Dec. 8-14, 2025
35 games on the schedule this week, with 1 feature game. We'll get right into it: 12/10/22- UConn (Randolph Childress) @ Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- Another one where UConn was just overmatched, as they shot just 33.3% for the game in another pitiful loss. Final Score: Stanford- 79, UConn- 58 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 3-5, 0-0 American. 12/8/25 vs. Columbia (L 86-78). 12/10/25 at Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. 12/13/25 at UMass- 62-48. The Huskies are just not a good basketball team right now, losers of 4 in a row. They've got 2 more chances to get a win before conference play starts, and neither one look likely the way they are playing. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 4-2, 0-0 ACC. 12/11/25 vs. Lehigh (W 66-53). Just 1 game this week for the Fighting Irish, a feel good win as the schedule toughens up a bit the rest of the month. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 4-3, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 12/11/25 vs. Eastern Michigan (W 80-70). Solid win for the Ospreys who are about to embark on a 4 game road trip, but they are staying in the southeast region for all 4. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 5-2, 0-0 Big 12. 12/9/25 at Pittsburgh (L 89-66). 1 game for the Horned Frogs who were totally overmatched at Pitt, but a couple more winnable games coming up. #20 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 8-1, 0-0 Big East. 12/9/25 vs. Duquesne (W 94-56). 12/14/25 at Maryland Eastern Shore (W 93-76). The Red Storm add 2 more to their win total, beating up on inferior competition this week. It's expected they'll do the same next week. #22 Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 6-0, 0-0 Big Sky. 12/9/25 at Santa Clara (W 96-85). 12/13/25 vs. Pacific (W 80-73). 2 more wins for the Hornets who are definitely surprising a few folks right now, but they've got some massive challenges coming up soon. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 5-1, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/10/25 at Tennessee State (W 71-63). Another win for the Wildcats who are off to a good start, as they continue their stretch of games against strong mid-major competition. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 3-2, 0-0 Conference USA. 12/8/25 at UL Monroe (W 82-48). 12/10/25 at #9 Arizona (L 77-63). A split for the Golden Panthers this week, who ran up against a buzzsaw in Arizona, who is back to having the kind of season we all expect. #21 Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 5-1, 1-1 MAAC. 12/12/25 vs. Rider (L 72-69). 1 game for the Stags, and not the kind of loss you want, losing to a 2-7 team. Even if it was by 3 points, that'll certainly cost them some votes. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 3-4, 0-0 Mountain West. 12/9/25 at San Francisco (W 75-73). A hard fought win for the Spartans in their only game of the week as they continue their road swing through Cali next week. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 5-2, 0-0 Northeast. 12/9/25 vs. Princeton (W 93-73). 12/11/25 vs. Tennessee Tech (L 78-67). A split for the Seahawks, who have a chance to really clean up the rest of the month. Their next 5 games are all on the road, but against teams with a combined record of 13-26. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 2-6, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/9/25 at Iowa State (L 74-60). 12/14/25 vs. Texas Tech (L 62-58). 2 more losses for the Buffaloes, who are pretty bad this season. Both losses came to former Big 12 foes. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 5-2, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/8/25 vs. Louisiana Tech (W 67-64). 12/10/25 vs. UConn- feature game, highlighted above. 2 important wins for the Cardinal as they get ready for their season tournament. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 7-2, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/9/25 vs. Florida State (W 80-74). 12/14/25 at UC Riverside (W 80-72). Consistency for the Bruins this week as they score 80 points each game, but get 2 strong wins. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 5-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/8/25 at Wyoming (W 78-59). 12/11/25 at San Francisco (L 74-59). A split for the Cougars, as they finish off their non-conference schedule with what should, I say should, be 3 easy wins. They really need them all. #10 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 7-1, 0-0 SEC. 12/8/25 vs. Michigan (W 81-73). 12/10/25 at #4 Baylor (L 71-60). 12/12/25 vs. Navy (W 77-59). 12/14/25 at Memphis (W 76-42). Heavy week for the Crimson Tide, not much chance to practice when you play 4 games. They did well though, taking 3 of 4. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 2-5, 0-0 SWAC. 12/9/25 at Syracuse (L 84-57). 12/11/25 vs. Nebraska (L 102-77). 12/14/25 at #19 Georgetown (L 77-68). My goodness, I figured the Golden Lions would take their lumps in non-conference play, but I really thought they'd be a bit more competitive. Sadly it isn't over, they still have 3 more brutal games on the non-conference schedule. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 3-3, 0-0 Sun Belt. 12/8/25 vs. Samford (W 60-52). 12/10/25 at Belmont (W 78-65). Great recovery for the Trojans, who have really played better basketball since their season opening tournament. Now they go into the grind of Sun Belt play. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 4-2, 0-0 WCC. 12/9/25 at Denver (W 79-68). 12/11/25 at UC Irvine (L 66-63). A split for the Toreros, who see their 4 game win streak come to an end. They should be able to start another one, as they have a 5 game home stand coming up, but it's all against mostly west coast teams. Should be interesting. Here's a look at the national top 25 heading into the week of Dec. 15-21: Code:
A little stunned to see Fairfield lose all their votes. I knew they would lose some, but didn't think they'd lose all. Alabama drops 2 spots, even after a 3 for 4 week, while St. John's and Sacramento State both have nice jumps. TCU loses their votes, while Northwestern gains a few more. |

And here's a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Dec. 15-21:
Code:
Great to see a lot of FOFC representation in the mid-major polls, and really great to see Sac State having 6 FPV. On a side note, it's got to be killing Coach Gunn to look up and see his former school sitting at 7-1 and getting votes in both polls while he is continuing to struggle at Pine Bluff. Hopefully it'll turn around when conference play starts. |

Dec. 15-21, 2025
30 games on the schedule this week, and 1 feature game involving a couple teams from Florida. Let's start there: 12/20/25- North Florida (Felix Abel) @ FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- A pretty spirited game that saw North Florida lose a halftime lead. FIU took control in the 2nd half and would have won by more if they wouldn't have missed 15 free throws. Final Score: FIU- 85, North Florida- 75 Now for the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 4-6, 0-0 American. 12/18/25 vs. St. Bonaventure (W 74-62). 12/20/25 at #7 Providence (L 67-53). A split for the Huskies, who continue to struggle getting over the hump. With conference play starting next week, they better figure it out, or Coach Childress will be packing his bags. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 4-3, 0-0 ACC. 12/18/25 vs. Kansas (L 70-61). 1 game for the Fighting Irish this week, a loss. They have their season tournament next week. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 4-6, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 12/16/25 at South Carolina (L 71-50). 12/18/25 at UCF (L 88-57). 12/20/25 at FIU- feature game, highlighted above. Terrible week for the Ospreys, who really weren't competitive in 3 loss this week. A winnable game next week before they go into a feature game with another surprising team. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 7-2, 0-0 Big 12. 12/15/25 at Texas-Rio Grande Valley (W 87-79). 12/20/25 vs. Southeastern Louisiana (W 59-48). 2 pretty easy wins for the Horned Frogs this week. They'll also have a feature game next week, and should get a couple good tests before conference play. #11 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 8-2, 0-0 Big East. 12/19/25 at Hofstra (L 72-69). Just 1 game for the Red Storm this week, a surprising loss to a decent, but not great Hofstra team. This one is sure to hurt them in the rankings. 2 more tough non-conference games next week. #14 Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 7-1, 0-0 Big Sky. 12/18/25 vs. Utah (W 84-76). 12/20/25 at Hawaii (L 66-62). A split for the Hornets who continue to stay on the west coast. That Hawaii result sure won't please former Hawaii coach B.B. Gunn. 1 more west coast game for the Hornets, then they travel to the opposite coast for a game. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 6-1, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/18/25 at Green Bay (W 81-76, OT). The Wildcats needed extra time to earn a big road victory, as they continue to try to get as many wins as possible before conference play starts. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 4-2, 0-0 Conference USA. 12/20/25 vs. North Florida- feature game, highlighted above. A nice win for the Golden Panthers in their only game of the week. 3 games next week, 2 of which should be guaranteed wins, but you never know. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 7-2, 2-2 MAAC. 12/17/25 at Temple (W 63-62). 12/19/25 at Siena (L 69-59). 12/21/25 vs. Siena (W 78-47). More inconsistency from the Stags in back to back games against the same team, but a nice road win at Temple. They better figure out the conference situation though, because 6 of their next 7 are on the road. Thomas Shepard (San Jose State) -- 3-6, 0-0 Mountain West. 12/18/25 at California (L 69-67). 12/20/25 at St. Mary's (L 71-63). A pair of tough road losses for the Spartans, who aren't quite playing as well as last season, but not too far off. 2 home games next week before they start a 3 game road stretch to begin conference play. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 6-3, 0-0 Northeast. 12/16/25 at Lafayette (W 80-65). 12/20/25 at Bowling Green (L 74-53). A road split for the Seahawks, losing a game they probably had no business losing. Fortunately, their next few games are all winnable, as long as the right team shows up to play. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 2-7, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/17/25 at #18 Wichita State (L 95-85). Yet another loss for the Buffaloes, as it seems this team has already given up. They might be lucky to win 10 games this season. Time for Coach Nielsen to start thinking about where he wants to coach next season. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 7-2, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/17/25- Las Vegas Classic First Round vs. (16) Norfolk State (W 73-54). 12/19/25- Las Vegas Classic Quarterfinal vs. (8) Georgia State (W 76-74). The Cardinal win 2 in their season tournament, but have a really tough test coming up in the semifinals. We'll see if they are up to the task. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 8-2, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/20/25 vs. Florida (W 82-48). An easy win this week for the Bruins against a Florida team that has really gone downhill recently. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 6-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/17/25 vs. Seattle (W 59-41). Another win for the Cougars, and next week they have a creampuff coming to town, which should lead to a very easy win. #12 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 7-2, 0-0 SEC. 12/18/25 at Syracuse (L 89-66). Perhaps playing 4 games last week wore the Crimson Tide out, as they failed to show up at Syracuse. Hopefully they'll regroup for next week. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 2-6, 0-0 SWAC. 12/20/25 at #2 Baylor (L 106-81). Another bad loss for the Golden Lions. One thing you can say about Coach Gunn, he's not afraid to get his teams ready for conference play by scheduling tough. We can only hope it works to their advantage this year, especially with the season his former team is having. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 3-4, 0-1 Sun Belt. 12/18/25 at Appalachian State (L 97-77). Well, not a good debut in conference play for the Trojans, as they were completely outclassed and not ready for Sun Belt play. They have to get it together quick. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 7-2, 0-0 WCC. 12/16/25 vs. Grand Canyon (W 84-64). 12/18/25 vs. Long Beach State (W 78-53). 12/20/25 vs. San Diego State (W 63-61). Great week for the Toreros, as they win all 3, including a big in-state win against their in-state rivals. They go into WCC play with a really good feeling, but still have a couple more non-con games mixed in. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Dec. 22-28: Code:
Alabama, St. John's, and Sacramento State all suffer huge drops in the polls, and Alabama actually falls out. On the flip side, Northwestern is in for the first time in a while, and UCLA and Stanford receive votes. Now for a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Dec. 22-28: Code:
Sacramento State stays put at #4 but loses their first place votes, and Fairfield falls out even with a 2-1 week. But good job San Diego who jumps all the way in at #14, and FIU is also still receiving votes. |

