Good repost of an article in tribute of Fred White. The audio version of the file at the bottom of the article is a great listen.

Rangers win 10-4. Outside of the horrible 3rd inning, Darvish was solid. He ended up going 8 innings.

Big win for the Sox, down to their last strike, Middlebrooks with a three run double.

Needed that one.

The Tigers-Rangers pitcher's duel was unexpectedly tonight, albeit by committee. Each team sent 5 guys to the mound in the 2-1 Detroit win. Never can tell what is going to happen in baseball.

2nd great part...the ending is especially enjoyable, since this is the sort of thing the Pirates have done for 20 years

Bronson Arroyo has never missed a scheduled start in his career. Damn. I knew he was an iron horse, but not that level. Only 89 pitches into the middle of the 8th.

When he's on, he's fun to watch. Not a lot of strikeouts, but plenty of weak fly outs. He threw most of 2011 despite having mono.

200+ innings year after year, and if his ERA is under 4 he's got a lot of value.

edit: And Joey Votto got on base six times today. All the Votto sucks talk of a few weeks ago was so stupid.

dola edit: Votto has 19 hits in the last 7 games.

For all the seemingly deserved shit Arizona got for the Choo trade, it looks like they may be the winner. Didi is raking so far.

So the Dodgers need to go 73-48 in the remaining games to get to 90 on the year, a number I feel they would need to make the playoffs. That's a .603 for the remainder of the year.

Mattingly can't be long for this team. I mean, it's got to come before the season is totally lost. What a waste this year has been.

The teams runs created is 178 compared to 139 actual. Give it time. Plus, the injuries don't exactly help.

I've watched a good 2/3 of the games this year. They just look horrible. It's egregious.

After this weekend, they may not have to fire Mattingly, he may just decide to go live on a mountain in Tibet or something.

Sloppy play, poor base running, no hitting, great front end pitching, sadly horrid back end pitching. Questionable coaching decisions. It's got to end, it's got to end sooner rather than later.

These last 3 games just cost me an 18-pack. They were some of the most frustrating games to watch along with that series against the Jints where we lost back-to-back games on walk off homeruns.

Miggy Cabrera smacks 3 homers against the Rangers, but it isn't enough as Texas beats Detroit 11-8. Texas took 3 out of 4 in the series.

That Chapman implosion on Sunday afternoon was amazing to watch, even as a Reds fan. Even if I did switch the channel IMMEDIATELY after the final home run cleared the wall.

Poor Pirates. Third best record in the NL and sitting in third place in the Central.

I just read the "Cuban pastries caused Chapman problems" article ... and am still trying to get my head around the fact that the Phillies have a Spanish-language announcer named Rickie Ricardo.

I think Miggy Cabrera did some kind of Jobu-like ceremony before leaving Arlington, and stole the Rangers hitting essence to use for his own Triple Crown purposes. The Rangers bats have been quiet the last two nights, and silent in the 1-0 loss to the A's tonight.

from tonight's Braves wrap up ... "Gattis’ homer off left-hander Glen Perkins was the third homer in six at-bats as a pinch-hitter, including a game-winning two-run homer Saturday in the eighth inning against the Dodgers. Gattis leads major league rookies with nine homers and 23 RBIs, and seven of his homers have tied or given the Braves a lead."

Trying to find footage on MLB.com and it's not up yet. Where did he hit it?

Edit: Found a gif at mccoveychronicles.com. Wow, 10 rows deep past triples alley. That's pretty nuts. Jon Miller saying it's the first time he's seen one hit out there where the outfielders didn't move.

I haven't followed. Has one of them not been playing? That's pretty shocking for two of your best hitters to have hits togetehr in only two games so far.

Although Heyward was hurt for a couple of weeks, they've simply both been abysmal.

BJ is hitting .153 with a .245/.243/.488 (41 games)
Hey is hitting .156 with a .293/.286/.579 (22games)
And let's not forget Uggla & his .179 and .286/.386/.672

3 of the team's 5 starting pitches (Teheran, Hudson, Maholm) all having higher batting avgs than the deadwood trio.

I do think its getting close to say the Braves won the Justin Upton-Martin Prado trade. Drury is the only one who is playing like that trade could come back to bite them, and he's in A ball.
