Yeah I remember that rant, and I agree. U.S.-Canada is like a big brother-little brother thing to me. If they're facing each other, I want Canada to win. Otherwise, I'd rather see the U.S. win a lot of the times unless there's some cool story underdog or a defeat would serve a lesson (like the basketball team doing poorly in some world championships, so that they'd take it more seriously and field a crazier team). But U.S.-Russia, I'd rather see U.S. win for sure.

Don't read too much into Cherry's comments, if it had happened in Toronto instead of Montreal he would been applauding the fans for booing the USA because of US/Canada Trade Agreements, border restrictions and who knows what else.... It was an another opportunity to take a shot at Montreal who robbed him of ever winning a Stanley Cup as a coach...

whoa, the neutral crowd cheered the underdog on, never heard of that ... Oh wait, i was there doing the same thing during the soccer world cup in ī06 .

Seriously, when Latvia played Russia they cheered for Latvia, when Germany played Sweden they cheered for Germany. When switzerland plays the US, they cheer for the swiss.

Donīt read more into it than it was. Maybe they cheered a bit more, but it wasnīt like they were chanting against the US or anything.

I can't believe the NHL is considering not allowing players to play in Sochi. The US-Canada and this game so far have been some of the most exciting hockey I've ever seen. Of course first they have to get the game on a real TV channel but this has to be an amazing advert for the game. Only Bettman could screw something like this up.

Stoked that Getzlaf has the goal. Would love to see him succeed and help Canada get a medal.

Nice to see, that for at least a period, the Canadians have remembered how to play the game.

Now here's hoping they don't stop what they're doing until the Olympics are over. They already got away from their physical play once they were up 3-0 then got it going again after Russia got their first goal, they'd better keep it up the rest of the way or this game could get a lot more interesting than it should.

The last thing I think any Russian fan wanted to hear coming out of this game was Nabakov being in playoff form.

So I remember being shocked at the beatdown the American women were laying on the Russian women, thinking at first it was men's hockey.

This is no less shocking. What the hell happened to Russia here?

And we have CONTROVERSY in the Short Track Relay.. I'm honestly shocked that they DQ'd the South Korean skater for that move.. didn't even look like there was real contact there!

Tough call against the South Korea relay team imo, but tack on another medal for the US despite finishing in dead last by half a lap.

WTF? Doesn't the lead skater have the right of way? I thought China should have been DQ'd if anyone was.

Awesome! The USA underdog sled with a medal (probably bronze)! Canada will probably get gold and silver.

Wow- that Canada 2 heat 4 was just so fast and got them the silver. But Canada 1 was the best sled out there all 4 times and they got the gold they deserved.

He looked ok to me on that save against Malkin.

But seriously, what goals would you fault him on? He made a couple big stops, a whole bunch of 'normal' stops, and let in 3 goals that were very nice shots/plays from talented hockey players.

So my answer? Not sizzling hot, but certainly not cold. A solid B+ performance.

No, NBC, Mancuso's situation doesn't equate to Sven's. But thanks for the Monday morning QB'ing. They were running people down at 1 minute because of the conditions that obviously were deteriorating bad enough that they canceled the second run until tomorrow.