Dec. 22-28, 2025
35 games on the schedule this week, with 2 feature games, both non-conference. 11/25/25- Colorado (Rob Nielsen) @ TCU (Bee Mighty) -- Again, it was home cooking in this one, as TCU shot 20 more free throws than Colorado did. Coach Nielsen just can't catch a break this season. Final Score: TCU- 92, Colorado- 83 11/25/25- #23 Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) @ North Florida (Felix Abel) -- Neither team shot the ball exceptionally well in this one, but three pointers were the difference, as Sac State made 12, North Florida only made 4. That was the difference, also Sac State outrebounded North Florida 48-32 for a road win. Final Score: #23 Sacramento State- 67, North Florida- 53 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 4-7, 0-1 American. 12/24/25 vs. Houston (L 63-55). The Huskies continue to struggle in their only game of the week, starting off conference play with a loss. The schedule doesn't get any easier as the AAC is tough this season. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 5-6, 0-0 ACC. 12/22/25- Diamond Head Classic First Round vs. (5) St. Bonaventure (W 82-48). 12/23/25- Diamond Head Classic Semifinal vs. (8) Middle Tennessee (L 78-67). 12/25/25- Diamond Head Classic 3rd Place Game vs. (6) Marquette (L 80-78). 12/28/25 at Western Michigan (L 75-60). A busy week for the Fighting Irish, but not a good one, as they lose 3 of 4 after a good start in their season tournament. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 4-8, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 12/23/25 at Savannah State (L 66-61). 12/25/25 vs. #23 Sacramento State- feature game, highlighted above. 5 losses in a row for the Ospreys, including a terrible loss to Savannah State, who is still not a good team. Then again, neither are the Ospreys. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-3, 0-0 Big 12. 12/22/25 at Oral Roberts (L 83-75). 12/25/25 vs. Colorado- feature game, highlighted above. A split for the Horned Frogs as they go into conference play in decent shape, but as always, the Big 12 is tough. #24 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 9-2, 0-0 Big East. 12/25/25 vs. Columbia (W 95-51). Just 1 game this week for the Red Storm, a throwaway game pretty much. They have a decent non-conference test next week before starting conference play. #23 Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 8-2, 0-0 Big Sky. 12/22/25 at Oregon (L 76-63). 12/25/25 at North Florida- feature game, highlighted above. A split for the Hornets, as both their losses have been against pretty good competition. They are pretty much into conference play now, and by all accounts, they should dominate. Should. #16 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 9-1, 0-0 Big Ten. 12/22/25 vs. UT Martin (W 82-62). 12/24/25 vs. Valparaiso (W 86-66). 12/27/25 at Eastern Michigan (W 94-65). The Wildcats are rolling, and although the competition hasn't been tough, they've won the games they needed to win, and then won some they shouldn't have. 2 more non-conference games next week, and there's no reason why they can't have at least 10 wins going into conference play. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 5-3, 0-0 Conference USA. 12/25/25 vs. Stetson (L 78-58). 12/27/25 at Memphis (W 59-58). A split for the Golden Panthers. Nice win over Memphis, but that loss to Stetson really hurts. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 9-2, 4-2 MAAC. 12/26/25 at Manhattan (W 82-72). 12/28/25 at Marist (W 79-72). 2 big road wins for the Stags, but they aren't done yet. 2 more on the road next week. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 3-8, 0-1 Mountain West. 12/24/25 vs. Nevada (L 83-78). 12/26/25 vs. UC Santa Barbara (L 84-80). Things just aren't going well for the Spartans at all this season, as they are surprising nobody. They needed to win at least 1 of those games this week, but at least next week they get a bit of a reprieve, as they play a conference team that might be worse than them. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 7-4, 1-1 Northeast. 12/25/25 at Sacred Heart (L 88-82). 12/27/25 at St. Francis (PA) (W 86-69). A split for the Seahawks as they open conference play next week. Their next 5 games are critical, as the combined record of those opponents is 12-44. 4 of those 5 games are basically must win games. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 3-8, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/25/25 at TCU- feature game, highlighted above. 12/28/25 vs. Utah State (W 70-58). A split for the Buffaloes, and the win over Utah State breaks a 5 game losing streak. It's also a win against a good team which will hopefully give them a little momentum heading into Pac 12 play next week. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 7-4, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/22/25- Las Vegas Classic Semifinal vs. (5) #17 Georgia (L 85-63). 12/28/25 at St. Bonaventure (L 50-48). Tough week for the Cardinal who get absolutely blasted in their tournament semifinal game, then lose a road game that they probably had no business losing. One more non-con game next week before they open up conference play with the perennial powerhouse. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 9-2, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/25/25 at UC Davis (W 62-50). A much tougher game than expected this week for the Bruins, but they get the road win. Next week, a non-conference feature game, then Pac 12 play starts. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 7-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/22/25 vs. Portland State (W 70-42). The Cougars keep rolling, with another easy victory. Next week should be no different. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 9-2, 0-0 SEC. 12/23/25 vs. Bethune Cookman (W 73-35). 12/26/25 at Kansas (W 72-50). 2 blowout wins for the Crimson Tide, a nice recovery after their blowout loss last week. One more non-conference game next week. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 2-8, 0-0 SWAC. 12/22/25 at Iowa (L 83-76). 12/26/25 at Florida State (L 91-75). A little better effort this week, but still 2 more losses for the Golden Lions, who have lost 7 in a row, all against top competition. Their win over Texas A&M to start December was big, as 5 of their last 7 losses have been by 15+ points. The only saving grace is that they should hopefully be well tested for SWAC play starting next week. It'll be wide open, as no SWAC team has a winning record. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 5-4, 2-1 Sun Belt. 12/25/25 at Arkansas Little Rock (W 95-87). 12/27/25 vs. UL Lafayette (W 75-44). Great turnaround for the Trojans who are back over .500 over and in conference play by winning 2 this week. They've also won 5 of their last 6 and appear to be playing their best ball. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 8-3, 1-1 WCC. 12/25/25 vs. San Francisco (W 80-66). 12/27/25 vs. Santa Clara (L 94-63). The Toreros split this week, but that 31 point loss to Santa Clara will definitely leave a mark. Next week they hit the road for the start of a 4 game road trip in which 3 of the 4 are WCC games. Here's a look at the national top 25 as we go into the week of Dec. 29, 2025-Jan. 4, 2026: Code:
Another huge jump for Northwestern, who might be in the top 10 for the first time since this dynasty started. Unfortunately, now they have to back it up and prove they are for real in conference play. Alabama jumps back in the top 25 after winning 2 games this week, while St. John's moves up 3 spots. UCLA is right on the cusp, an undefeated week next week should get them back in. Stanford and Sacramento State split and lose all their votes. Stanford I can see, but I'm not sure Sacramento State deserves to lose all their votes after being ranked last week, but so be it. Now for the mid-major top 25 heading into the week of Dec. 29, 2025-Jan. 4, 2026: Code:
Sacramento State has a pretty huge drop in this poll as well, while Fairfield jumps all the way in. San Diego drops 5 spots, and FIU is still receiving votes. |

Dec. 29, 2025-Jan. 4, 2026
29 games on the schedule this week, and 1 feature game. It's a non-conference game, so let's start there. 1/2/26- FIU (Brett Hawkins) @ UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- The Bruins pretty much dominated this one, as they shot 57.1% from the field. The real difference came at the free throw line, as UCLA made 11 more free throws, shooting 20% better from the line for an important home win. Final Score: UCLA- 81, FIU- 68 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 4-9, 0-3 American. 12/31/25 at Temple (L 71-53). 1/3/26 at ECU (L 73-56). Things aren't getting any better for the Huskies, as they weren't competitive this week in 2 road games. The writing is definitely on the wall for Coach Childress. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 6-6, 1-0 ACC. 12/31/25 at Boston College (W 72-70). Just 1 game this week for the Fighting Irish, as they win their conference opener, a much needed win. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 5-9, 0-0 Atlantic Sun. 1/1/26 vs. Rice (L 68-54). 1/3/26 at Norfolk State (W 75-47). A split for the Ospreys this week, as they have a non-conference feature game next week before heading into conference play. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-5, 0-2 Big 12. 12/29/25 at West Virginia (L 77-62). 1/3/26 at Texas Tech (L 90-86). A rude awakening for the Horned Frogs, as they lose their first 2 conference games of the season. Coach Mighty knew it would get tougher, and he was right. #19 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 11-2, 1-0 Big East. 1/1/26 at George Washington (W 71-62). 1/3/26 vs. Marquette (W 84-83). The Red Storm were tested this week, but they got by both of them, including their conference opener. They had to work for it though. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 8-3, 0-0 Big Sky. 12/30/25 vs. UC Davis (L 75-60). Not a good way to go into conference play for the Hornets, bad loss to a subpar UC Davis team. #8 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 11-1, 0-0 Big Ten. 1/1/26 at Ole Miss (W 69-54). 1/3/26 at Chicago State (W 84-74). The Wildcats get 2 more big wins this week, and that win over Ole Miss will look nice going into Big Ten play. As will the 11 wins. Now can they keep the momentum? FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 6-4, 0-0 Conference USA. 12/29/25 vs. Texas-Rio Grande Valley (W 102-101). 1/2/26 at UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. A split for the Golden Panthers, and a little bit of struggle as they let a 4 win team put up over 100 points against them. That's not a positive sign. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 10-2, 5-2 MAAC. 1/2/26 at Niagara (W 60-57). Another tough road victory for the Stags, who had to come from behind to do it, but still, it's another victory. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 4-9, 1-2 Mountain West. 12/31/25 at Air Force (W 102-94). 1/3/26 at Fresno State (L 75-72). A more promising week for the Spartans. Even though they split, they seem to be playing a bit better basketball over the last few games. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 9-4, 2-1 Northeast. 12/29/25 at Portland State (W 77-68). 1/3/26 vs. Bryant (W 92-69). 2 wins for the Seahawks this week, as they've won 3 in a row, although they were expected to win both these games. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 3-9, 0-0 Pac 12. 1/1/26 at Illinois (L 79-70). Another game, another loss for the Buffaloes, who have lost 6 of their last 7 heading into Pac 12 play. If they don't pick it up fast, they might lose 20 games this season. It's gonna take a miracle for Coach Nielsen to keep his job. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 8-4, 0-0 Pac 12. 12/31/25 at Montana State (W 78-52). A much needed feel good win for the Cardinal going into conference play, where it gets brutal right off the bat. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 10-2, 0-0 Pac 12. 1/2/26 vs. FIU- feature game, highlighted above. Just the 1 game for the Bruins this week, a good win. They start off Pac 12 play with 3 on the road. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 8-3, 0-0 Pac 12. 1/2/26 vs. Montana State (W 91-65). Another easy win for the Cougars this week, no big surprise. They have a pretty easy conference opener too, at least it should be. #16 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 10-2, 0-0 SEC. 12/31/25 at Minnesota (W 57-48). Another win for the Crimson Tide going into SEC play, as it appears to be a bit of a down conference this season. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 4-8, 2-0 SWAC. 12/29/25 at Jackson State (W 77-54). 1/3/26 at Grambling State (W 109-75). Exactly what Coach Gunn was hoping for by playing a grueling non-conference schedule. The Golden Lions open SWAC play with 2 wins. Although the conference is really bad, take nothing away from Coach Gunn who has his team prepared. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 7-4, 3-1 Sun Belt. 12/29/25 vs. Georgia State (W 80-64). 1/1/26 vs. Florida Gulf Coast (W 100-89). 2 more wins for the Trojans, as they keep rolling along. The non-conference win over Georgia State was big, as they are a good team. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 8-5, 1-3 WCC. 1/1/26 at USC (L 96-94, OT). 1/3/26 at Portland (L 82-79). Tough week for the Toreros, who lose 2 games by a combined 5 points. They've lost 3 in a row now and need to right the ship. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Jan. 5-11: Code:
Northwestern drops 3 spots, despite winning 2 games this week, including a road win at Ole Miss. St. John's moves up 7 spots, while Alabama moves up 3 spots. UCLA is back where they belong, back in the top 25. Also receiving votes now is Fairfield! Now a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Jan. 5-11: Code:
Fairfield jumps 4 spots, while Sacramento State drops 6 spots. Wagner is now receiving votes, albeit just a couple. FIU still has 1 vote. San Diego lost all theirs. |

35 games on the schedule this week, and 2 feature games. We'll start with a non-conference game. 1/6/26- San Diego (Charlie Shocker) @ North Florida (Felix Abel) -- This one was a classic, with several lead changes. Despite shooting just 6 free throws, North Florida was able to hit a buzzer beater to shock San Diego. Final Score: North Florida- 84, San Diego- 83 Now we move to a conference game in the Pac 12. 1/10/26- Washington State (DeShawn St. John) @ Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- The Cardinal roll in this one, holding Washington State to just 36.9% shooting, and outrebounding them 44-31 in a big road victory. Final Score: Stanford- 75, Washington State- 58 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 5-10, 1-4 American. 1/7/26 at #16 UCF (W 81-69). 1/10/26 vs. South Florida (L 81-68). A split for the Huskies, who get their first conference win, but then drop another one. Really important for them to win both next week, and they have a chance. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 7-7, 2-1 ACC. 1/7/26 at Wake Forest (W 83-61). 1/10/26 vs. #2 Louisville (L 78-59). A split for the Fighting Irish who played well at Wake Forest, but couldn't sustain that momentum going back home. Next week, one of those quirky home/away series against the same team. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 7-9, 1-0 Atlantic Sun. 1/6/26 vs. San Diego- feature game, highlighted above. 1/10/26 vs. Kennesaw State (W 68-47). Huge week for the Ospreys who have won 3 in a row, but they'll be tested next week for sure. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-6, 0-3 Big 12. 1/10/26 at Iowa State (L 92-78). Just 1 game this week for the Horned Frogs, and they weren't overly competitive. Hopefully next week they can get off the snide, as they have a winnable game. #12 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 13-2, 3-0 Big East. 1/7/26 vs. #24 Georgetown (W 91-83). 1/10/26 vs. Creighton (W 97-57). Better results this week for the Red Storm, as they win more convincingly, including getting a win over a ranked team. The win over Georgetown was career win #200 for Coach Hoo. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 9-4, 1-1 Big Sky. 1/8/26 vs. Eastern Washington (W 63-55). 1/10/26 at North Dakota (L 79-46). A split for the Hornets who get absolutely blasted at North Dakota. They'll want to get that game out of their systems as soon as possible. #11 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 13-1, 2-0 Big Ten. 1/7/26 vs. #10 Indiana (W 88-66). 1/10/26 at Illinois (W 64-54). This Wildcats team just might be for real, as they dominate in conference play this week. We still need to learn more about them though, and a top 10 road battle next week will be telling. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 8-4, 2-0 Conference USA. 1/8/26 vs. North Texas (W 108-98). 1/10/26 at Rice (W 86-60). Good start to conference play for the Golden Panthers with 2 convincing victories, and I see no reason why they can't keep that up as the C-USA is another down conference this season. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 11-3, 5-3 MAAC. 1/6/26 at Brown (W 81-80). 1/9/26 vs. Marist (L 77-68). A split for the Stags, who win a non-conference game but fall in conference, breaking a 5 game win streak. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 4-11, 1-4 Mountain West. 1/7/26 at Colorado State (L 89-73). 1/10/26 vs. UNLV (L 77-74). 1 step forward and 2 steps back for the Spartans, as they lose 2 this week. 1 of them was close at least, but the other, not so close. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 11-4, 4-1 Northeast. 1/8/26 vs. LIU Brooklyn (W 91-88, OT). 1/10/26 vs. St. Francis-NY (W 63-61). It wasn't easy, but the Seahawks won 2 more games this week, including 1 in overtime. They are beating the teams they need to beat. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 5-9, 2-0 Pac 12. 1/8/26 at Washington (W 83-76). 1/10/26 vs. #17 Gonzaga (W 84-76). Well hello Buffaloes! Welcome back! Looked like a brand new team out there this week as they open Pac 12 play with 2 victories and some huge momentum. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 10-4, 2-0 Pac 12. 1/8/26 vs. #3 Arizona (W 71-62). 1/10/26 vs. Washington State- feature game, highlighted above. Big week for the Cardinal as they stun Arizona, then follow it up with a good feature game victory. They've got another critical feature game coming up next week. #18 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 11-3, 1-1 Pac 12. 1/8/26 at Arizona State (W 82-56). 1/10/26 at Washington (L 85-76). A split for the Bruins, who see their 6 game losing streak end at Washington. With 2 more really tough games coming next week, we'll see what happens. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 9-4, 1-1 Pac 12. 1/8/26 vs. Oregon State (W 55-51). 1/10/26 at Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. Not the best of weeks for the Cougars, who struggle against what might be the worst team in the conference, then get blown out by what could be one of the best. #13 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 12-2, 2-0 SEC. 1/7/26 at Texas A&M (W 79-77). 1/10/26 vs. Florida (W 72-58). The Crimson Tide get 2 wins to open conference play this week, but the win at Texas A&M was grueling. Still though, they are on good pace so far. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 5-9, 3-1 SWAC. 1/5/26 vs. Alabama State (L 96-91). 1/10/26 vs. Alabama A&M (W 87-81). A split for the Golden Lions, as they couldn't quite handle the offensive output of Alabama State. Good job righting the ship, and they need to keep it rolling. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 7-6, 3-3 Sun Belt. 1/8/26 vs. Arkansas State (L 91-65). 1/10/26 at Arkansas State (L 94-85). 2 losses for the Trojans this week, as Arkansas State beat them pretty handily both times. Another 1 step forward and 2 steps backward situation. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 8-7, 1-4 WCC. 1/6/26 at North Florida- feature game, highlighted above. 1/10/26 at BYU (L 78-65). 2 more losses for the Toreros, and that loss to North Florida will sting for a while. Fortunately, conference play is eased up next week as they face 2 teams with a losing record. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Jan. 12-18: Code:
Northwestern continues to surprise everybody, moving up 5 spots, while St. John's and Alabama each move up 3 spots. UCLA drops 5 spots after their split this week, and the Fairfield split costs them some votes, but they still got.. well.. 1. Now for the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Jan. 12-18: Code:
Fairfield drops 5 spots after their split this week, and Sacramento State falls out of the mid-major top 25, but FIU and Wagner pick up more votes. |

B.B. Gunn is either a shrewd genius for scheduling tough non-conference or looney... Looks like it's working so far, more or less. If UAPB gets the automatic tourney bid Gunn has to be up there for coach of the year.
Glad to see Wazzu get off to a good start but as Stanford showed the Pac-12 is no piece of cake. And what happened to Hawaii's hot start? Not that I care...

