I don't want to derail the NBA thread, so I'll just post this here:

The whole "glasses" thing is a microcosm of why I cannot stand the NBA. I've seen snippets of OKC's press conference to see Durant and Westbrook doing their best "designer twin Urkel" imitations. And then last night, DWade one-ups them by wearing lens-less rims while being interviewed. I mean, seriously.

Because it's cool to go against the grain and purposely make yourself look like a hipster nerd. Oh yeah, except everyone else is already doing the same shit.

Scott Van Pelt with the winning line last night:

@notthefakeSVP: Imagine MJ after a game 5 loss at home to fall behind 3-2 thinking...where r my fake glasses w no lenses...THERE THEY ARE

I am not sure how I'm going to get lunch, as they are doing a rolling shutdown of the road outside where I work (Weston Parkway for those in the area) so they can film a car chase for Iron Man 3. Which is cool, but I have to hope they don't shut down the exit from our business park (which has ZERO food options right now) for like 2 hours around lunch...

I didn't listen to DWade's interview - did he throw in a Mumford and Sons reference?

It really surprises me that with technology as advanced as it is, certain things can't be done better. Take searches on iTunes app store on your phone/iPod, or searching through potential contacts on LinkedIn. You're basically scrolling through dozens of apps/profiles, and when you find one you are interested in and click it, and then are done with it, you get taken back the the VERY FUCKING BEGINNING of the list of apps/profiles you started with. How has this not been fixed? If I'm 55 apps in, and I stop to look at something, you'd think they could put me right back at the same point in the list of apps I was at when I stopped to look at that one.

Same thing with LinkedIn. Searching through people you may know is so frustrating, because when you run across someone and hit "connect," to go back to the list of profiles you have to scroll back through the dozens/hundreds of people you just saw. Multiple times. Hitting "show more" every 10 or so people. I can't believe that no one has come up with a better solution.

My question would be, why would even want to eat Dunkin Donuts donuts?

Those are probably the most disgusting donuts I ever attempted to eat in my life. Was visiting my dad in Rhode Island and there was one in the airport. I was hungry, I like donuts, figured it's a major chain, so it has to be decent. Got a regular chocolate covered donut and spit it right back out after the first bite. Ok, maybe a bad donut. Tried a Dunkin Donut in town, tasted exactly the same. There is something seriously wrong with the donuts at Dunkin Donuts or the taste buds of people in the New England area.

So, I'm a dad, and I make pancakes. Nothing exciting there.

When I pour them onto my square-shaped griddle, I usually just pour out 4 pancakes, and I pour them into the four corners of the griddle. Nothing exciting there.

However, I think 100 out of 100 times I have/will/would pour them out in a certain order. And to do it any other way would just seem... wrong. Like really wrong. I'm not really an OCD or neat freak sort of guy, but for some odd reason this seems like it's important.

So...

#1 - anyone else know what I'm talking about here? either with pancakes or something equally trivial?

#2 - anyone out there know deep in your heart (like I do) what the proper order is to pour out four pancakes onto a square griddle?

What kind of motorcycle should I start out with?

...oh, crap.

But pouring pancakes right to left? That's barbarism on a "at least familiar with modern colloquialisms" scale that I can at least deal with.

No one's really said they do right to left -- looks like most people do clockwise.

Wonder if there's any sort of left-handed/right-handed influence on whether you start pancakes on the left or on the right?

I assure you, pancakes are indeed my...wait, no. No, actually, I am more of a waffle guy, come to think. But yeah, pancakes. If you go in a circular pattern, at some point you're holding the pancake batter directly above the pancake you just made, and that's pretty awkward, particularly if you're dipping a measuring cup that consequently has batter dripping down the side. Maybe the circular folks are all perfect pourers. I dunno. Like I said, really more waffle guy these days.

But hopefully we can all agree on the whole "my neighbors are not cultured enough to be Philistines" thing.

I don't care how my pancakes are made as long as the waitress brings them to me nice and hot so the butter melts.

I would think moving clockwise, while trying to spend the least amount of time with your hands directly over the heat would be the key.

I need a dropdown-menu option in Salesforce (our CRM) for "Rude Asshole prospect" to clue me in and enable me to passive-aggressively get back at the people in my mind.

It's particularly amusing when said prospect is so incredibly marginal in the first place (ooh boy...you consult on what...$1bn in total assets? *Yawn*) that I'm basically wasting my time calling him, and then he's rude on top of that (interrupting me as I try to be polite to say "-call me another time" *click*). If he's that busy he shouldn't be picking up the phone.

That's what customer notes sections are for..

I use Microsoft CRM for this and place information like that in the notes sections, assign them a specific relationship type as well...It's fun and I have some phone with my DHP list...
