Perhaps I didn't notice things like that, being 19 years old and a total idiot.

A sad piece of news in today's paper about the inner city schools..

Quote in today's Buffalo News about the City Of Buffalo Schools:

"There are 126 students in eighth grade who are either 16 or will be 16 before the school year ends."

I might have lost my debt card. I know when I last used it and everything. I went back and retraced my steps and still nothing. It has my picture on and I checked my online account but still annoying.

What I want to know is, how come I can walk into my credit union and they can issue me a new card right then and there, but, if I do it online, it takes 7-10 business days. It's the freaking 21st century and still takes just as long to get a new card as it did in 1989!!!

Oh, I'd call your bank or go in and have them cancel the card and get a new one. A hassle for sure, but, not as big of a hassle if someone somehow is able to use it. Or check under your seat in the car or between the seat and the center console. Mine likes to hide there now and then.

Assuming they're not special needs kids or something, I'm impressed the schools there apparently require something before sending you on a grade. It's like low graduation rates for athletes - people talks about how bad they are, but it's worse when you have graduates who can't read than it is when academic standards are actually enforced.

Some are and some aren't from what the article stated. It was about letting the kids drop out (with parental approval) and get their GED program and move on.

It's an effort to lower the "drop" out rate at the high school level.

Most of the 16 yr olds who are still in middle school are there because they refuse to show up or just flat out fail.

I checked in the car and anywhere else I can think of. I'll go to my bank tomorrow. I hate having to change over all of my bills I have set up for auto pay.

Thank god my car is still under warranty. My Fusion continues to move from Quite Impressed to Twitchy to Problematic.

Sat at a light a few months ago, engine light pops on, engine sputters for a few seconds, and just dies. Took it in, they found nothing wrong. I chalk it up to a bad tank of gas.

Did it again about a month ago. Restarted engine, all is well. Really, I should have taken it in, but I was lazy, and it had been fine. Last couple of weeks, engine light has been intermittently going on and off, with no side effects. Planning on taking it in. Again, wee bit lazy here. Yesterday, driving along, engine light, sputter sputter die. Not good.

Dropping it off tomorrow morning with clear instructions of "there is very very clearly something not right here. Find it. Fix it."

Today's lesson in my African-American Studies class was about how ethnic whites (like the Irish) at the turn of the 20th century used racism as a way to assimilate into white culture. I just so happened to be wearing my "Irish" t-shirt today.

They should be able to pull an OBDII log and it should show every time the light came on and what triggered it.

While changing a tire at the 7-11 tonight, a bum walks by and says, "It sucks to be you."

Has anybody ever had a bum tell you, "It sucks to be you?" before??

My garage door needed some series repairs today. Since my wife works closer to home, she was there while the repairs were taking place.

The garage door repair man told her she looks like Erin Andrews.

I'm married to Erin Andrews. Suck it, bitches.

It would be nice to see gasoline fall. It's essentially 1.40 over crude cost, whereas it normally would be 70-80 cents over. Someone is making huge profits right now.

Oh they are making money hand over fist. What I really want to know is, how is a company like, say, Exxon for example, claiming that crude costs them more, when it's their rigs that gets the oil out of the ground to begin with? It's their oil that gets shipped to their refinery, transported on their trucks to their gas stations.

right before an election? i find that hard to believe.

so a while ago i was at the farmers market and saw a midget (dwarf?) and thought, 'huh, that's a handsome little person. i wonder if he's in the pictures.'

well, i finally got turned on to game of thrones and sure enough the little guy from the farmers market was peter dinklage. i guess he lives around here which is both strange and awesome.

When in doubt...Dwidget. Was he wearing a sombrero?

Never watched game of thrones though I've a few pictures, but, the only little guy I can think of is the one from Elf, kind of looks like the guy in that show.

Where is here? I'm being nosey today.

no sombrero. i've seen him a couple times now that i think about it. same guy from elf. oswego, ny. it's beautiful here but rural upstate ny isn't exactly a hotbed. then again, for someone who's instantly recognizable this is a great place for some anonymity.

you should check out GOT. i resisted forever too. someone gave me the dvd's this week and i am thoroughly enjoying it.

Dang. That would have been awesome if he was wearing one. Ahhh ok, same guy from Elf, then I do know who you are talking about. If I remember correctly, is Rochester somewhat near Oswego? Not sure why I'm thinking they are close to each other though.

That's cool. Sounds like it was a win/win for you...you didn't have to pay for them AND you like it.

not really. close to syracuse. bout 3 hrs away from rochester. here to rochester is like san diego to la. nyc is like san diego to san francisco.

my fear is now i'll see him and fanboy out and he'll turn out to be a dick.

yeah, i never would have checked it out if my buddy hadn't given me season 1. i had all the preconceived notions about fantasy. "what is it like dragons and shit?'

and it is. but it's also a really good drama. like the soprano's in middle earth.

Oh ok. Maybe it was Syracuse. My cousins roommate is from Syracuse, maybe somehow I mixed the two places up.

Just don't go up to him and say, "Remember that time in episode 6...". Haha!

That's cool. I've had zero interest in it because I just have no faith in my friends tastes of tv shows. Most of them like american idol...so, I'm never too confident in their recommendations.