Since the win over Sacramento State on December 20th, 2025, they've lost 4 of their last 5, including their conference opener. They are now 9-6 and head back to mediocrity it seems. Coach Gunn can smile again. |

38 games on the schedule, with one of those being a big time feature game between Pac 12 schools. Let's start there: 1/15/26- #23 UCLA (Tim Shepard) @ Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- UCLA lived by the three and died by the three in this one, shooting just 27.3% from behind the arc. Meanwhile, Stanford shot 46.2% from three point land. That and a few extra free throws was the difference. Final Score: Stanford- 70, #23 UCLA- 60 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 5-12, 1-6 American. 1/14/26 vs. Tulsa (L 88-77). 1/17/26 at Memphis (L 80-65). Things don't look to get much better this season, as it appears Coach Ginsberg has all but thrown in the towel and accepted his fate. We know the Huskies have the potential to play well as they did at a ranked UCF team, they just don't seem to be able to do it consistently, or often. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 8-8, 3-2 ACC. 1/14/26 vs. Georgia Tech (W 68-59). 1/17/26 at Georgia Tech (L 79-71). A split for the Fighting Irish, against the same team. They lost on the road but win at home. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 8-10, 2-1 Atlantic Sun. 1/15/26 vs. UL Monroe (W 74-70). 1/17/26 vs. #15 USC Upstate (L 80-71). A split for the Ospreys, who can't get it done in there 2nd big time game of the season. The shining grace is that they have a chance to reel off a few wins in a row if they can take care of business. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-8, 0-5 Big 12. 1/12/26 vs. #4 Baylor (L 85-72). 1/17/26 vs. Kansas State (L 70-68). 2 more losses for the Horned Frogs, who are getting closer to their first conference win, but no cigar. #9 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 14-3, 4-1 Big East. 1/14/26 at Xavier (W 74-59). 1/17/26 at Seton Hall (L 98-90). A split for the Red Storm, who drop their first game of Big East play this season, but are still in real good shape. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 10-5, 2-2 Big Sky. 1/15/26 at Idaho (L 66-62). 1/17/26 vs. Montana State (W 79-55). Another split for the Hornets, who now enter the extremely easy part of their conference schedule. The average win total of their next 8 games is just under 5, with only one of those teams currently having a winning record. #6 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 14-2, 3-1 Big Ten. 1/14/26 at #8 Iowa (L 95-65). 1/17/26 at Purdue (W 83-68). A split for the Wildcats, who forgot to show up at Iowa, but fortunately will get another chance against them later in the season. Good bounce back win at Purdue though. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 9-5, 3-1 Conference USA. 1/15/26 vs. South Dakota State (L 79-68). 1/17/26 vs. Louisiana Tech (W 82-74). A really bad loss for the Golden Panthers this week to a 5 win team, but at least they were able to salvage the split. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 14-3, 7-3 MAAC. 1/12/26 at Yale (W 91-79). 1/16/26 at Quinnipiac (W 83-78). 1/18/26 vs. Quinnipiac (W 72-61). Huge week for the Stags who win 3 games, including a tough road game in non-conference play, and a road/home split against the same team. Now the schedule gets a bit easier. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 5-12, 2-5 Mountain West. 1/14/26 vs. #20 Utah State (L 86-71). 1/17/26 at New Mexico (W 87-81). A split for the Spartans, as the road win at New Mexico broke a 4 game losing streak, but this team is still not surprising anybody this season. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 12-5, 5-2 Northeast. 1/15/26 at Mt. St. Mary's (L 72-69). 1/17/26 at Robert Morris (W 84-77). A split this week for the Seahawks, who have still won 6 of 7. The tough loss at Mt. St. Mary's broke a 5 game winning streak, but they've got a few winnable games in a row. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 7-9, 4-0 Pac 12. 1/15/26 vs. Oregon State (W 85-44). 1/17/26 vs. Utah (W 66-50). Well, this feels like a completely different Buffalo team, as they've gotten off to a hot start in Pac 12 play. We'll learn a lot more as their next 3 games are against Arizona, UCLA, and Stanford. If they can steal 1 of those, there's still hope. Win 2, and people might talk. Win all 3?.... Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 12-4, 4-0 Pac 12. 1/15/26 vs. #23 UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. 1/17/26 at Oregon (W 79-69). 2 solid wins for the Cardinal, as they continue to roll to begin conference play. #23 UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 11-5, 1-3 Pac 12. 1/15/26 at Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. 1/17/26 vs. #7 Arizona (L 64-53). Probably no cause for alarm for the Bruins, even though they lost both their games this week. 2 feature games on tap next week. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 10-5, 2-2 Pac 12. 1/15/26 at Utah (L 77-57). 1/17/26 vs. Gonzaga (W 85-83, OT). A split for the Cougars, who are just trying to hang tough in an always tough Pac 12. It won't get any easier going forward. #10 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 14-2, 2-0 SEC. 1/14/26 vs. Arkansas (W 85-68). 1/17/26 at Auburn (W 66-58). 2 more wins for the Crimson Tide, who seem to be back on track after last weeks disastrous season. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 6-10, 4-2 SWAC. 1/12/26 at Southern (W 90-81). 1/17/26 at Alcorn State (L 78-53). A split for the Golden Lions, who are going to have to do better if they are going to sneak into the postseason. They already know it's win either the conference regular season or conference tournament to make the postseason. Right now they aren't playing consistently enough to do either. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 9-6, 5-3 Sun Belt. 1/15/26 vs. South Alabama (W 78-70). 1/17/26 at Florida Gulf Coast (W 77-71). The Trojans get back on track with a couple wins this week, and hopefully they can keep it going next week. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 8-9, 1-6 WCC. 1/15/26 vs. St. Mary's (L 77-70). 1/17/26 vs. Pacific (L 112-105, OT). The month of January has not been kind for the Toreros, who are still looking for their first win this month. Coach Shocker might want to take a step back and rethink things. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Jan. 19-25: Code:
Northwestern and St. John's drop a few spots after splitting this week, while Alabama moves up after winning 2. Fairfield's great week gets them back in the top 25, while UCLA loses all their votes. Stanford is back to receiving votes, close to being in the top 25. Now a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Jan. 19-25: Code:
FIU and Sacramento State lose all their votes after splits this week, while Fairfield moves up 4 spots. Wagner is still receiving a few votes. |

Jan. 19-25, 2026
35 games on the schedule this week, with 2 of them being feature games. Both of them PAC 12 games, both involving UCLA. 1/22/26- Washington State (DeShawn St. John) @ UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- This one was a good one, as Washington State led by 5 at halftime, but they really cooled off in the second half. Shooting just 35.8% for the game cost them a really good chance to win, as they fall just short. Final Score: UCLA- 73, Washington State- 70 1/24/26- Colorado (Rob Nielsen) @ UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- A much easier one for UCLA this week as they led by 20 at halftime and never looked back. Although Colorado did get it to single digits, they were never really in the game. Final Score: UCLA- 76, Colorado- 67 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 6-12, 2-6 American. 1/24/26 vs. Tulane (W 77-68). Just 1 game for the Huskies this week, but they break a 3 game losing streak and get a nice home win. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 8-10, 3-4 ACC. 1/21/26 vs. Miami (FL) (L 90-79). 1/24/26 vs. Wake Forest (L 85-84). Tough week for the Fighting Irish who drop 2 games, including a heartbreaker against Wake Forest. They really needed these 2 wins as the schedule gets much, much tougher the next few games. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 9-11, 3-2 Atlantic Sun. 1/22/26 at Lipscomb (L 79-73). 1/24/26 at NJIT (W 79-78). A road split for the Ospreys who again really needed to win both. They need to take advantage of the weaker teams in the conference, but at least they salvaged one win. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-10, 0-7 Big 12. 1/19/26 at Texas (L 72-64). 1/24/26 at Oklahoma State (L 80-79). Even though the Horned Frogs lost 2 more this week, they played much better basketball and almost stole one at Oklahoma State. Hopefully Coach Mighty will get this team on the same path, because they have plenty of opportunities for wins coming soon. #13 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 16-3, 6-1 Big East. 1/21/26 vs. DePaul (W 95-54). 1/24/26 vs. #17 Providence (W 71-62). 2 more relatively easy wins for the Red Storm, who have a critical top 10 matchup coming next week, on the road. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 12-5, 4-2 Big Sky. 1/22/26 at Idaho State (W 75-60). 1/24/26 vs. Northern Colorado (W 85-67). The Hornets are rolling again, winners of 3 in a row after losing 3 of 4. Now is the time for them to really roll off a winning streak and make some noise. #10 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 15-3, 4-2 Big Ten. 1/21/26 vs. Purdue (W 87-73). 1/24/26 vs. Minnesota (L 87-79). A home split for the Wildcats this week, as they continue to impress, but they'll have to up their play a little bit if they want to continue to compete in the Big Ten this season. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 11-5, 5-1 Conference USA. 1/22/26 at Old Dominion (W 69-51). 1/24/26 vs. Marshall (W 83-40). Total domination for the Panthers this week, who might have had their best week of basketball all season. Coach Hawkins has this team on the right path, so far. #25 Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 16-3, 9-3 MAAC. 1/23/26 vs. St. Peter's (W 72-68). 1/25/26 at Monmouth (W 71-59). 2 more wins for the Stags, who are definitely exceeding expectations this season. The 16 wins Fairfield has this season already ties the record for season wins in Fairfield history since this dynasty started, and more than likely it will be shattered. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 6-13, 3-5 Mountain West. 1/20/26 at Northwestern State (L 77-76). 1/24/26 vs. Boise State (W 87-83). A split this week for the Spartans as they lose a tough, road non-conference heartbreaker. They get an important conference win though. The basketball is better, but still work to do. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 14-5, 7-2 Northeast. 1/22/26 vs. Central Connecticut (W 100-64). 1/24/26 vs. Fairleigh Dickinson (W 75-42). An easy week for the Seahawks who dismantled a couple opponents at home. They also are playing really good basketball right now. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 7-11, 4-2 Pac 12. 1/22/26 at #4 Arizona (L 86-62). 1/24/26 at UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. It was a good run, but I think the real Buffaloes team showed up this week. They were pretty much dominated in 2 games. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 14-4, 6-0 Pac 12. 1/22/26 at Arizona State (W 82-62). 1/24/26 at Utah (W 84-63). A road sweep for the Cardinal, who continue to be very impressive after a brief 2 game losing streak in late December. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 13-5, 3-3 Pac 12. 1/22/26 vs. Washington State- feature game, highlighted above. 1/24/26 vs. Colorado- feature game, highlighted above. 2 solid wins for the Bruins, although they had to work a little harder than expected for the Washington State win. Still, they've even their conference record. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 11-6, 3-3 Pac 12. 1/22/26 at UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. 1/24/26 vs. Arizona State (W 71-68). A split for the Cougars, who probably should have beat UCLA. It's still hard to get a read on this team, but they haven't lost at home yet which is encouraging. #8 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 16-2, 6-0 SEC. 1/21/26 at Florida (W 92-56). 1/24/26 vs. South Carolina (W 56-44). The Crimson Tide continue to roll, as the win over South Carolina was Coach Rogers' 200th career victory. They should get a mighty test next week as they go on the road against another top ten team. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 7-11, 5-2 SWAC. 1/19/26 at UL Lafayette (L 88-84). 1/24/26 at Mississippi Valley State (W 72-61). A split for the Golden Lions on the road. They lose a tough non-conference game but win a conference game they were expected to win. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 11-6, 7-3 Sun Belt. 1/22/26 vs. Northern Kentucky (W 91-77). 1/24/26 at Georgia Southern (W 89-72). 2 solid wins for the Trojans as they continue to improve, winners of 4 in a row. Still a lot of work to do though but they are playing good ball right now. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 9-10, 2-7 WCC. 1/22/26 at Pepperdine (W 81-64). 1/24/26 at Loyola Marymount (L 79-75). A road split for the Toreros, as the win at Pepperdine broke a 7 game losing streak. Then they turned around and lost another game. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1: Code:
So Alabama moves up 1 spot, while St. John's moves up 3 spots. Northwestern only moves down 1 spot after their split. Fairfield moves up 3 spots and Stanford is ranked again! Also receiving 1 vote is UCLA. And now a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1: Code:
Fairfield moves up 3 spots, and FIU gets votes back, getting enough votes to be ranked again! Impressive. Wagner continues to receive more votes, and Sacramento State gets their votes back. |

