James Marten to the Cowboys. Not bad but not a WR or a CB.

Beck reminds me of Marc Bulger: Really accurate, smart and throws a great intermediate ball but lacks the arm strength to be among the elite QBs. I think he could do well in the right system.

Yeah Weinke was 28 or 29 and point taken on older players. I hope Ginn and Beck do turn out, of course, but I'm just saying, at this point in time I have serious misgivings on both.

I agree, Beck seems to be way ahead of where Weinke was at. The list of potential fill in QBs/backup QBs in this draft is huge.

I love this question on the ESPN.com Draft Chat:

"How come guys like Troy Smith and Chris Leak aren't getting drafted yet?"

I saw Beck a couple of times in college, and never thought he was any kind of prospect. What the heck do I know though.

I saw Pennington throw to Moss a few times in college, thought Pennington was a total throw away QB, not worth a pick. I was a bit wrong on that one.

Eh, I'm not that upset about Booker. I think he can spell Brown when Ronnie needs a break. Granted, there's probably better running backs still on the board, but anything that can prolong Ronnie's career is good.

Yeah, that's kinda what I mean. I definitely preferred Pittman over Booker if we had to go RB in the 3rd, but I would have liked them to wait and look at Bush from Louisville if he were avail. in the 4th, despite the injury issues.

I thought we could have looked at upgrading the secondary at this point.

I agree that we need to upgrade the secondary, but isn't Pittman the same style runner as Brown? I think Booker is better as a change of pace option.

Comcast Sports Network says, "Drafting a QB sends a message to McNabb, he needs to show up this year or he is gone".

McNabb was a top 3 QB before he was injured last year, most objective statistical analysis shows this. I really hope that the Comcast idiots are way off base.

WR Jason Hill goes to the 49er's (4.32 timed)

Have I mentioned that I love how my team is drafting this year?

While I can't complain about the Calvin Johnson pick, I've found the rest of the Lions' first day rather... blah.

Pittman is not your typical 3rd down back, I just think he's a better back overall compared to Booker. Since Ricky's future is still uncertain, I'd have liked us to go with the best overall player at RB (though I didn't want to go RB at all). I feel that the best avail. was Pittman (or a healthy Michael Bush).

Another reason I don't love the pick is Ronnie's durability. Ronnie has yet to show he's durable enough to carry us throughout an entire season. Pittman could start in case of an injury, I have doubts that Booker would be effective in a starting role. That said, I like the Booker pick a lot more if Ricky comes back in playing form. Ricky, Ronnie and Booker would make for a good group.

Im with ya. I don't disagree with the positions too much, I disagree with the actual picks. It appears alot of players with "football character" were available to be picked.

That's like 8 of 9 picks on wide receivers.

His ypa has gone up the last few years, but we're still talking about a good to very good QB who has had injury issues the last two years and is now 30 years old. That's not good for a guy who clearly isn't a natural in the pocket and has to use his feet to bring his best to the game. I'll agree that Philly picked too early for a QB, but it isn't like they don't need a good, young prospect there.

Enough said. When you call a quarterback among the best in the position, even if top five or top ten, that's good enough.

How many quarterbacks would you take over a healthy McNabb?

The talk of replacing McNabb just seems laughable to me. He's a perennial Pro Bowler -- there are about 20 teams that would love to be in Philly's position right now. He does have a bit of an injury bug, so having a backup with some potential would be nice in the long term -- Feely and, to a lesser extent, Holcomb are both scrubs. It's more the choice of the quarterback than the position that seems weird to me.

I live in Philadelphia but am NOT an Eagles fan. Eagles fans really dislike McNabb, in fact I would say most hate him. I don't get it but most fans won't be happy with McNabb this year.

I too live in Philadelphia and Eagle fans like McNabb the way they like all of their players. When a player plays great in Philly, everyone loves him. When he sucks, he wish he'd die. When he leaves after doing well, we call him gay (see Jeff Garcia).

Most Eagles' fans that I know don't dislike him. Most think he is the best QB we've had in our generation and consider him their favorite player. He is certainly one of my top 3 (along with Dawkins and Westbrook) and I would be very upset if the Eagles got rid of him. Of course, I don't see that happening which makes the 2nd round pick more of a head scratcher.

Eaglesfan, I wish you were a majority of fans I hear from.

McNabb deserves to be recognized as a quality QB from the previous years.

He has NEVER been the best QB, but has consistently been a top 1/3 or so QB.

Most of the fans I know blame Cunningham for his "me first" attitude that he frequently displayed and believe he is part of the reason we never won a Super Bowl with that ferocious defense we had. I like Cunningham, but I'd take McNabb over him any day of the week.

Getting another borderline-first round talent from one of the Big Three Florida schools in the third round who fell because of serious knee issues. Who does that sound like??? (Hint: Frank Gore)

I like Indy's draft a lot, too. The rich get richer, and the poor go around in circles trying to figure out what to do.

I'd say San Francisco's a real safe bet, if you don't consider 11 a top pick.
