First off that team will never be "thin" with Glen Davis around. I think Duke might be a good matchup for them. Depth is not a strong suit for the Blue Devils either. They may have just a bit more along the frontline. The one thing that would worry me is the balance Duke showed today especially McRoberts. |

The Zags are looking good so far. But IU did let SDSU lead most of the game Thursday before coming on strong at the end...

I am getting tired of Coach K trying to sell me a Chevy. Although I would image the big-6 fanboys like bsak get a hard-on when they see the commercial.
LSG is becoming the JeebeD of females.

So, now we not only have fans of teams and individual conferences, but now you can either root for "The big 6" or the mid-majors?
This is getting out of control....

Afflalo, and Mike Roll, havent been able to do anything. Aboya looks lost for UCLA as well. Farmar and Hollins seem to be the only ones playing well...

I know others have had issues with their networks, but my CBS affliate here in Queens has been on the money re: showing the right game at the time.

They missed the charge and IMO the over the back call on the next play against alabama. Then Affalo got hit on a 3, and then on a drive and neither were called. Seems like some really shaky calls but neither team is getting the worst of it at this point. |

Huge 3 for Aflalo there.
We are pretty heavily invested in the Bruins for our Calcutta pool, so I'm getting texted non-stop about this game since I pushed for UCLA and their 4 CA games to get to the Final Four this year. That formula worked pretty well back when we rode Texas and Syracuse with their home draws to the Final Four (2003?) ... |

It never seems to amaze me how horribly coaches can botch the end of the game. Enough with the one on one, wait until 2 seconds to take a shot thing. Move the damn ball a little bit.

I never understand why teams go for the 3 when they are down by 2 with roughly 12-15 seconds left.
Take the ball to the basket and hope for a bucket or a foul. Extend the game as much as possible.

well in that case it was piss poor decision-making by the players or wanting to "be the hero" or not being disciplined enough. I am sure the coach told them to take it to the hole |

I think it's rarely the coaches, and far more often the players who simply lose their mind in a clutch situation. Each sporting event I watch makes me value a guy who can keep his cool under pressure even more. |

Do refs never call intentional fouls in late game situations? Just a general observation more then game specific?

I disagree especially when the team is coming out of a timeout. Too many coaches are calling the 1-4 set and asking their best one on one guard to create something. The hope is that the guard can get to the basketball and either score for themselves or pass off to someone else. The problem is that no one else on the offense is moving and if the defender is equal to the task, the ball handler is screwed. I think coaches actually do a better job with 1-5 seconds on the clock than when there is 10-15 seconds. They seem to run an actual play within the framework of their regular offense when they have less time. |

I guess I got to eat my crap a bit about Gonzaga. They got much farther than I thought they would. I think UCLA matches up with them best as well. If they got this far, they can get to the Elite Eight. I do not think UCLA will have an answer for Morrison. Alabama would have matched up much better against Gonzaga.

If it comes down to a free throw contest, then I know who my money is on. Gonzaga 78.3% (#3 in the country) UCLA 70.3% (not even in top 100)

One of the best part about the NCAA's is visiting the schools message boards on the recruiting sites. Kansas and Illinois fans are the funniest to watch. Most Kansas fans are probably dead and the Illinois are pretty much saying that they are going to count this game a win and come hunt down the ref. Ironically, the same ref that saved their ass vs Arizona in last years tournament
Ah the joys of message boards and alcohol |

If Bradley beats Pitt, then the MVC will prove it deserved to get more than four teams in.

Not really, it just proves the teams that got bids deserved to get bids. If NC State and UNC win, putting the ACC at 8-0, does that mean they should have gotten more bids? |