Jan. 25-Feb. 1, 2026
37 games on the schedule this week, with 1 feature game, in the Pac 12. Let's get to it. 1/29/26- #20 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) @ Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- This one was bad, and I do mean bad. Colorado shot just 26.9% from the field, scoring 21 first half points. To put it in perspective how bad it was, Stanford almost scored more points in the first half than Colorado did all game. Final Score: #20 Stanford- 72, Colorado- 38 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 7-13, 2-7 American. 1/28/26 vs. San Diego State (W 74-65). 1/31/26 at SMU (L 83-59). A split for the Huskies, who win a home non-conference game, but get blasted on the road in conference play. That's not gonna cut it. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 9-11, 4-5 ACC. 1/28/26 at North Carolina (W 90-81). 1/31/26 at #1 Virginia (L 81-56). A split for the Fighting Irish. Good win at North Carolina, but really needed a better effort at Virginia. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 10-12, 4-3 Atlantic Sun. 1/29/26 vs. Stetson (W 85-65). 1/31/26 vs. Jacksonville (L 72-70). A split for the Ospreys, who just can't quite get over the hump and get back to .500. They are still over .500 in conference play, but nowhere near their season goal yet. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 8-12, 0-9 Big 12. 1/26/26 vs. Kansas (L 76-67). 1/31/26 vs. #16 Oklahoma (L 85-74). Halfway through conference play and the Horned Frogs are still looking for their first Big 12 win, coming close a few times. This is definitely a struggling team. #10 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 18-3, 8-1 Big East. 1/28/26 at #8 Villanova (W 76-55). 1/31/26 at Butler (W 84-68). 2 more solid wins for the Red Storm, including a big top 10 win over Villanova. They just continue to take care of business. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 14-5, 6-2 Big Sky. 1/29/26 at Montana (W 56-48). 1/31/26 at Weber State (W 83-74). 2 more wins for the Hornets, both on the road, and they are rolling right now, winners of 5 in a row. #11 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 16-4, 5-3 Big Ten. 1/28/26 at Minnesota (L 92-84). 1/31/26 vs. Illinois (W 82-61). A split for the Wildcats, who just couldn't quite figure out Minnesota this season. Still though, this is the best season Coach Vee has had in quite a while. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 13-5, 7-1 Conference USA. 1/29/26 at North Texas (W 61-49). 1/31/26 at Louisiana Tech (W 75-66). The Golden Panthers are hot right now, winning 2 more on the road this week. They are putting themselves in great position for the postseason. #22 Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 18-3, 11-3 MAAC. 1/30/26 at Rider (W 65-49). 2/1/26 at Canisius (W 87-47). 2 more wins for the Stags, both on the road. They are definitely exceeding expectations, but still a long way to go. It looks promising for a good finish though. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 7-14, 3-6 Mountain West. 1/26/26 at Seattle (W 79-73). 1/31/26 at Wyoming (L 83-81). A road split for the Spartans, who really needed that conference win at Wyoming. They fell just short though, and Coach Shepard is still trying to get this team as consistent as last season. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 15-6, 8-2 Northeast. 1/29/26 at Cincinnati (L 104-94). 1/31/26 at Bryant (W 77-66). A split for the Seahawks, who hung tough against Cincinnati, but couldn't get a big non-conference win. So far they are in great position in the conference, but they'll face some of the other top teams soon. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 8-12, 5-3 Pac 12. 1/29/26 vs. #20 Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. 1/31/26 at California (W 66-51). A split for the Buffaloes, and good to see them get a road win after they were dismantled by Stanford. #20 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 16-4, 8-0 Pac 12. 1/29/26 at Colorado- feature game, highlighted above. 1/31/26 vs. Gonzaga (W 59-56). The Cardinal win 2 more this week, but had to come from behind against Gonzaga to do it, as they trailed by 12 at halftime in that one. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 13-7, 3-5 Pac 12. 1/29/26 at Oregon State (L 81-80). 1/31/26 vs. Oregon (L 74-61). 2 bad losses for the Bruins, as they continue to struggle to find consistency, and will be in real danger of missing the NCAA Tournament if they don't pick it up. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 12-7, 4-4 Pac 12. 1/29/26 at California (W 61-55). 1/31/26 at #3 Arizona (L 69-68). So close for the Cougars, who almost pulled off a major road upset. This Cougars team has a chance to make the postseason, but they've got to be able to beat the worst of the worst in the conference, and finish off games against the better teams. #7 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 17-3, 7-1 SEC. 1/28/26 at #6 Vanderbilt (L 68-46). 1/31/26 vs. Auburn (W 100-60). A split for the Crimson Tide who looked bad in a Top 10 game, but a good recovery to blow out Auburn. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 8-12, 6-3 SWAC. 1/26/26 vs. Texas Southern (W 75-61). 1/31/26 vs. Prairie View A&M (L 81-74). Another split for the Golden Lions, who remain in the hunt for the SWAC title, but splits aren't going to cut it going forward. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 12-7, 8-4 Sun Belt. 1/29/26 vs. Arkansas Little Rock (L 74-68). 1/31/26 at UL Lafayette (W 93-76). A split for the Trojans, as they also continue to stay in the hunt for an NCAA berth, but they really need to develop another winning streak, as the loss to Little Rock broke a 4 game win streak. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 11-10, 4-7 WCC. 1/29/26 vs. Portland (W 102-58). 1/31/26 vs. USC (W 83-72). Looks like the Toreros might finally be getting it together, as they've won 3 of their last 4 and are playing really good basketball right now. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Feb. 2-8: Code:
So St. John's moves up a spot while Alabama moves down 3. Northwestern drops 2 spots, and Stanford moves up 4. Fairfield moves up 2 spots. UCLA loses their votes. Now a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Feb. 2-8: Code:
Despite moving up 2 spots in the national top 25, Fairfield drops 5 spots in the mid-major top 25. What?? FIU moves up 2 spots while Sacramento State and Wagner receive votes. It's time for this seasons first edition of the Bubble Watch. We'll start with the Overall Bubble Watch which sees 2 of our teams in: Code:
FIU is in a good position, far better than they have been. They have a 3-3 record against the RPI top 100, but their strength of schedule could be their downfall. UCLA is the last team in at the moment. They've been on a bit of a slide, 6-4 against the RPI top 100. Their strength of schedule could also end up being a concern. Now for the rest of the teams. Remember, this is only for the NCAA Tournament. If your team isn't mention is a lock or projected in, that means they are obviously projected out. Locks: St. John's, Northwestern, Stanford, Alabama In: Fairfield |

Feb. 2-8, 2026
38 games on the schedule this week and no feature games, let's get right to the weekly recap. UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 8-14, 3-8 T-10th (last) American. 2/4/26 vs. #18 UCF (L 73-61). 2/7/26 at Tulane (W 84-82, OT). A split for the Huskies, as they win on the road in OT. Normally that would be considered a good win, but Tulane is down this year. Needless to say, Coach Childress has all but packed it in. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 9-13, 4-7 T-10th ACC. 2/4/26 vs. Florida State (L 89-82). 2/7/26 at #2 Louisville (L 79-70). Better effort this week for the Fighting Irish, but the result is still the same, 2 losses. The struggles continue. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 11-13, 5-3 3rd Atlantic Sun. 2/2/26 at Longwood (L 74-66). 2/7/26 at Kennesaw State (W 86-66). A weird week for the Ospreys, as they lose a non-conference game to a not so good team, but they get a big win on the road against the conference leaders. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 9-13, 0-10 10th (last) Big 12. 2/5/26 at Eastern Illinois (W 75-65). 2/7/26 vs. Iowa State (L 90-81). A split for the Horned Frogs, who at least get a non-conference win, but they are still on pace for an 0-fer in the Big 12. #9 St. John's (Dean Hoo) --19-4, 9-2 1st Big East. 2/4/26 at Creighton (W 97-66). 2/7/26 at Georgetown (L 86-82). A road split for the Red Storm who are still on top in the conference. No shame in losing to a team like Georgetown, as they are competing for a conference title as well. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 16-5, 8-2 T-1st Big Sky. 2/5/26 vs. Portland State (W 67-53). 2/7/26 at Northern Colorado (W 68-57). 2 more wins for the Hornets who have now won 7 in a row and continue to roll. #13 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 18-4, 7-3 T-2nd Big Ten. 2/4/26 vs. Nebraska (W 93-90). 2/7/26 vs. #7 Iowa (W 70-59). Huge week for the Wildcats as they get another key top ten win, handing Iowa their first conference loss. They continue to exceed expectations in a big way. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 15-5, 9-1 2nd Conference USA. 2/5/26 vs. Rice (W 80-67). 2/7/26 at South Dakota State (W 75-38). A sweep this week for the Golden Panthers, who get revenge on South Dakota State by hammering them on the road. If not for that loss earlier in the season, they'd be undefeated in conference and tied for first. Still though, they are in a much better spot than they were the last couple seasons. #20 Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 20-3, 12-3 1st MAAC. 2/3/26 vs. Central Connecticut (W 84-70). 2/8/26 vs. Niagara (W 73-60). 2 more wins for the Stags, who have won 9 in a row and 14 of their last 15. They are another team completely exceeding expectations. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 9-14, 5-6 7th Mountain West. 2/4/26 vs. Colorado State (W 96-79). 2/7/26 at Boise State (W 86-77). A couple big wins for the Spartans this week, including a big road win over the conference leaders in Boise State. We'll see what happens next week, but Coach Shepard seems to have this team playing good ball again. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 17-6, 10-2 1st Northeast. 2/5/26 at St. Francis (NY) (W 65-55). 2/7/26 at LIU Brooklyn (W 108-66). Total domination this week on the road for the Seahawks, as they continue to take care of business, having won 6 of their last 7. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 9-13, 6-4 3rd Pac 12. 2/5/26 at Oregon State (W 80-52). 2/7/26 vs. California (L 73-67). The Buffaloes split this week, and just can't find a way to get a series of wins going on. Fortunately for them, the Pac 12 has so much parity this season that they are still in competition for a conference title, but they've got to get a good winning streak going. #16 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 17-5, 9-1 1st Pac 12. 2/5/26 vs. Arizona State (W 77-68). 2/7/26 at #3 Arizona (L 85-68). A split for the Cardinal, who can't survive that big test with Arizona. Their first conference loss, but fortunately they don't have to play Arizona again, and it'll take an upset for them to not win out as they should be favored in the rest of their games. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 15-7, 5-5 T-4th Pac 12. 2/5/26 vs. #24 Gonzaga (W 86-84). 2/7/26 vs. Washington (W 95-62). A good week for the Bruins who get back to .500 in conference play with a buzzer beating win over Gonzaga then a smash of Washington. They need to keep the momentum going now. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 12-9, 4-6 T-8th Pac 12. 2/5/26 vs. Oregon (L 92-64). 2/7/26 at Arizona State (L 76-59). 2 more bad losses for the Cougars, as they were more competitive against Arizona than they were either of these teams. With a tough 3 game stretch coming up, their streak of missing the postseason looks likely to continue unless they can pull some upsets in their next few games. #10 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 18-4, 8-2 T-1st SEC. 2/4/26 vs. Texas A&M (L 73-62). 2/7/26 vs. Ole Miss (W 94-86). Another split for the Crimson Tide, who have now lost to 2 of the other 3 teams involved in a 4 way tie for first place in the conference. It's pretty simple, they'll need to keep winning to hold their spot. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 9-13, 7-4 3rd SWAC. 2/2/26 at Alabama A&M (L 82-74). 2/7/26 at Alabama State (W 44-42). Yet another split for the Golden Lions, who remain 1 game behind in the conference race. Coach Gunn has got to get this team to find some consistency, because quite frankly, they should be dominating this conference right now. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 14-7, 10-4 2nd Sun Belt. 2/5/26 at #25 UT Arlington (W 85-66). 2/7/26 at Northern Kentucky (W 96-93). 2 wins on the road for the Trojans, including a dominating win over the conference leaders. Coach Gale has this team playing great ball right now, we'll see if they can keep it up. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 11-12, 4-8 10th (last) WCC. 2/5/26 at Kennesaw State (L 68-65). 2/7/26 vs. BYU (L 94-75). 1 step forward and 2 steps back for the Toreros, who lose a pair this week. Both were ugly as they lost a non-conference game they probably shouldn't have lost, then got hammered by the conference leaders. Here's a look at the national top 25 as we head into the week of Feb. 9-15: Code:
Northwestern moves up 4 spots after their big top ten win, while St. John's and Alabama each move down a spot after splits. Stanford suffers their first conference loss and moves down a spot, while Fairfield stays put at #20. UCLA is also back to receiving votes after getting back to .500 in conference play. Now a look at the mid-major top 25 heading into the week of Feb. 9-15: Code:
Huge jumps by both Fairfield and FIU after 2-0 weeks, as Fairfield jumps up 7 spots and FIU jumps up 8 spots. Wagner and Sacramento State also receive more votes. Now a look at this weeks Bubble Watch. We start with the Overall Bubble Watch, in which 2 of our teams are featured. Code:
FIU just needs to continue to win, as if they suffer too many more losses, their SOS won't be enough to keep them in. Good to see a Troy sighting. Their SOS is quite a bit better than FIU, but they also can't afford too many more losses, especially being a mid-major team. Now for the rest of the Bubble Watch: Locks: St. John's, Northwestern, Fairfield, Stanford, UCLA, Alabama, The biggest change is UCLA going from being on the Bubble projected in, to now being a lock. Hard to imagine a team that is 5-5 in conference as a lock, but welcome to the power conference privileges (For the record I hate it in real life too, more love for the non-power conference teams!). Also, Troy has entered the bubble, now projected in. Finally, Fairfield has gone from being projected In to being a lock. All positive changes that I hope continues not only this season, but this entire dynasty. |

