-0.

Yup. That isn't the first time I've seen a QB fighting to stay on the field in a fourth and short. It may have been the first time I've seen a coach allow him to stay.

Stop Stop Stop! Peyton Manning has been given the credit(rightfully so) for having completely control of the Colts' offense all season long. He has the abiltiy to call and change any offense play that they run. Essentially, the offense side of the ball is all Peyton and Tom Moore. You said so yourself. Peyton showed he really runs the Colts. If we are going to give the credit for all their success (including that 4th down call), then he has to get the blame for the offense futility in the first half and parts of the second.

I think Manning did the right thing, and Dungy was getting cold feet. The Colts needed to go for it or they were done. I was more amused by an image of Parcells' expression if a player blatantly challenged his authority.

Sounds reasonable. You should always give players and coaches credit for their successes AND failures. Why would anybody argue otherwise?

Fair point, but I still think a Head Coach loses a lot of authority being so publicly dissed by the QB as happened, even if the QB was right.
