A hit in terms of depth, but since he was only hitting 28% from the field it isn't that significant of a loss.

Mizzou should have won, the refs were in our corner but we also gave away a 12 point lead

Maybe a tad bit of acting.. but him getting run over wasn't. The problem in basketball with close games, every call or non-call gets enhanced. It was a good game actually, both teams made some good runs and both teams shot well most of the night. I'm just happy Mizzou finally has a big team, I was tired of watching 4 guards run the floor in years past. |

He may have embellished the foul, but there's no question that's an intentional foul. There was no play made on the ball. He was grabbed by the torso. The announcers did make a mistake in their description of the situation. They stated that the foul could be reviewed to determine if it was a flagrant foul. There was no violent intention in the foul (i.e. elbow, punch, etc.), so it definitely could not be considered a flagrant foul and definitely could not be reviewed. It should also be noted that Haith and the bench never were claiming a flagrant foul. They were signaling for an intentional foul right from the start. That's what the call should have been. It's a shame that the ending was tarnished by the terrible call, but it was a fantastic game to watch for the first 39:55. The last 5:05 was some pretty bad basketball comparatively. It was obviously a much more important win for UCLA as it put them back in a position to get into the NCAA tourney. Mizzou didn't need this one nearly as much as UCLA did. Both teams showed very well. Pressey was just ridiculous. |

We live and die with Pressey. Don't get me wrong I love watching him and think the good outweighs the bad but fucking quit trying to be cute in the last several minutes of regulation with all of your trick passes out of bounds.
As for the foul the refs obviously didn't want to dictate the outcome of the game but when the coach decides to foul five times in ten seconds and one of the fouls is grabbing a guy on the run you are allowed to say enough is enough and call it intentional. Not sure what could possibly be more intentional than that sequence. Hats off to UCLA, hope to meet again wih higher stakes and will definitely be grabbing some tickets for next seasons matchup in Columbia. Hope Mizzou can dominate the SEC though I have to admit outside of Arknasas, Florida, and Kentucky these games look like real yawners. (Not claiming mizzou will win all of them just that SEC basketball doesn't grab my attention like big 12 and old big 8 used to) |

Yeah, Pressey got too cute late in that game, but it's what he does. He had a fantastic game, so after I calmed down, I thought.. I can't really be upset with him.
Mizzou played some really bad basketball after they had control of the game and the 12 point lead. Hopefully they learn from that. The problem with losing Dixon is you can't rest Pressey as much as you used to be able to. |

If you're going to critique anything about the game last night, it was the general pace and play by Mizzou. That game looked a whole lot like the Norfolk State game last year. The issue with Pressey driving so deep into the paint so many times is that you have to get your SG to focus on getting back against the break even on a made basket. If you don't do that, there's a good chance the other team is going to have some baskets on the break and you're not going to have many chances to set your defense and create turnovers. That's what happened last night. It's a good learning experience for Jabari. Also, they really need to put Bell at PG when Flip isn't out there. Negus just doesn't quite have the ball skills to run the offense. Even having Earnest Ross trigger the offense against a bigger defender is a better option. Pretty big win for Harvard at Cal tonight. Not meaningful in the grand scheme of things as the Ivy is going to be a one bid league, but it shows how far this team has come since getting run off the court by St. Joe's in November. Great defense and game management. Finish the non-league schedule with a tough game at St. Mary's Monday and then a home game vs. Rice.

Missed the game due to heading home from visiting relatives up north, but it looks like UNLV was down, then came back, then ended up losing by 6, 79-73. Would have loved a repeat of last year, but can't win 'em all.

Michigan handled Central Michigan pretty easily, even with Hardaway out with an ankle injury. Hope this is just a minor thing with Big Ten play starting, though.

So let's firm up the terms of our sig bet. Here are my thoughts. 1. Whoever is behind in the series has to post a sig written by the other guy. If the series is tied, neither person has to have anything in his sig. Loser has to include their sig for all posts made in Off Topic forum. (Or should it just be whoever won the most recent game?) 2. The sig only needs to be up during the season. Once March Madness has concluded, the loser can remove the offending sig 3. Nothing dirty/no profanity allowed 4. We can decide after the season if we want to extend the bet for another season. Sounds good? Last edited by Kodos : 12-30-2012 at 01:36 PM. |

Eh it's college basketball. Norm used to get those calls all the time. I'm still more frustrated with Presseys lack of poise in the last several minutes than anything else. He had a signature game for player of the year going and then just started throwing Woody Harrelson/Wesley Snipes type passes and have away the lead. The refs didn't blow the huge lead. |

3 pm cst. ESPN2. Indiana at Iowa.
This could go one of 2 ways I believe. Indiana wins by over 10 or Iowa wins a close one. Iowa has been very cold from behind the arc lately. Including an 0-17 performance in a game. If that continues we lose big. We hit some 3s, I think we win. This will be a great game to watch. Iowa plays fast and they are getting better defensively. We start 3 freshmen and a sophomore. All of them are quality players. Turn your TVs to this one guys, I dont think you will be disappointed. |

Very interested in today's game. Indiana hasn't played much in the way of quality competition, and in the few games where they did, they either lost or were in real dogfights. Also, they haven't played many away games. I hope the boys can rise to the challenge.

For outsiders, KenPom predicts IU 78, Iowa 69, giving the Hoosiers a 79% chance for the win.

Looking forward to getting a chance to see how good Minnesota might be this year when they open Big Ten play against Michigan State, just wish they weren't playing while I am at work.

I thought Iowa was suppose to be so exciting now? Or is it only against Coppin St they can put up points? Against Indiana they just dribble the ball for 20 seconds and throw up some junk.

Bad shooting again. Need to make some shots and quick.
Indiana has some studs. We have shut Zeller down, but who needs him? Like I said earlier, we need to make some 3s. I loved Acie Earl. What a great player. Last edited by tarcone : 12-31-2012 at 04:09 PM. |