Feb. 9-15, 2026
37 games on the docket this week, and 1 feature games. Let's go to the Pac 12. 2/14/26- UCLA (Tim Shepard) @ Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- A tight one, as UCLA controlled the first half. Washington State rallied back, but ran out of gas, falling short. Final Score: UCLA- 75, Washington State- 72 UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 9-15, 4-9 T-10th (last) American. 2/11/26 vs. Temple (W 65-59). 2/14/26 at South Florida (L 64-41). Another split for the Huskies, who continue to stay in a tie for the cellar spot in the AAC. At this point, a 12 or 13 win season is about all Coach Childress can really expect I think. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 11-13, 6-7 T-6th ACC. 2/11/26 vs. Duke (W 81-73). 2/14/26 at Virginia Tech (W 79-77). A great week for the Fighting Irish who get 2 solid wins, and much needed wins. While they still have a long way to go, they are starting to show a little bit of promise. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 12-14, 6-4 T-3rd Atlantic Sun. 2/12/26 at USC Upstate (L 79-71). 2/14/26 at UL Monroe (W 73-71). Another split for the Ospreys, who aren't gaining any ground in their quest for a conference title. Splits just won't cut it. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 9-15, 0-12 10th (last) Big 12. 2/9/26 at Kansas State (L 64-51). 2/14/26 at #3 Baylor (L 96-78). 2 more losses for the Horned Frogs, and they probably won't have any better luck in any of their remaining conference games. At this point, I'm almost rooting for an 0-fer for Coach Mighty so maybe he'll get fired and have other job offers. #10 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 21-4, 11-2 1st Big East. 2/11/26 vs. Seton Hall (W 89-74). 2/14/26 vs. Xavier (W 93-75). 2 easy wins for the Red Storm, who shook off that loss at Georgetown. A tough one next week though, another top 25 matchup. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 17-6, 9-3 1st Big Sky. 2/12/26 at Eastern Washington (L 48-47). 2/14/26 vs. Idaho State (W 67-45). A split for the Hornets, and a tough loss to a bottom feeder in the conference. They are still on top, but can't afford anymore slip-ups. #9 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 20-4, 9-3 T-2nd Big Ten. 2/11/26 vs. Ohio State (W 75-56). 2/14/26 at #25 Michigan State (W 85-75). Another good week for the Wildcats, who are 20 game winners for only the 3rd time since this dynasty started. Big win to stay in the conference race as well. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 17-5, 11-1 2nd Conference USA. 2/12/26 at Western Kentucky (W 77-51). 2/14/26 vs. Charlotte (W 87-56). 2 dominating victories for the Golden Panthers this week, and Coach Hawkins has this team on the right track again. They are still in the hunt for a C-USA title, but have a few more tough games to get through. #20 Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 21-4, 13-4 1st MAAC. 2/13/26 vs. Canisius (W 69-61). 2/15/26 vs. Iona (L 76-73). A split for the Stags, who see their 10 game winning streak end with an upset loss to Iona. With 4 conference games left, they can't falter now. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 10-15, 6-7 7th Mountain West. 2/11/26 vs. Air Force (W 64-61). 2/14/26 at UNLV (L 85-67). A split for the Spartans, who just can't get over the hump and get over .500 in conference play. They are still exceeding expectations though. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 19-6, 12-2 1st Northeast. 2/12/26 vs. Robert Morris (W 87-85). 2/14/26 vs. Mt. St. Mary's (W 77-64). 2 more wins for the Seahawks who are getting closer to a conference title, but have to be wary of an upset. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 10-14, 7-5 T-3rd Pac 12. 2/12/26 vs. Washington (W 77-59). 2/14/26 vs. #4 Arizona (L 75-67). A split for the Buffaloes, who crazily are still in competition for a conference title, although it would be really tough. They have the ability to string off a few wins in a row, but I think Coach Nielsen's goal now is just to finish over .500 in conference and hope for the best. #18 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 19-5, 11-1 1st Pac 12. 2/12/26 vs. Oregon (W 82-60). 2/14/26 at Gonzaga (W 63-61). 2 more wins for the Cardinal, but again, they had to rally from a double digit halftime lead. This is not something they want to get in the habit of doing come tournament time. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 17-7, 7-5 T-3rd Pac 12. 2/12/26 vs. Arizona State (W 77-57). 2/14/26 at Washington State- feature game, highlighted above. 2 more wins for the Bruins, who have now won 4 in a row. Unfortunately they still have rematches with the top 2 conference teams, both who beat them by double digits the first time. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 12-11, 4-8 T-10th Pac 12. 2/12/26 at Oregon State (L 67-60). 2/14/26 vs. UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. The Cougars are collapsing, as they tend to do in conference play. It won't get any easier next week as they host Arizona and Stanford. #11 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 20-4, 10-2 T-1st SEC. 2/11/26 at Georgia (W 87-64). 2/14/26 at Tennessee (W 72-60). 2 more wins for the Crimson Tide, who are still in a 3 way tie for 1st place. That just means they need to keep winning. Next week is a big week as they host one of the other conference leaders. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 10-14, 8-5 3rd SWAC. 2/9/26 vs. Alcorn State (L 88-81). 2/14/26 vs. Southern (W 87-76). Another split for the Golden Lions, as Coach Gunn continues to be frustrated with his teams inconsistency. On a side note, Coach Gunn will at least be happy to hear that his former team has imploded in conference play and while they have a winning overall record, are next to last in the Big West. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 14-9, 10-5 3rd Sun Belt. 2/9/26 vs. Southern Illinois (L 72-69). 2/12/26 vs. UT Arlington (L 84-72). 2 more losses for the Trojans, and now isn't the time to collapse. Fortunately the schedule is promising the rest of the way, but we know how prone teams are to upsets. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 12-13, 5-9 T-10th (last) WCC. 2/12/26 at Pacific (W 73-66). 2/14/26 at St. Mary's (L 75-71). Another split for the Toreros, another team that can't find any consistency. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Feb. 16-22: Code:
St. John's moves up 3 spots and Alabama moves up 2 spots, while Northwestern moves down 3 spots after a split. Stanford moves up 3 more spots, and Fairfield moves down 3 spots after their split this week. FIU and UCLA are also both receiving votes. Now a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Feb. 16-22: Code:
A logjam at the top with the top 3 teams all receiving 22 FPV. Interesting. Fairfield moves down 2 spots in this poll as well, while FIU moves up 3 spots. Wagner is in the mid-major top 25 finally, and Sacramento State still receives a few votes. Now a look at the Overall Bubble Watch in which none of our teams are in this week: Code:
Here's a look at the Bubble Watch for the FOFC Coached Teams: Locks: St. John's, Northwestern, Stanford, UCLA, Alabama In: FIU, Fairfield Fairfield moves from a lock to just projected In at the moment, thanks to their split this week. Troy, who was on the bubble and projected in last week, is off the bubble, but projected out after their split this week. FIU on the other hand, is also off the bubble, and are still projected safely in for the moment. |

Feb. 16-22, 2026
35 games on the schedule, with 2 of them feature games, both in the Pac 12. Let's get to it: 2/19/26- UCLA (Tim Shepard) @ Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- Although UCLA shot better overall, the Buffaloes made 12 three pointers, and that was the difference as they got a big home victory. Final Score: Colorado- 74, UCLA- 62 2/21/26- #15 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) @ Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- Not much to talk about here, as Stanford showed why they are one of the best in the Pac 12 this season, holding Washington State to just 35.3% shooting in an easy road victory. Final Score: #15 Stanford- 71, Washington State- 53 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 11-15, 6-9 T-8th American. 2/18/26 vs. SMU (W 86-77). 2/21/26 at Tulsa (W 97-88). Looks like the Huskies aren't done yet, as they get 2 wins this week. They could still finish .500 in conference, but they'd have to win out. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 13-13, 7-7 T-6th ACC. 2/18/26 at Indiana State (W 71-62). 2/21/26 vs. Pittsburgh (W 95-84). The Fighting Irish are hitting a groove, winners of 4 in a row, and they are in a good position to finish over .500. A far cry from what their season expectation was, but still they are finishing strong so far. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 13-15, 7-5 4th Atlantic Sun. 2/19/26 vs. NJIT (W 68-46). 2/21/26 vs. Lipscomb (L 68-60). Yet another split for the Ospreys, who must win 2 games on the road next week, their final 2 conference games, to have a chance to win the conference title. It won't be easy. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 11-15, 2-12 10th (last) Big 12. 2/16/26 vs. #21 Oklahoma State (W 75-72). 2/21/26 vs. Texas (W 80-71). There will not be an 0-fer in the Big 12 this season, as the Horned Frogs came out of nowhere to get 2 home victories, including one over a ranked team. They will probably still finish last in the Big 12, but at least they won a conference game. #7 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 23-4, 13-2 1st Big East. 2/18/26 at #16 Providence (W 72-64). 2/21/26 at DePaul (W 81-61). 2 more wins for the Red Storm, who continue to roll. They control their own destiny for the Big East regular season title. All they have to do is win 1 of their last 3 conference games and they'll clinch at least a share of the title. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 17-8, 9-5 T-1st Big Sky. 2/19/26 vs. Weber State (L 78-51). 2/21/26 vs. North Dakota (L 82-63). The Hornets forgot to show up this week, as they were blasted in their 2 games and now are in a 3 way tie for first place. They will have to pick it up, as they've still got some tough games coming up. #12 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 22-4, 11-3 T-1st Big Ten. 2/18/26 vs. Penn State (W 80-74). 2/21/26 at #20 Indiana (W 88-86, OT). It wasn't easy, but the Wildcats stayed in the thick of the conference race by winning 2 more games this week. They are in a three way tie for first place and have won 7 in a row. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 18-6, 12-2 2nd Conference USA. 2/19/26 at Middle Tennessee (W 74-65). 2/21/26 at Marshall (L 71-69). Tough split for the Golden Panthers this week as they drop a game to Marshall, ending a 10 game winning streak. They'll have a chance at the conference leaders next week and will have to come to play. #23 Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 21-6, 13-6 T-2nd MAAC. 2/20/26 at St. Peter's (L 75-74, OT). 2/22/26 at Iona (L 68-61). 2 more losses for the Stags, who have lost 3 in a row. With 1 conference game left, they have to win and have the conference leaders lose to share a conference title. The worst they can do is 3rd place, but still they want to win. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 11-16, 7-8 7th Mountain West. 2/18/26 vs. Wyoming (W 77-71). 2/21/26 at Utah State (L 71-66). Another split for the Spartans, who are so close to .500 in the conference, but just can't quite get there. 3 more conference games to go, they'll have to win 2 of 3 to ensure .500 in Mountain West play. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 20-7, 13-3 1st Northeast. 2/19/26 at Fairleigh Dickinson (W 75-42). 2/21/26 at Central Connecticut (L 82-70). A split for the Seahawks, who with 2 Northeast games left have already clinched a share of the conference title. 1 win next week will clinch it outright. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 11-15, 8-6 T-3rd Pac 12. 2/19/26 vs. UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. 2/21/26 at Arizona State (L 72-63). A split for the Buffaloes, who continue to struggle to get over the hump. A solid win, then a bad loss. #15 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 21-5, 13-1 1st Pac 12. 2/19/26 vs. Oregon State (W 88-61). 2/21/26 at Washington State- feature game, highlighted above. The Cardinal continue to roll with 2 more victories. All they have to do is keep winning and the Pac 12 title is theirs. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 17-9, 7-7 T-5th Pac 12. 2/19/26 at Colorado- feature game, highlighted above. 2/21/26 at #4 Arizona (L 60-40). Bad week for the Bruins who lose both games and fall back to .500 in the conference. They have certainly had their struggles this season. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 12-13, 4-10 T-10th Pac 12. 2/19/26 vs. #4 Arizona (L 73-62). 2/21/26 vs. #15 Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. 2 more losses for the Cougars, that's 7 in a row. At this point, they'll have to win the Pac 12 tournament to end their postseason drought. #9 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 20-6, 10-4 T-4th SEC. 2/18/26 vs. Missouri (L 78-73). 2/21/26 vs. LSU (L 78-77). 2 heartbreaking losses for the Crimson Tide who are now in a 2 way tie for 4th place for the conference title. They can recover though, still 4 games left. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 11-14, 9-5 3rd SWAC. 2/21/26 vs. Mississippi Valley State (W 77-74). Just 1 game this week for the Golden Lions, and it was a hard fought victory. Still 4 more games to go, and they are still in the hunt for the conference title, but they have to find some consistency. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 16-9, 11-5 3rd Sun Belt. 2/16/26 at Albany (W 96-75). 2/19/26 at South Slabama (W 72-61). 2 more wins for the Trojans who get back on track as they are into the really easy part of their schedule to finish it off. Still a chance they could win or share a conference title, but they'd have to win out. It's doable as long as they take care of business. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 13-14, 6-10 T-8th WCC. 2/19/26 vs. Loyola Marymount (W 79-61). 2/21/26 vs. Pepperdine (L 69-57). A split for the Toreros, who also can't get over the hump. They need to continue to win to avoid the cellar. They have 3 games left, 2 of them in conference. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Feb. 23-Mar. 1: Code:
St. John's stays put at #7, while Northwestern moves up 2 spots after their big week, Stanford moves up 1 spot, and Alabama drops 6 spots after a 2 loss week. Fairfield drops out of the top 25 but is still receiving votes. FIU is still receiving votes, but UCLA loses their votes. Now a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Feb. 23-Mar. 1: Code:
FIU rises 1 spot despite a split, while Fairfield drops 14 spots after a 2 loss week. Sacramento State also loses all their votes after a 2 loss week while Wagner keeps a few votes. Now a look at the Overall Bubble Watch, which sees 2 of our teams in it: Code:
Troy is in a good spot. They have an easy schedule the rest of the way. If they win out they'll have won 20 games going into the Sun Belt Tournament. The only thing that'll keep them out is a couple losses, IMO. Fairfield on the other hand, needs to right the ship. They've lost 3 in a row, and their SOS is one of the worst in the NCAA. If they have anymore losses at all during the regular season, it'll probably be up to them to win the MAAC tournament to get into the NCAAs. Now a look at the other teams and where they stand: Locks: St. John's, Northwestern, FIU, Stanford, UCLA, Alabama So FIU moves from being just In to being a Lock. Seems a bit odd considering they split this week. Troy went from being out to being on the bubble projected in. Fairfield was projected in last week, now they are on the bubble, projected out. |

