Here's the story about it. It happened at the 1999 Hall of Fame exhibition game in Cooperstown. A few years ago, I wrote to several major leaguers and asked them questions about their careers. I wrote to Zaun and asked him about his called shot. He sent me a page long handwritten letter of his recollections from that day. It's a cool part of my baseball memorabilia collection.

Speaking of Zaun i got hang out with him a bit when he played at for the Kane County Cougars. He was with the Cougars in their first season and we went to a whole bunch of Cougars games. Real nice guy. Some of the players that have come thru Kane County have gone on to some solid Major League Careers.

I like Meche this year but don't think he'll get that many wins. He has good, consistent peripherals though.

I ran into that in a draft league a few years ago...every even round the guy before me picked the player I wanted. Every Time. I asked him if he could see my queue, but he said he was using Shandler's rankings.

I did invest some money because i wound up joining a $100 entry fee league and need every bit of help i can get. I also have lists from every free site i can find as well. The wife was going thru the bank account online and uttered the common phrase in our house, "you are such a freak".

Baseball HQ has been *way* off-target that last 3 years and has been very disappointing.

PECOTA - via Baseball Prospectus - seems to be much more reliable.

ESPN, CNNSI, and CBS have their lists along with Yahoo and they always seem "unrealistically" weighted. That said, I did find a nice ranking that's pretty close to how people are actually drafting so it's interesting to see that.

I think all of it is really speculation and most of the experts agree that the numbers will only really tell about 60% of the info. I like HQ for looking at the trends and other info moreso than as a specific list.
