Bottom of Texas, I have been here for about 11-12 years, and that would have been right before I started to drive a truck, so about 10 years ago sounds right.

Gas is down to $1.31 today. Local report mentioned that sub-$1 gas is expected here by late January.

$1.27 today. Prices held steady over Thanksgiving, but they're back on the move downward again. I'm guessing they'll stop dropping over Christmas as well.

Wtf is going on. Back up to 2 bucks around here. 2 is better than 4 but I drive 1200 miles a week and this will start adding up quickly. It may be a tax hike in Ohio though. Where is crude at? I'm guessing this is cause of the Gaza shit?

Yeah, mostly. Seems like oil has been up something like $15/barrel since the dorks over there started fighting again.

I read something that said we had been spending 1B less per day on fuel as a nation from the peak. I'm sure some of the 200 less in fuel costs per family per month was going back into the economy. We won't recover soon if this shit starts spiking soon.

I worked it out on another board somewhere - was roughly £30b/month America was saving - ie. equivalent to bailing out the Auto makers each and every month I think the prices will rise again BUT I don't think they'll do as high as they were, probably a more sensible oil price around $75 equating to probably around $2.5/gallon which to be quite honest is most likely what it should have been all along imho... |

stop shooting heroin. up to $5 per gallon when current prices are under $2? maybe in cali. but it would be unheard of for gas to shoot up $4 in the matter of 5, 6 months.

New York crude below 34 and gas has shot up above 2 bucks again? I'm wondering if there was a tax increase in PA or if we are just getting boned right now. Or are the refineries just making less fuel right now. Diesel seems to be going down but the price of consumeables arent

I've come to the conclusion that petrol stations over here roll dice each morning to decide which way the price will shift, the changes seem to have very limited correlation to anything in the real-world really. The price locally here went down as far as $1.65 for a while and is now back up tipping the $2 mark again .... Why they build in this much volatility I have no idea to be honest, they'd make more money and cause less unease in consumers if they'd simply stabalised it at $2 and left it there unchanged for a year or so. |

Time to dig this thread up given the recent jump in gas prices. Can't believe how little we were paying only a year ago.

Just a touch over that here - about $2.85, tbh that seems 'low' to me still - its on a par with the price when I emigrated 3 years ago and so 'realistically' should be around $3.10 or so at least by now if the price was 'right' when I first moved over. |

we've been $2.88 for probably 2 weeks now. Of course, our price is VERY dependant on competing stations' prices and our biggest price competetitor is temp closed...

Over $3.00 for regular in suburban Cook county, IL. I'd imagine it's $3.25 or something in the city.

Okay-
Anyone else see routine spikes of 20 cents or more in their daily life? As in 3.69 on the way to school this morning and 3.89 on the way back from school in 2 hours? It seems like the stations are day trading these days. The other night it was 3.61 somewhere and less than 24 hours later it was 3.89. Obviously 20 cents on a 10 gallon fill is still only 2 bucks, but I find this sort of thing interesting. |

Here (Bay Area) I saw it drop from 4.19 to 3.97 in one day and the lowest I saw the whole weekend was 3.83 in San Diego.

Nothing new, at least here. I'd never seen gas go up more than a few cents at a time until I moved to Kentucky. It routinely jumps 20-30 cents at a time. And this is since we moved here in 2006, really no different now except it costs more.
We were up just over $4 a couple of weeks ago, but now we're down in the low $3.60s.

Gas is a new cost for me...
I haven't actively had a car since the separation. I just bought me a 97 Jetta. Gas was at 3.97 a gallon....close to $40 to fill the tank up....not bad, but not a cost I am used to.

Gas went from $3.62 yesterday to $3.99 today. A day AFTER it was announced that US Oil levels were much higher than anticipated - so much for supply and demand theory.

I've come to the realization that the law of supply and demand, doesn't really apply to oil/gasoline.