Feb. 23-Mar. 1, 2026
36 games on the schedule this week, with 1 feature game, in the Pac 12. Let's start there: 2/28/26- #14 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) @ UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- Awful shooting for Stanford in this one, as they shot just 27.5%, and made more free throws than they did field goals. The Bruins got a big home win. Final Score: UCLA- 71, #14 Stanford- 51 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 12-16, 7-10 8th American. 2/25/26 vs. ECU (L 79-75, OT). 2/28/26 at Houston (W 78-64). Another split for the Huskies, and that OT loss to ECU hurts as they'll miss a chance to finish .500 in the conference with 1 game left. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 14-14, 8-8 T-5th ACC. 2/25/26 at #5 Syracuse (L 85-68). 2/28/26 vs. Boston College (W 65-52). Another split for the Fighting Irish as they continue to toe the line of finishing over .500. There is a huge separation between the top 4 teams in the ACC and the rest of the ACC, so depending on how they finish in their final 2 regular season games, the Irish could finish anywhere between 5th and 11th in the conference. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 13-17, 7-7 T-4th Atlantic Sun. 2/26/26 at Stetson (L 90-70). 2/28/26 at Jacksonville (L 73-59). 2 more losses for the Ospreys who finish the regular season on a 3 game losing streak. They'll go into the Atlantic Sun Tournament as the 5th seed, and will take on the same Jacksonville team that just beat them. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 12-16, 3-13 10th (last) Big 12. 2/23/26 at #13 Oklahoma (L 76-69). 2/28/26 at Kansas (W 75-67). A split for the Horned Frogs, and don't look now, but if TCU can win both their games next week, they could jump out of the cellar. They've got a chance, and they are playing better ball right now. #7 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 25-4, 15-2 1st Big East. 2/25/26 vs. Butler (W 85-57). 2/28/26 vs. #11 Villanova (W 64-37). 2 more wins for the Red Storm including an impressive victory over Villanova in which they held them to 10 first half points and 28.8% shooting. The Red Storm have clinched the regular season Big East Title and are now playing for a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 18-9, 10-6 T-2nd Big Sky. 2/26/26 vs. Southern Idaho (L 65-62). 2/28/26 vs. Idaho (W 61-54). A tough split for the Hornets, who do break a 3 game losing streak but have fallen out of a first place tie. They have the new conference leaders next week in a very, very important game. #10 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 23-5, 12-4 T-2nd Big Ten. 2/25/26 at Rutgers (W 81-53). 2/28/26 at #8 Wisconsin (L 104-79). A road split for the Wildcats, both blowouts, and they are now in a three way tie for 2nd place. They should win both their games next week if they play to their abilities, and would need Wisconsin to lose at least 1 to share a title. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 20-6, 14-2 1st Conference USA. 2/26/26 at Florida Atlantic (W 81-78). 2/28/26 vs. UTEP (W 87-78). Big week for the Golden Panthers who get a big win over the conference leaders and have taken over the position. They have 2 more games next week, and both are big. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 22-6, 14-6 T-1st MAAC. 2/27/26 vs. Manhattan (W 68-62). An important win for the Stags, who break a 3 game losing streak with the win and split the MAAC regular season title 3 ways. Because of tiebreakers they will be #1 seed in the MAAC Tournament and will take on the winner of the game between 9th seed Iona and 8th seed Monmouth. But first, they have 1 more non-conference game next week. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 11-18, 7-10 7th Mountain West. 2/25/26 vs. Fresno State (L 91-80). 2/28/26 at Nevada (L 78-61). 2 more losses for the Spartans who have now lost 3 in a row and 4 of their last 5. They've got 1 more conference game next week, but it won't be an easy one. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 22-7, 15-3 1st Northeast. 2/26/26 vs. Sacred Heart (W 64-63). 2/28/26 vs. St. Francis (PA) (W 86-67). 2 more wins for the Seahawks, who win the Northeast regular season title by 2 games. They've clinched at least a spot in the NIT, but they want more. They'll obviously be the #1 seed in the Northeast Tournament, and their first opponent will be 8th seed St. Francis (PA). Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 13-15, 10-6 T-3rd Pac 12. 2/26/26 at Gonzaga (W 91-84). 2/28/26 at Oregon (W 78-70). 2 wins for the Buffaloes who get off their snide and can still finish .500 overall. They'll finish between 3rd and 6th in the conference, but even then it may not be enough to keep Coach Nielsen's job. #14 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 22-6, 14-2 1st Pac 12. 2/26/26 vs. Utah (W 89-67). 2/28/26 at UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. A split for the Cardinal, who still control their own destiny in the conference. 1 win next week will clinch at least a share of the Pac 12 regular season title. Winning both will clinch the title outright. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 19-9, 9-7 5th Pac 12. 2/26/26 at Oregon (W 78-67). 2/28/26 vs. #14 Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. 2 big wins for the Bruins, who could and should win 20 games this season. The best they can hope for in the conference is 3rd, but that would be remarkable considering how they started the conference this season. However, losing both games next week would drop them to 7th. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 12-15, 4-12 T-11th (last) Pac 12. 2/26/26 vs. Washington (L 77-75). 2/28/26 vs. Utah (L 74-65). 2 more losses for the Cougars, who go winless in February. They've got to win at least 1 game next week or they'll most likely be looking at the cellar, again. #15 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 20-8, 10-6 T-5th SEC. 2/25/26 at Arkansas (L 87-75). 2/28/26 at South Carolina (L 63-56). The Crimson Tide are collapsing at the wrong time, losers of 4 in a row. Any hopes of an SEC regular season title are over. They could still finish in the top 4 and earn a double bye in the SEC Tournament, but they have to right the ship and win both next week. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 13-14, 11-5 3rd SWAC. 2/23/26 at Prairie View A&M (W 79-58). 2/28/26 at Texas Southern (W 76-67). 2 very important wins for the Golden Lions who are now just 1 game behind the conference leaders. They are facing a pair of 8-19 teams next week, both who they have already blown out once, both at home. Should be in good position to win both and still have a chance at a SWAC Title. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 18-9, 13-5 T-2nd Sun Belt. 2/26/26 vs. Texas State (W 77-53). 2/28/26 vs. Appalachian State (W 97-91). 2 more wins for the Trojans who have put themselves in position for a 20 win season. They need to win both next week to have a chance at the Sun Belt regular season title. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 15-14, 8-10 T-6th WCC. 2/26/26 at Santa Clara (W 93-72). 2/28/26 at San Francisco (W 85-65). 2 wins for the Toreros who get over .500 for the first time since late January. They'll be the 6th seed in the WCC Tournament and will open up against 3rd seed USC, but first a tough non-conference game next week against Indiana State. Win that and they'll at least assure themselves of a winning record this season, still a far cry from where they've been the last 2 seasons though. Here's a look at the national top 25 going into the week of Mar. 2-8: Code:
St. John's moves up 1 spot while Northwestern and Stanford stay in their spots after their splits. Alabama moves down 4 spots, while FIU jumps into the top 25. Fairfield keeps receiving votes, and UCLA is now getting votes. Now a look at the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Mar. 2-8: Code:
FIU moves up 5 spots with their big week, while Fairfield moves up 3 spots. Wagner gets a little closer to the mid-major top 25. Now we get to the Overall Bubble Watch, and that sees none of our teams in it: Code:
Now for the FOFC Teams: Locks: St. John's, Northwestern, FIU, Stanford, UCLA, Alabama Troy and Fairfield, who were both on the bubble last week, are both projected out this week. That's no doubt due to their SOS, which both went down this week. No other changes. Last edited by collegesportsfanms : 11-06-2018 at 09:36 PM. |

34 games on the schedule this week, and 1 feature game. Let's get right to that: 3/7/26- Washington State (DeShawn St. John) @ Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- Colorado was hot in this one, shooting over 50% for the game. They also made 10 three pointers and led by 20 at halftime as they rolled to victory. Final Score: Colorado- 72, Washington State- 51 Now to the rest of the weekly recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 13-16, 8-10 T-6th American. 3/7/26 vs. Cincinnati (W 76-68). Just 1 game for the Huskies, as they finish off the regular season on a winning note. They finished in a 3 way tie for 6th, and lost all the tiebreakers. They'll be the 8th seed in the American Tournament and will start off against 9th seed Tulane. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 14-16, 8-10 T-7th ACC. 3/4/26 at Clemson (L 69-68). 3/7/26 vs. N.C. State (L 92-68). At least the Fighting Irish were consistent, as they scored 68 points in each of their losses this week. They lose a tiebreaker for 7th place and will be the 8th seed in the ACC Tournament, opening up against 9th seed N.C. State, a team that just hammered them. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 15-18, 7-7 Atlantic Sun. 3/3/26- Atlantic Sun Quarterfinal vs. (4) Jacksonville (W 69-67). 3/5/26- Atlantic Sun Semifinal vs. (1) Kennesaw State (W 83-75). 3/8/26- Atlantic Sun Championship vs. (3) USC Upstate (L 63-61). Good run for the Ospreys in the Atlantic Sun Tournament and a heartbreaking loss in the championship game. Had they won that, they'd have almost certainly been playing in the NCAA First Four. As it stands, they'll end their season with a 15-18 record. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 12-18, 3-15 10th (last) Big 12. 3/2/26 vs. West Virginia (L 72-62). 3/7/26 vs. Texas Tech (L 99-96). The Horned Frogs lose 2 more. They can take a little bit of solace in knowing they won 50% of their last 6 conference games this season, but still get the dreaded cellar in the conference. They'll of course be the 10th seed in the Big 12 Tournament and open up against 7th seed Iowa State. #6 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 26-4, 16-2 1st Big East. 3/7/26 at Marquette (W 91-56). 1 game for the Red Storm to end the regular season, a dominating win. They win the Big East regular season title again, and will be the top seed in the Big East Tournament. They'll open up against either 9th seed Marquette or 8th seed Butler. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 19-10, 11-7 T-2nd Big Sky. 3/5/26 at Montana State (W 62-56). 3/7/26 at Northern Arizona (L 72-54). A split for the Hornets, who weren't competitive against the Big Sky winners. They'll finish in a 4 way tie for 2nd, and get the 4th seed in the Big Sky Tournament. They'll get a bye into the Quarterfinals and face either 12th seed Northern Colorado or 5th seed Weber State. #10 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 23-7, 12-6 T-3rd Big Ten. 3/4/26 vs. Maryland (L 81-69). 3/7/26 at Michigan (L 62-61). Tough week for the Wildcats who suffer 2 bad losses to sub-.500 teams. Not the way they wanted to finish out what has been an otherwise strong season. They lose the tiebreaker for 3rd place and will be the 4th seed in the Big Ten Tournament. They'll get a double bye into the Quarterfinals and will take on either 13th seed Michigan State, 12th seed Nebraska, or 5th seed Indiana. #24 FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 22-6, 16-2 1st Conference USA. 3/5/26 vs. Southern Miss (W 89-81). 3/7/26 vs. George Mason (W 69-43). 2 more wins for the Golden Panthers, who finish off the regular season winning 14 of their last 15. They win the Conference USA regular season title and will be the top seed in the C-USA Tournament. They'll get a bye into the Quarterfinals and will open up against either 9th seed Western Kentucky or 8th seed Old Dominion. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 23-7, 14-6 MAAC. 3/2/26 vs. Samford (W 69-68). 3/7/26- MAAC Quarterfinal vs. (9) Iona (L 73-69). The Stags take the upset loss in the MAAC Quarterfinals, but they'll play more basketball. It's hard to believe their RPI will get them an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Since they split the MAAC title 3 ways, I'm not sure if their RPI will even get them an NIT bid. More than likely they'll be CBI bound. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 11-19, 7-11 7th Mountain West. 3/7/26 vs. San Diego State (L 71-61). The Spartans end the regular season on a 4 game losing streak and losers of 5 of their last 6. Still though, they exceeded expectations, but not nearly as much as last season. They'll be the 7th seed in the Mountain West Tournament and will open up against 10th seed Air Force. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 24-7, 15-3 Northeast. 3/4/26- Northeast Quarterfinal vs. (8) St. Francis (PA) (W 64-58). 3/7/26- Northeast Semifinal vs. (6) Fairleigh Dickinson (W 64-50). The Seahawks win their first 2 Northeast Tournament games (remember, the semifinals are reseeded with the highest remaining seed taking on the lowest remaining seed, which is why Wagner played the #6 seed in the semifinal instead of the #4 or #5 seed). They'll now advance to the Northeast Championship where a win will put them in the big dance, a loss will put them in the NIT. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 15-15, 12-6 3rd Pac 12. 3/5/26 at Utah (W 75-58). 3/7/26 vs. Washington State- feature game, highlighted above. A couple dominating performances to end the regular season for the Buffaloes, as they get back to .500. 3rd place in the Pac 12 could be enough for Coach Nielsen to keep his job, but that overall record leaves a lot to be desired. They'll be the 3rd seed in the Pac 12 Tournament and get a bye into the Quarterfinals where they will take on either 11th seed Washington State or 6th seed Gonzaga. #14 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 23-7, 15-3 T-1st Pac 12. 3/5/26 at Washington (L 76-74). 3/7/26 vs. California (W 80-56). A split for the Cardinal, who fell 2 points short of winning the regular season conference title outright. Nevertheless, they'll split it with Arizona. They lost the tiebreaker for the 1 seed and will be the 2nd seed in the Pac 12 Tournament. They'll get a bye into the Quarterfinals and will open up against either 10th seed Arizona State or 7th seed Utah. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 20-10, 10-8 5th Pac 12. 3/5/26 at California (L 97-89). 3/7/26 vs. Utah (W 93-36). A split for the Bruins, who blew a 14 point halftime lead at Cal. They made sure that wasn't happening against Utah in a dominating performance. They'll be the 5th seed in the Pac 12 Tournament and open up against 12th seed Oregon State. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 13-16, 5-13 T-11th (T-last) Pac 12. 3/5/26 at Gonzaga (W 81-72). 3/7/26 at Colorado- feature game, highlighted above. A split for the Cougars, who break a 9 game losing streak with the win at Gonzaga. They win the tiebreaker for 11th place and will be the 11th seed in the Pac 12 Tournament, opening up against 6th seed Gonzaga. #19 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 22-8, 12-6 T-3rd SEC. 3/4/26 at VCU (W 86-60). 3/7/26 vs. Kentucky (W 73-50). 2 dominating performances by the Crimson Tide to break a 4 game losing streak. They finished in a 3 way tie for 3rd and tiebreakers put them right in the middle. They'll be the 4th seed in the SEC Tournament, getting a double bye into the Quarterfinals where they will open up against either 13th seed Georgia, 12th seed South Carolina, or 5th seed Texas A&M. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 15-14, 13-5 T-2nd SWAC. 3/2/26 vs. Grambling State (W 83-70). 3/7/26 vs. Jackson State (W 72-48). 2 more wins for the Golden Lions who finish the regular season on a 6 game winning streak, winners of 7 of their last 8. That tough non-conference schedule did exactly what Coach Gunn wanted, but they know it is still win the SWAC Tournament or nothing. Speaking of the SWAC Tournament, they lost the tiebreaker for the 2 seed and will be the 3rd seed, opening up against 6th seed Southern. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 20-9, 15-5 T-1st Sun Belt. 3/5/26 vs. Georgia Southern (W 93-72). 3/7/26 at Texas State (W 88-64). The Trojans take care of business this week with 2 solid wins. This slides them up and gives them a split of the Sun Belt regular season title. They win the tiebreaker, and will be the top seed in the Sun Belt Tournament. They'll get a double bye into the Semifinals and open up against either 8th seed Florida Gulf Coast, 5th seed Georgia Southern, or 4th seed Northern Kentucky. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 16-15, 8-10 WCC. 3/2/26 vs. Indiana State (W 85-83). 3/7/26- WCC Quarterfinal vs. (3) USC (L 85-81). The Toreros get a good non-conference win before WCC Tourney play. Unfortunately, they couldn't quite get past USC, and miss a golden opportunity as the 10 seed upset the 2 seed in the Quarterfinals. With an RPI of 123, Coach Shocker is fully expecting his team to be left out of the postseason tournaments, and will reflect back on what went wrong in his first season here. Here's a look at the national top 25 as we move into the week of Mar. 9-15, the bulk of the conference championship week: Code:
Despite winning their lone game last week, St. John's falls 1 spot. Northwestern only drops 3 spots despite losing 2 games this week, while Stanford stays put at 14. Alabama has a 2 win week and moves up 4 spots, while FIU moves up a spot. Fairfield retains a couple votes, and Wagner receives a couple, while UCLA loses all their votes. Now for the mid-major top 25 going into the week of Mar. 9-15: Code:
FIU moves up a spot and receives some FPV, as they are rolling. With their upset loss, Fairfield moves down 5 spots. Wagner is right on the cusp of breaking into the mid-major top 25, a win in their conference championship game would put them there. And Troy receives some votes for the first time, maybe all season. At least for a while. A look at the last edition of the Bubble Watch, starting with the Overall Bubble Watch, where none of our teams our represented: Code:
Here's a look at where our 19 teams fare in the last edition. Remember, this only includes the NCAA Tournament, not the other postseason tournaments, and if a team isn't listed as a lock or in, that means they are projected out. Locks: St. John's, Northwestern, FIU, Stanford, UCLA, Alabama No changes from last week. |

