Ah, ok. It's just amazing that I'm seeing jumps of 6 to 10 cents in a 24 hour period, two days in a row. Crazy.

That's something we've mostly been spared here- no different prices for cash vs credit.

That said, because there are a pair of ever increasingly large owners of a lot of gas station in Indy, it's really not uncommon to see the 30c jump in a day now. And then everyone else copies it. Because they can.

Still paying around $3: $3.01-$3.05 specifically. Been that way all year but will probably change soon.

True true. After all winter when shit was at historic levels, I suppose a better question would be $5 gas. Especially after the Israelis start bombing shit

I thought I read something about a president not ever being reelected when there was high gas prices or something. Not much of a sample size for stats, so not sure if it was true or not.

I saw something on the news 2 nights ago about expeerts predicting we'll be at $5 by summer. It's in the mid-$3.50s here right now.

If you want premium here, you're only about 20 cents or at the rate it's going, 2 days away from paying 5 a gallon.

That's seems to have been the norm here in Lexington even before gas went way up. I'd never seen it before I moved here 6 years ago, but I'm told it's always been that way here.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned but there was a fire at a refinery in Washington that has cut production by 1/2 that is affecting the price of gas in the US.

How do you guys feel about Costco or Safeway gas? Right now it's around 40 cents cheaper per gallon here.

Costco is usually a zoo, with cars running about 10-15 deep at the pumps. Safeway just opened some pumps down the street from my house.

Gas is gas in my opinion. It's the additives that they put in it is what I'd worry about. But, I think here in California, they're pretty restricted as to what they can put in it, so, I'm sure you will be ok. I can't resist....YMMV.

So one refinery processes 50% of the gas on the West Coast? Someone is doing something wrong.

So at least one place I saw it was down to $3.48 on the drive home yesterday, then I'm watching the news and they say gas went up to $3.75 today. So yeah, that sucks.

Yup. Looks like I didn't quite read it correctly. My bad.

With how fast the prices are rising here, it sure does seem like they do refine 50% of the gas that goes to the west coast. Maybe 75%

It's really going to suck for me if American prices are going up. I pay around $7 / gallon (converted to US dollar from Korean won) for diesel. That may go up to $8... ouch for my commute.

All you people posting prices from California are irrelevant, given the high taxes you pay on each gallon. Having spent part of my time in that state annually for years, I have always seen it .25-1.00/g above average or compared to other western states.

Our's just went up 0.08 today to 3.09. Good thing I filled up last week, should be good for a few more weeks.

Last I saw it, it was the same amount as the federal tax rate. I think the federal rate was 18.4 cents a gallon and that's what california's was. I don't know if that's what is is currently though.

A month ago, I got my wife tickets to see Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker for her birthday (she's big into country, I tolerate it). We are taking the 2 hour trip for the weekend to go to Evansville. Of course the temp would drop 20 degrees and gas would jump 40 cents the day before we leave! $3.68 here, was $3.29 earlier this week.

We are taking the 2 hour trip for the weekend to go to Evansville. Of course the temp would drop 20 degrees and gas would jump 40 cents the day before we leave! $3.68 here, was $3.29 earlier this week.

I do the same type of calculations when choosing to drive vs fly. Assuming 100 miles one way and 25 mpg, the 0.40 jump will cost you an extra...$3.20. I would skip one beer at the concert.

Glad someone else does this as I'm currently doing it on a bigger scale. Flights to England in June seem to be in the $1300-1400 range out of Louisville, but Aer Lingus has flights out of Chicago for $1000. If I can find a way to drive to Chicago with someone, it might save me money (Chicago is about 4.5 hours for me).

I think I can handle the $3.20!
