The Fake News Awards, those going to the most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday. The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!

Stephen Miller had to be escorted off CNN's set after his interview with Jake Tapper went off the rails

Looks like CNN just grabbed themselves a fake newsie!

I'm curious, do a lot of American's actually enjoy/respect the tweets, nicknames and 'fake news awards' chicanery, or do even his supporters (in general) just put up with it because they feel he pushes their agenda in the right direction? Is the concept of 'class' and acting 'presidential' just something archaic in large portions of America at this point?

I think a little bit of everything. I know some people who voted for him because they are single issue voters but personally dislike the guy.

There are also plenty of people who like his 'plain speaking' style as opposed to the highly polished manufactured speeches one expects of the PotUS. I'll even admit I am amused by his antics from time to time even though I hate him as President.

As for the whole fake news things, he's just giving his base some meat. They've been hearing for years about the dreaded liberal media and how you can't trust anyone not named Limbaugh or Hannity. He's reinforcing their world-view in that regard.

This is from December, but you can find a number of other polls with similar results.

Quote:
Just 26 percent of 1,500 Americans polled said that Trump's use of Twitter was appropriate, according to a survey from The Economist and YouGov.

That's not fair. He was a track star.

[Miller] jumped, uninvited, into the final stretch of a girls' track meet, apparently intent on proving his athletic supremacy over the opposite sex. (The White House, reaching for exculpatory context, noted that this was a girls' team from another school, not his own.)

It's probably for the best, but it also seems really troublesome that the executive branch runs on its own often contradicting or ignoring the statements of the President.

I really don't think Oprah is qualified to be President. Hollywood elitist snobs at it again.

Now I do think she can play a role in a Cabinet and she can definitely contribute but as prez is going too far IMO.

The irony is that she's basically the only liberal celebrity that is more well liked by "regular voters" than coastal elites.

That said, Dems aren't going to follow the celebrity path because they like the idea that a President should know how the government operates.

MSNBC was exploring the idea of her running on Morning Joe this morning. That would be a huge mistake after we just elected a President with little knowledge of how a government operates (except for how things like natural parks, taxes, and safety regulations for workers prevented him from making more money.) If she's been inspired to run due to Trump, run for the Senate/House, and get some knowledge and experience with issues she's never had to deal with before, and then consider a run for something higher.

Doesn't really matter how skilled she will be as a president. This is where we are as a country, democrats like to pretend that they are 100% educated intellectuals that would never elect a celebrity with no experience. However there are plenty of idiots on both side of the aisle and Oprah would likely bring out a large amount of voters that would not have voted otherwise.

Not that I like it. It's depressing, but this has always been inevitable.

Depending on how you are defining "Dems", either you are overestimating voters or underestimating how little that will matter if Dems think she'll give them a better option to win. I do think the Dem establishment will be more open to her than Republicans were to Trump, she's not an erratic mystery with countless red flags.

Maybe we can just gradually evolve the presidency into a ceremonial king position, which is always occupied by a celebrity who reflects the U.S. mood at the time. So they'd be our "leader" who can influence policy, but they don't actually work "in government." Then the vice-president, or a newly-created prime minister-type position, can operate as the actual head of the executive branch.

Oprah is probably the best of the potential left leaning celebrity candidates. Interestingly, I'm certain she's way more moderate than many people would expect. Still, as I've said in the past, we don't need our own version of Trump.

So it seems Dianne Feinstein was fed up with Chuck Grassley's refusal to release the transcript of the head of the firm behind the now infamous dossier. One in which he had called for to be released. So she went behind his back and released it herself. I'm not bored enough to slog through it all-anyone got some spare time on their hands and want to report back what it said and didn't say

Here's some of the highlights:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/09/sen-...testimony.html
Quote:
Steele, Simpson testified, told him the FBI also had a source inside the Trump operation, although he wasn't sure whether that meant the presidential campaign or the Trump Organization. The bureau was more inclined to believe Steele's information, he said, "because they had other intelligence that indicated the same thing, and one of those pieces of intelligence was a human source from inside the Trump organization."

Simpson touched on how the Trump Organization handles paying taxes: "One of the things we found out was that, you know, when it comes to paying taxes, Donald Trump claims to not have much stuff. At least the Trump organization. So they would make filings with various state and local authorities saying that their buildings weren't worth much."

Simpson discussed Trump's relationship with Sater: "This was something he didn't want to talk about and testified under oath he wouldn't know Felix if he ran into him in the street. That was not true. He knew him well and, in fact, continued to associate with him long after he learned of Felix's organized crime ties. So, you know, that tells you something about somebody."

Fusion GPS Joshua Levy claimed that someone died as a result of the dossier: "Somebody's already been killed as a result of the publication of this dossier and no harm should come to anybody related to this honest work."

Fusion GPS did not secure full access to Trump's tax returns, Simpson said: "They were Trump properties and I believe we may have reviewed some public information about estate taxes and things like that. We didn't have access to his tax returns."

Simpson said he only become aware of the infamous Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer when it was reported in the New York Times: "I was stunned."

Simpson had no "factual reason to believe" the Trump Tower meeting was a Russian attempt to make contact with the Trump campaign, but: "You know, as a sort of question of counterintelligence and just general investigation of Russian methods and that sort of thing, I think that's a reasonable interpretation."

Fusion GPS concluded that Trump "exaggerated" his properties' worth in legal filings — but that did not indicate or show connections to Russia: "Not that I recall."

Simpson said Trump's country clubs aren't making any money: "They were not profitable entities. I don't specifically recall. I just remember that these were not doing very well and that he'd sunk a lot of money into them and he hadn't gotten a lot of money back yet."