Unlike my player dynasty that a lot of you are a part of, to keep differences between the 2 dynasties, I am going to go ahead and highlight the feature games before I do the main post. We have 2 of them in the conference tournaments, and both came in the Pac 12 Tournament. 3/13/26- Pac 12 Semifinal - (3) Colorado (Rob Nielsen) vs. (2) #14 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- The Buffs fought hard in this one, holding an 8 point halftime lead and shooting 54.2%. The problem came at the line where they shot below 70%, while Stanford shot almost 80%. This led Stanford to a tight win, advancing them to the Pac 12 Championship. Final Score: (2) #14 Stanford- 86, (3) Colorado- 83 3/14/26- Pac 12 Championship - (5) UCLA (Tim Shepard) vs. (2) #14 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- The Cardinal had an easier time in this one, leading by 18 at halftime and never looking back as they win the Pac 12 Tournament Title game with relative ease. Final Score: (2) #14 Stanford- 89, (5) UCLA- 70 Now to the rest of the conference tournament recap: UConn (Randolph Childress) -- 13-17, 8-10 American. 3/12/26- American First Round vs. (9) Tulane (L 65-49). The Huskies end their season with a whimper as they weren't at all competitive against Tulane. This probably will also end the tenure for Coach Childress as UConn's head coach. Notre Dame (Al Mighty) -- 14-17, 8-10 ACC. 3/11/26- ACC Second Round vs. (9) N.C. State (L 94-84). A pitiful tournament exit for yet another underachieving Fighting Irish team who sees their season end early. Although they improved over last season, Coach Mighty knows his leash might be much, much shorter next season. North Florida (Felix Abel) -- 15-18, 7-7 Atlantic Sun. The Ospreys played in the Atlantic Sun Tournament last week, losing in the Atlantic Sun championship game. Unfortunately it wasn't enough, as their season is over as well. TCU (Bee Mighty) -- 12-19, 3-15 Big 12. 3/11/26- Big 12 First Round vs. (7) Iowa State (L 73-45). The Horned Frogs finish up one of their worst Big 12 seasons in a long time. Although they improved by 1 win over last season overall, their conference record was the worst it has been in several years. Coach Mighty will need to find a way to get the players to recruit in the always tough Big 12, as their season is over. #7 St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 29-4, 16-2 Big East. 3/12/26- Big East Quarterfinal vs. (8) Butler (W 79-56). 3/13/26- Big East Semifinal vs. (4) Xavier (W 77-67). 3/14/26- Big East Championship vs. (2) #9 Villanova (W 73-69). The Red Storm win another Big East conference title, pulling a double this season, winning both the Big East regular season and conference tournament title. I find it hard to believe the selection committee could find 4 more deserving #1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament than St. John's. I'll be shocked if the Johnnies aren't a top seed in the Big Dance. Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 19-11, 11-7 Big Sky. 3/12/26- Big Sky Quarterfinal vs. (12) Northern Colorado (L 77-69). The Hornets picked a bad time to self destruct, getting upset in their first conference tournament game. Believe it or not, their RPI of 150 means they are going to have to sweat it out for any kind of postseason bid. I really believe 19 wins is going to be hard to overlook. I think they'll end up in the CIT. #13 Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 26-7, 12-6 Big Ten. 3/13/26- Big Ten Quarterfinal vs. (13) Michigan State (W 82-63). 3/14/26- Big Ten Semifinal vs. (1) #6 Wisconsin (W 89-84). 3/15/26- Big Ten Championship vs. (2) #10 Iowa (W 66-52). Hard to believe Coach Vee was on the hot seat going into the season. Well, you can forget about that hot seat now, as he coached like a man possessed this season, and the Wildcats played like a team possessed. They'll make their 2nd NCAA appearance under Coach Vee, and while they have the 2nd best RPI in the nation, they will probably not get a #1 seed. Anything less than a #3 seed though will be a disapppointment. #23 FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 25-6, 16-2 Conference USA. 3/12/26- Conference USA Quarterfinal vs. (8) Old Dominion (W 78-55). 3/13/26- Conference USA Semifinal vs. (5) Louisiana Tech (W 72-49). 3/14/26- Conference USA Championship vs. (3) #25 Middle Tennessee (W 89-67). Coach Hawkins is another coach who will see their seat cool off significantly in the offseason. The Golden Panthers made it look easy in the C-USA Tournament and punched their 4th ticket to the NCAA Tournament since this dynasty started. Going to be tough to project their seed. They had a few bad losses this season, so I'm going to say they'll be anywhere between a #5 and #7 seed. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 23-7, 14-6 MAAC. The Stags lost their first game of the MAAC Tournament last week, and are awaiting their postseason fate. They only lost 7 games on the season, so it's hard to think they'd get left out all together. I'm not sure if their RPI is good enough for the NIT, maybe the CBI. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 15-19, 7-11 Mountain West. 3/11/26- Mountain West First Round vs. (10) Air Force (W 99-80). 3/12/26- Mountain West Quarterfinal vs. (2) San Diego State (W 117-114, OT). 3/13/26- Mountain West Semifinal vs. (3) Utah State (W 74-65). 3/14/26- Mountain West Championship vs. (9) New Mexico (W 107-106, OT). The Spartans complete a cinderella run in the Mountain West Tournament to steal an at-large bid from a bubble team. Good for Coach Shepard, bad for the bubble teams. I'd almost guarantee their 2 OT games in this tournament were multiple OT games, unfortunately I have no way of telling for sure. With a 15-19 record, don't be surprised to see San Jose State playing in the First Four, or just a straight #16 seed. At best, a #15 seed. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 25-7, 15-3 Northeast. 3/10/26- Northeast Championship vs. (2) St. Francis (NY) (W 75-54). Congrats to the Seahawks who are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the history of this dynasty! Coach Brown has done wonders in his first season here. As far as their seed, their RPI isn't terrible. They could end up being a single digit seed, but I figure a #10 seed or so. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 16-16, 12-6 Pac 12. 3/12/26- Pac 12 Quarterfinal vs. (6) Gonzaga (W 76-72). 3/13/26- Pac 12 Semifinal vs. (2) #14 Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. Another .500 overall season for the Buffaloes, who I expect will miss out on the postseason again. The question is, will a 12-6 record and 3rd place finish in the Pac 12 be enough for Coach Nielsen to keep his job 1 more season? I say yes, despite the bad overall record. We'll see if I'm right. #14 Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 26-7, 15-3 Pac 12. 3/12/26- Pac 12 Quarterfinal vs. (10) Arizona State (W 82-75). 3/13/26- Pac 12 Semifinal vs. (3) Colorado- feature game, highlighted above. 3/14/26- Pac 12 Championship vs. (5) UCLA- feature game, highlighted above. Another Pac 12 Tournament Title for the Cardinal, who will be making their 7th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in this dynastys history. They won't be a #1 seed though, maybe not even a #2 seed. In fact, with their RPI, they could drop all the way to a #4 seed. Still, they are dancing for the 5th straight season. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 23-11, 10-8 Pac 12. 3/12/26- Pac 12 Quarterfinal vs. (4) California (W 96-91, OT). 3/13/26- Pac 12 Semifinal vs. (1) #3 Arizona (W 69-57). 3/14/26- Pac 12 Championship vs. (2) #14 Stanford- feature game, highlighted above. Nice run for the Bruins, who have struggled to compete at the level they were last year. The win over Arizona in the Pac 12 Semifinal was career win #300 for Coach Shepard. It should be celebrated with an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament, where UCLA will probably be one of those tough lower seeds, maybe a #8 or #9 seed. Washington State (DeShawn St. John) -- 13-17, 5-13 Pac 12. 3/11/26- Pac 12 First Round vs. (6) Gonzaga (L 68-66). The Cougars finish off their worst season in a while and will miss the postseason yet again. They are the only team that started this dynasty with an FOFC coach that has yet to make it to any postseason tournament. Yet, the board at Washington State continues to be satisfied. #15 Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 24-9, 12-6 SEC. 3/13/26- SEC Quarterfinal vs. (5) Texas A&M (W 70-67). 3/14/26- SEC Semifinal vs. (9) Tennessee (W 82-69). 3/15/26- SEC Championship vs. (3) Missouri (L 84-71). Tough break for the Crimson Tide who make an incredible run in the SEC Tournament. Losing in the SEC Championship all but assured them of a spot in the NCAA Tournament, which they probably would have had even if they'd lost in the Quarterfinals. Their RPI is good enough for a #2 or #3 seed, but they'll probably get a 4 or 5 seed. Arkansas Pine Bluff (B.B. Gunn) -- 16-15, 13-5 SWAC. 3/11/26- SWAC Quarterfinal vs. (6) Southern (W 75-68). 3/13/26- SWAC Semifinal vs. (2) Alabama State (L 71-67). Tough break for the Golden Lions who fall just short of the SWAC Championship game and will probably miss out on the postseason. Still though, give Coach Gunn credit for playing a very tough non-conference schedule. A few key pieces and they might win some of those tough non-conference games next season. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 21-10, 15-5 Sun Belt. 3/14/26- Sun Belt Semifinal vs. (5) Georgia Southern (W 80-54). 3/15/26- Sun Belt Championship vs. (2) UT Arlington (L 69-52). The Trojans just weren't competitive in the Sun Belt Championship game, and that will cost them a spot in the NCAA Tournament. As it stands, they've probably done enough to earn a spot in the NIT, but their RPI might drop them to the CBI. San Diego (Charlie Shocker) -- 16-15, 8-10 WCC. The Toreros lost in the WCC Quarterfinals last week and will most likely miss out on the postseason. No polls, as we'll move into the postseason in the next big post. I'm going to leave everyone in suspense for a few hours, and later tonight I will reveal the selection Sunday post so all of you that are sweating it out with your teams will have to sweat a few more hours. I know, I'm evil. |

2026 Selection Sunday
St. John's gets the #1 seed in the NCAA West Region and will open up against 16th seed Youngstown State. UCLA gets the 5th seed in the NCAA West Region and will open up against 12th seed Iowa State. FIU gets the 5th seed in the NCAA Midwest Region and will open up against 12th seed Green Bay. San Jose State gets the 15th seed in the NCAA Midwest Region and will open up against 2nd seed Wisconsin, looking to keep their Cinderella streak alive. Stanford gets the 3rd seed in the NCAA Midwest Region and will open up against a former conference foe in 14th seed USC (who now plays in the WCC, remember I have limited conference movement turned on). Alabama is back in the NCAA Tournament after a 1 year layoff, getting the 3rd seed in the NCAA South Region. They'll open up against 14th seed Marist. Wagner gets a bit disrespected in their first trip to the NCAA Tournament, as they get the 13th seed in the NCAA East Region. They'll open up against 4th seed Oklahoma State. Northwestern gets the 2nd seed in the NCAA East Region. They'll open up against 15th seed UMass Lowell. Troy gets the 4th seed in the NIT West Region and will open up by hosting 5th seed Fresno State. Fairfield gets the 5th seed in the NIT Midwest Region and will open up by travelling to 4th seed Eastern Illinois. Sacramento State gets the 8th seed in the NIT South Region and will open up by hosting 9th seed Lehigh, with the winner going to top seed Southern Miss. (Remember, I bumped the NIT back up to 40 teams in an effort to get more of our FOFC teams postseason play. 11 of our teams make the postseason this season, much better than last years effort. We have several contenders to win the NCAA Tournament. St. John's has the only NCAA Tournament Title of our FOFC coaches, but UCLA has been the bridesmaid twice. The postseason will be simmed probably on Monday. |

DeShawn St. John is getting lazy over on the Palouse. The Wazzu board needs to kick him in the pants!
Meanwhile, B.B. Gunn went for the challenge. Didn't work out for the postseason, but he's laid the foundation for a good program there in Pine Bluff. Maybe (ahem) some of the bigger programs will recognize what he has done there in just one year.

