If Duke is eliminated, I'd be very happy. I don't like UConn or Duke much. UConn I don't even remember why, but Duke because North Carolina is one of my top two favourite teams.

Amen. It's not horribly biased one way or another- it just sucks. SI

Threes ain't falling for Duke, but they're already in the 1 and 1 thanks to the refs. Also, Joe Alexander is awesome.

How was that not just called on the Duke fast break? The WVU player clearly held back the Duke guy.

Half of WVU has 3 or 4 fouls now, don't they? Typical Duke game, I suppose.

Duke seems very puny for a top 10 team.

Coach K really needs to change the style of play of his team. The lack of big men has been one of the reasons why they haven't really went far in the tournament.

14 WV offensive rebounds to 4 for Duke. 38-19 overall on the boards in favor of WV. Duke looks to be finished. They've missed 15 threes in a row.

Henderson's air ball was the beginning of the end for Duke. Looks like Duke has given up...

I was relatively confident about this game for WVU. I wasn't sure if they'd win, but Duke was their best matchup out of the high seeds because of their lack of interior play. WVU has really struggled against teams that are strong in the post this season.

I still can't figure out why Duke was a #2 seed. No one realistically expected Duke to make the Final Four, so why were they given a #2 seed? I am beginning to wonder if there isn't some big conference bias in the tournament. The fact that neither North Carolina or Texas have to leave their home state really has me hacked off.

Duke was 7th in the RPI, had the 8th toughest schedule, and 7th best non-conference RPI. Their play over the course of the season said 2 seed, but people who watched them knew their lack of interior play would end up hurting them in the tournament. |

Texas was getting booed throughout their warm ups and during the game, due to the longstanding Longhorns-Razorbacks rivalry. Not really a pro-Texas environment at all.

Dang, I have a bracket at ESPN that is dominating. I hit 27-32 in the first round, not all that great, but I had WVU over Doook.

Awesome win for WVU. Going into the game I thought it was a pretty favorable matchup for WVU, but I was still surprised at exactly how much more athletic the Mountaineers were. Even with Wellington Smith and Da'sean Butler on the bench most of the day, Duke just couldn't hang with WVU in the post, and the guards weren't quick enough to create anything. They basically ended up chucking up a ton of long 3's.

hahahahahaha. Make sure you point this out to any duke fans if they bring it up. Seriously if you root for a great team/successful program, NEVER make excuses. If you root for Duke, UNC, Kansas, UCLA, Kentucky, etc in basketball, never, ever, ever try to play the victim and get sympathy. It won't happen. Grats WVU. Now UNC needs to not choke vs Arkansas and I can give my duke friends shit for years to come |

So now UCLA will play the 8 seed before taking on the winner of the 12/13 teams before likely facing the 7 seed in the Elite 8?

Duke must have been sick for a while, because they ended up the season 6-5 over their last 11 games.

If Xavier doesn't pick it up my West bracket will be in shambles. K-State is playing well only down by 6 despite Wisconsin hitting 7 threes.

Outstanding, UGA and Duke are both out. Now we just need North Carolina to get upset, and the rest of the tournament is just gravy!

I never thought I'd see a team play rougher than what Purdue does. Xavier is that team though.

A Miami upset tomorrow would so make my day and completely erase the memory of last year's miserable football season.

The only game that I've actually cared about in the entire tournament is on the women's side... Wyoming v. Pitt right now. Who would've thought The Pit would be a welcome place for the Cowgirls to play.
I don't know if the Cowgirls can match up with the strength Pitt has inside, but...I'm rooting for the upset. They're a great group of ladies on the court and in real life and so, it'd be great for them to make a lil' run in their first-ever tournament appearance, with some of their great seniors end their careers. |

I don't like packer and packer has said a LOT of stupid things, but that quite possibly was the single most moronic thing that Packer has ever said. I don't know if he honestly thought Virginia Tech or Maryland should have been in somehow, or if he just saw "ACC RPI #1" (how that happened I don't know either, pomeroy rankings have Pac 10 1/Big 12 2 which makes a LOT more sense) and decided it was good enough to create a controversy. |

I'm tired of the ACC homers who always seem to find themselves calling the biggest of games as well....It's a good conference, we get it...
I know the talking heads at ESPM have a good reason to rip on the B10 due to competing interests, but it's getting old...I'm sick of Bo Ryan's football esque-style of play as well, but give it a rest... Last edited by watravaler : 03-22-2008 at 04:55 PM. |

54-53 Wyoming leads with just over 2 1/2 minutes to go in the 2nd half. The Cowgirls want it more, but they're going to have to keep the pressure on Pitt to make sure it stays close down the stretch here. It's winnable though and the girls are looking really good making threes from ridiculous range to keep the pressure on Pitt.

The locations are decided years in advance. North Carolina earned the #1 overall seed(and if you dispute that fine, but they unquestionably earned a 1 seed) and thus earned the most favorable location. Some years that's Charlotte->Atlanta, Greensboro->Florida, Atlanta->East Rutheford, etc, but the 1 seeds always get the most favorable locations. I don't see how that's big conference bias! This is also the first time in the last 20+ years that the first two rounds and a subsequent regional were in North Carolina, so this has not been possible to happen before. |

60-54 Pitt with 33.3 seconds.
I think that Wyoming picked the wrong time to decide to freeze up and Pitt's defense is clamping down nicely and they should get out of here with a win. Nice effort for the team's first trip to the tournament in school history, but they don't really have the personnel to really pressure a team like Pitt for a full 40 minutes. |
