I think we gotta see the final list of who is coming out early before we can get there too comfortably.

For example, looks like Georgia Tech (who ain't one of them but just for an example) will lose Demaryus Thomas to the NFL with an announcement due tomorrow afternoon.

They have pretty much their entire defense back except 2 linebackers though correct?

That right there is a true sign of a dick. Your team just won the national title! Even if you don't like a Gatorade shower, at least be happy that you won and be happy for your players.

Congrats Bama backers! Nice season.

And also to the Texas fans. It sucks to have to play a championship game without your leader but how they battled was impressive.

Okay, that explanation by McCoy makes it clear there's no way he could/should have been back in there.

Yeah couldnt imagine a tougher situation for him. Championship game against the best defense in the nation. From now on everything will appear easy.

He came around late after looking horrible for 3 quarters. He deserves a lot of credit for sticking with it.

So basically Mack lost it for Bama with that dumb ass call at the end of the first half. Without that TD Bama would have been losing 21-17 and Gilbert would not of been throwing in his own end zone so no TD at the end there either.

Actually I would not be surprised if Boise State was in the Top 5 to open the season at least Shit they only had 4 seniors not just in the starting lineup but on the entire roster that would be leaving and they were just scrubs anyways.

No just saying that really it came down to coaching at least once McCoy got hurt. I never thought Mack was a great coach mostly lucky to be a coach at UT where can get the cream of nations crop of HS athletes along with USC AND U of Florida.

Great season for Bama. Always liked them.

Not really sure why Render thought we were smug. I thought this crop of seniors for UT were some of the classiest we have ever had come through the school.

I have always believed if you fight hard and lose, there is no shame. I am really proud of this team. I liked it even more than the Vince Young led team that won it all.

Mack does not call the plays on either side of the ball.

Yep, unless we get a complete redo from when McCoy got hurt it's all guessing games. 'Bama sure as hell wouldn't have taken the 3rd quarter off like they did if McCoy was in.

Kind of a rhetorical question here, but suppose Texas had a first round quarterback and first round tight end out, and a first round offensive tackle, starting wide receiver and starting running back at 50%, and they lost to Alabama 16-13. What would the response be?

With lots of their top players coming back, the Badgers certainly won't start in the top 10 next year but could definitely finish the top ten.

They were a horrible second half away from beating Iowa this year and getting close to that top ten this year but obviously, almost doesn't count.

Wisconsin handled miami pretty easily in their bowl game, despite what the score was. I'm excited for next season and am somewhat sad the season is over.

My top five to finish the season:

Bama
Boise
Florida
Texas
TCU

It would have been VERY interesting to see what would have happened if TCU or Boise would have faced anybody but each other...they most definitely would have been amped up to play a BCS conference team but...

I'm not really sure what OU has to do with any of this

It was a rhetorical question, loaded with a hypothetical scenario that was substantially worse than the adversity that Texas faced tonight. The rhetorical answer is "Nobody is interested in hearing excuses."

This isn't McCoy or Bradford specific, but I hate it when an excuse is made when a QB gets knocked out of the game. McCoy and Bradford didn't slip on some ice, they got hit and thus knocked out of the game by the opposing team. That is a plus for the defense and they do deserve credit for that. If you don't want your QB getting hurt, don't let him take hits. BYU and Alabama knocked their QBs out of the game and deserve credit for it.

I agree with this. Football isn't played in a vacuum. Injuries suck, but they happen and using them as an excuse just doesn't fly.

Senator, I'm not trying to rub it in to you, but go on any Longhorn fan site and the boards are flooded with "the best team lost", "if not for Colt's injury", etc. posts. All I'm saying is that it's kind of ironic from the very same people who were saying "no excuses" to the OU fans after the 16-13 loss without Bradford and Gresham.

Yeah, I guess you can find shit birds without too much effort for any college, these days. That is the flipside of what coolness the internet is.

Understand what you are saying. I don't have much use for them.

Of course the flip side of humor to this is the amount of Sooner fans I've seen saying "no excuses" about McCoy's injury who were saying the same things about Bradford being out earlier.

Fans have never been known for consistency.

Could have been an interesting scenario w/o a "championship" game though, especially say if 'Bama had 1 loss. Some pollsters might opt to vote for Texas in that case.