2026 Postseason
11 teams in the postseason and no feature games, so let's get to it: St. John's (Dean Hoo) -- 35-4, 16-2 Big East. 3/19/26- NCAA West Region First Round vs. (16) Youngstown State (W 82-62). 3/21/26- NCAA West Region Second Round vs. (8) Boise State (W 76-54). 3/26/26- NCAA West Region Semifinal vs. (4) Vanderbilt (W 77-70). 3/28/26- NCAA West Region Championship vs. (7) BYU (W 84-67). 4/4/26- NCAA National Semifinal vs. (4S) Oklahoma (W 84-71). 4/6/26- NCAA National Championship vs. (1MW) Baylor (W 80-55). Another season, another national title for Coach Hoo and the Red Storm! This makes #2, as he is quickly leaving his mark as the best FOFC coach so far. The sky is the limit, and now it's just a matter of whether he can keep it going and how many titles he will win! Sacramento State (David Ginsberg) -- 20-12, 11-7 Big Sky. 3/17/26- NIT South Region First Round vs. (9) Lehigh (W 50-49). 3/19/26- NIT South Region Quarterfinal at (1) Southern Miss (L 98-77). At least the Hornets got 1 postseason win, but they hoped for so much more. A good start, now they also need to build on it next season. Northwestern (Ess Vee) -- 26-8, 12-6 Big Ten. 3/20/26- NCAA East Region First Round vs. (15) UMass Lowell (L 58-46). This tournament was full of upsets, and unfortunately, the Wildcats were the victims of one of them. Had they won, they had a legit shot to make it to the Final Four themselves. As it stands, they'll ask themselves what might have been. Still a dream season for Coach Vee, and he should definitely be off the hot seat now. FIU (Brett Hawkins) -- 26-7, 16-2 Conference USA. 3/20/26- NCAA Midwest Region First Round vs. (12) Green Bay (W 59-45). 3/22/26- NCAA Midwest Region Second Round vs. (4) Missouri (L 70-61). Tough one for the Golden Panthers who had it all set up for a sweet sixteen run. However, a solid season and Coach Hawkins should be back to a regular seat after this season. Fairfield (Ariel Pryde) -- 25-8, 14-6 MAAC. 3/19/26- NIT Midwest Region Second Round vs. (4) Eastern Illinois (W 81-70). 3/21/26- NIT Midwest Region Semifinal at (8) Wright State (W 56-40). 3/26/26- NIT Midwest Region Championship vs. (2) California (L 78-72). Good run for the Stags, who gave Pac 12 team California all they could handle. They exceeded their goals this season and then some though. San Jose State (Thomas Shepard) -- 15-20, 7-11 Mountain West. 3/19/26- NCAA Midwest Region First Round vs. (2) Wisconsin (L 103-47). Ouch! Cinderella got a very rude awakening in this one. Northwestern knows how good Wisconsin is and it showed tonight. Kudos to the Spartans for playing the Cinderella card and winning the Mountain West Tournament, but gotta give a better effort when you get to go dancing. Wagner (Will Brown) -- 25-8, 15-3 Northeast. 3/19/26- NCAA East Region First Round vs. (4) Oklahoma State (L 77-69). Good effort for the Seahawks, but blowing a 5 point halftime lead will sit with them for a while. Fortunately, they are in a good place to get back to the tournament next season. Stanford (Benito Sanchez) -- 27-8, 15-3 Pac 12. 3/20/26- NCAA Midwest Region First Round vs. (14) USC (W 80-79). 3/22/26- NCAA Midwest Region Second Round vs. (6) Texas A&M (L 63-43). The Cardinal will not be happy about losing in the NCAA Second Round, as they are used to getting farther than that. Still, another good season and I expect nothing less next season. UCLA (Tim Shepard) -- 24-12, 10-8 Pac 12. 3/20/26- NCAA West Region First Round vs. (12) Iowa State (W 61-60). 3/22/26- NCAA West Region Second Round vs. (4) Vanderbilt (L 79-71). Not the best of seasons for the Bruins. They did win 24 games, but lost 12. Still, an NCAA Second Round run is respectable, but more is expected from this program. Alabama (Roy Rogers) -- 27-10, 12-6 SEC. 3/19/26- NCAA South Region First Round vs. (14) Marist (W 63-56). 3/21/26- NCAA South Region Second Round vs. (6) Indiana (W 68-60). 3/26/26- NCAA South Region Semifinal vs. (2) Arizona (W 91-79). 3/28/26- NCAA South Region Championship vs. (4) Oklahoma (L 83-61). Great Elite Eight run for the Crimson Tide, but a better showing in that game would have been appreciated. Still, they redeem themselves from last seasons disaster. Troy (Benton Gale) -- 21-11, 15-5 Sun Belt. 3/18/26- NIT West Region Second Round vs. (5) Fresno State (L 95-87). A quick end to the postseason for the Trojans who were really put in a tough bracket. Coach Gale has to be proud of his team though, who just missed out on an NCAA Tournament. |

2026 Postseason Recap
We already know that Coach Hoo and St. John's won the NCAA Tournament, but how about the other 3 tournaments? In the NIT Final Four, (2W) Illinois State defeated (6S) UC Irvine 82-80 in the first semifinal. The second semifinal saw (4E) Georgetown defeat (2MW) California 77-70. The NIT championship was quite disappointing, as Georgetown beat Illinois State 78-59. The CBI Championship Series featured 2 teams that quite honestly are expected to be in the NCAA Tournament every year, and teams that probably should never be playing in the CBI. (1) Kentucky beat (10) Ohio State 2 games to none. Kentucky won the first game 71-66 and the second game was much easier as they won it 92-70. Finally, in the CIT Championship game, (16) Holy Cross completed the cinderella run with a 78-60 win over (7) Stetson. |

No conference movement this season, and 8 of our 19 coaches received job offers as I ran through the head coach movement. Unfortunately, 2 of those 8 coaches need a job, as Colorado has fired Rob Nielsen and UConn has fired Randolph Childress. They received the same 5 offers, and none of them are really overwhelming: Hampton, Alabama State, Norfolk State, Delaware State, and Bryant. First come first serve for Mr. Nielsen and Mr. Childress. Feel free to get ahold of me if you want info on any of the teams.
Dean Hoo is a wanted man, no surprise after winning back to back national championships. The list of teams requesting his services are Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Iowa, Pitt, Purdue, Syracuse, VCU, Wake Forest, Villanova, Oklahoma Statae, and Penn State. Gonzaga and Villanova are tempting "mid-major" offers. Roy Rogers also got several offers, from the likes of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Purdue, Wake Forest, Xavier, Colorado, Washington, Oklahoma State, and Penn State. Benito Sanchez got mostly the same offers as Dean and Roy did: Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Iowa, Pitt, Purdue, Syracuse, VCU, Wake Forest, Villanova, Oklahoma State, and Penn State. Tim Shepard got offers from Villanova, Oklahoma State, and Penn State. Ess Vee and his national coach of the year award attracted 2 offers: Georgia Tech and Penn State. Brett Hawkins got 1 lone offer, Southern Miss. Not sure if he wants to move to another team in the same conference. As always, if you guys have any questions about any of the teams that are trying to win your services, feel free to let me know. And for those that didn't get job offers, you're more than welcome to resign and see what if any offers you get, just let me know. Also, if anybody wants to retire and leave this dynasty, that's fine too, feel free to let me know. With the holidays coming up, I know everyone is busy, so I'll give it until next Saturday then I'll start harrassing people. Haha. |

While there seems to be only one way to go at this point, Coach Vee is staying put.

I have moved Rob Nielsen to Bryant and Randolph Childress to Alabama State.
As far as Roy Rogers goes, after going through all his job offers, I can safely say that there isn't really a standout offer out there. The schools that have the most potential talent are Alabama, where he is currently at, along with Wake Forest and Purdue. Problem is most of them are upperclassmen, so it's really a coin flip. Wish I could give you better information, and I can on Monday, but I'm about to take off for the weekend. Let me know what you think. |

2026-2027 Hot Seat Ratings and Coach Goals
Coaches on the Hot Seat Al Mighty (Notre Dame) -- The time is now for Notre Dame and Coach Mighty. After a couple bad seasons, the board is strong with their demands. A winning season isn't enough. Not even an NCAA Tournament bid. The board wants the Fighting Irish to make the Sweet Sixteen, and if not, Coach Mighty will most likely be job hunting in the offseason. Coaches on a Warm Seat Bee Mighty (TCU) -- Looks like the patience is running thin at TCU. Never mind they play in 1 of the toughest conferences in the nation, the board is ready for TCU to reach postseason play again. Doesn't matter which one, although the NCAA or the NIT is preferred. Just a postseason apperance is necessary, or the other Coach Mighty might be on the hot seat next season. Coaches on an Average Seat Felix Abel (North Florida) -- It hasn't been a bad start for Coach Abel in his 2 seasons at North Florida, but the board still thinks this team can win the Atlantic Sun title, and that is the goal. David Ginsberg (Sacramento State) -- Coach Ginsberg had a strong first season at Sacramento State, and the board sees no reason why that can't continue. A Big Sky championship is the goal. Ess Vee (Northwestern) -- Despite the successes of last season, the board wants to see more. Not so much a better run, but just consistency. The board wants to see Northwestern back in the NCAA Tournament for the 2nd straight season. Brett Hawkins (FIU) -- Last season was the kind of season FIU expected out of Coach Hawkins. Now they need to continue it. The board wants to see FIU win the C-USA Championship this season. Thomas Shepard (San Jose State) -- So far so good for Coach Shepard, who has helped San Jose State avoid the cellar for the 2nd straight season. The board is patient, and just wants to see that happen again this season. Rob Nielsen (Bryant) -- New team for Coach Nielsen, who the Colorado board finally had enough of. Mediocrity will be ok here at Bryant, at least this season, as the board just wants a near .500 record in Northeast play. DeShawn St. John (Washington State) -- Much the same as last season, the seat is average and the board is ready for Washington State to finally make a postseason tournament. Randolph Childress (Alabama State) -- The 2nd of our coaches who were fired in the offseason, Coach Childress settled at Alabama State. Unfortunately, he won't have it near as easy as Coach Nielsen does. The Alabama State board thinks they are good enough to make the NCAA Tournament, so lofty goals right off the bat for their new coach. Charlie Shocker (San Diego) -- Last season the board made the right call to lower their expectations after coming off an Elite Eight finish. San Diego had a losing conference record last season, and Coach Shocker didn't exactly win any popularity contests. This season the goal remains the same, as the board wants San Diego to finish over .500 in the WCC. Coaches on a Cool/Cold Seat Dean Hoo (St. John's) -- If anybody could ever be on a cold seat, on ice so to speak, it would be Coach Hoo. 2 national titles in 3 years will do that. This season, the board would just be satisfied with a trip to the Sweet Sixteen. Ariel Pryde (Fairfield) -- Last season was just the 2nd winning season for Fairfield in this dynasty, and Coach Pryde can be thanked for that. The board wants to see that again, and have already put Coach Pryde on a cool seat. However, the expectations have raised a bit, and the board wants Fairfield to make the NCAA Tournament. Will Brown (Wagner) -- Last season was a dream season for Wagner, who made their first NCAA appearance in this dynasty. It was also Coach Brown's first season here. That has already put him on a cool seat, and the board is pretty lenient, just wanting Wagner to compete for the Northeast title. Benito Sanchez (Stanford) -- Another solid season for Stanford last season, and Coach Sanchez continues to sit on a cool seat. Again, a Sweet Sixteen appearance is the goal. Tim Shepard (UCLA) -- Even though the Bruins bowed out of the NCAA Tournament much earlier than anticipated last season, the seat is still cool for Coach Shepard. The goal remains the same, a trip back to the Final Four. Roy Rogers (Alabama) -- The seat has cooled for Coach Rogers, and he's sitting cool again after last seasons Elite Eight run. This season, the board would like Alabama in the Sweet Sixteen. B.B. Gunn (Arkansas Pine Bluff) -- This one is interesting. Pine Bluff was just 1 win over .500 last season, and their RPI was worse than Coach Gunn's first season there. Despite all that, Coach Gunn now finds his seat cool. That has to be due to the fact they competed for the SWAC Title. That is the goal again this season, but the board would prefer they win it. Benton Gale (Troy) -- Another coach that has seen his seat cool off. Although they didn't make the NCAA Tournament last season, they did good enough to make the NIT. The goal is still the same, for Troy to reach the NCAA Tournament. |

And how is St. John's not ranked to begin the season?
