Bucket list moment just a few hours away now: I'm actually going to see Iron Maiden with my son.

Now I just gotta live long enough for him to turn 21 so we can go to Vegas together and I'll have pretty much ticked off all the critical items.

Wonder what the over/under on me making it another 7 years would be?

I was frightened when Facebook suggested that I like Nickelback today because "8 other friends like this." I gave some good consideration to deleting those friends.

I spent the afternoon volunteering at a park for an event. Got stuck working the parking lot. I hate lazy people. The responses to "Sorry. The lot is full. There is another lot on the next block."

"I'm not walking that far!"

"I'll wait right here until a spot opens up"

"I'M 70 YEARS OLD!!!"

The best of the afternoon... One woman when she asked where she could find where it was going on & I informer her once she parks to follow to the left of the pond...

"You mean I have to WALK?"

No maam, if you ask someone really politely they will bring the fucking log cabin to your car.

So what'd you say to the person who said they'd wait right there for a spot to open up?

Waiting for the phone to ring to find out whether I get offered a job or not.

As Tom Petty once said, the waiting is the hardest part.

This might be one of the scarier headlines I have read in a while...

2 Million Flushmate Toilet Systems Recalled Because of Explosions!!!

I didn't realise that toilets were sufficiently difficult to flush that they needed a device to make flushing easier...

Why would a tow truck driver, in this day and age, not have some kind of GPS device???

Or a map?

I might be wrong, but i think that device either gives you the "Whoosh" sound when you flush, or is needed for basement toilets in order to make the water run uphill.

It does only roll down hill when it's rolling.

When it's travelling through a highly-pressurized underground water cannon? Wherever the damn cannon points.

Well, it hasn't been called 'British Petroleum' for quite a while now. It has been BP since British Petroleum merged with Amoco (American Oil Company) and Arco. Although they are headquarted in London, the largest division by far is BP America, with a huge office complex in Houston.

Episode 411 of Breaking Bad - "Crawl Space" might be one of the single greatest episodes in television history.

I am guessing 411 means the 11th episode of the 4th season right? 411 episodes sounds like a lot of episodes.

Every time I open this thread page, I think I clicked on the pics thread. Then as I scroll down can't believe people aren't posting pics. Happened at least 3 times, maybe I should be more focused when online.

I just saw Kenny Loggins singing 'Footloose' on 'Let's Make A Deal' while Wayne Brady danced with a guy in a cow costume to the music.

That is all.

Goody. My boss is quitting, after 19 years here, leaving me and one other guy as the only two programmers for our division.

The amount of added responsibilities we're going to get stuck with is, to put it mildly, absurd. Dude did a buttload, and was on call about 95% of the time. So we're going to be expected to...do a ton more work, and be on call 24/7.

I can pretty much guarantee they won't be increasing our pay (which is already low by industry standards) to compensate, though I'm going to be pushing for it heavily. Honestly, even with a drastic increase in pay & benefits (that again, in my experience with this company, will not be happening), I'm not sure the headaches he had to go through would be worth it.

Time to pick up the search for a new job.

Ugh...

Quote:
Yesterday, we shared the plan with our team members in Human Resources; HR Operations; Learning, Development & Inclusion (LD&I); and Talent Management and Movement (TAM). We notified team members affected by the new structure transition that their current positions would be eliminated, effective August 2, at the same time advising them of new opportunities that will be available in the realigned structure. We will be posting the newly defined positions within the next two weeks so that the HR, HR Ops, LD&I, and TAM team members can apply for the positions that are of interest to them. All of this internal movement will be managed with dedicated resources to complete the transition as quickly as possible, with minimal disruption to the team members and the needs of our business partners.

The realigned structure geographically positions the HR Team for enhanced responsiveness, leveraging their collective experience and talents. However, some members of the current team are affected as 25 positions will no longer exist in the new structure. This is always a challenging component of change and on behalf of the entire team, I want to thank everyone for their professionalism and continued commitment as we transition the HR organization. I know I can rely on all of you to support our colleagues and join me in wishing them continued success as they pursue the next chapter of their professional careers.
