Sources -- Michigan staffer bought tickets for non-Big Ten games - ESPN

Quote:
According to the source, the ticket was purchased across from the visiting sideline for a game against Ohio State. It's the fourth Ohio State-related game that ESPN has confirmed, three of which were in opposing stadiums where the tickets were purchased across from the visitor's sideline. The fourth was OSU's game against Penn State on Saturday, for which Stalions had purchased tickets across from both sidelines, according to sources. Michigan still must play both of those teams this season.

UCLA turnover number 4. The game has not reached halftime. They are somehow winning.

Thought Coastal Carolina may have had a tough homecoming game tonight with McCall still out recovering from the late hit last week that sent him to the hospital (he's fine). But they didn't miss a step-and cruised to a win over Marshall 34-6, no doubt helped by the 4 INT they picked off.

Sports fandom builds character, that's really what I have to hope is true.

Today is the first time in 52 weeks that my child has had his primary three rooting interests all win a conference game on the same day. It's only the 3rd time it's happened since he arrived in Miami in 2021.

Curious how long a rope he gets at Clemson. You win some national titles and are a powerhouse that long, it's tough to cut bait after a bad season or two.

On the other hand, it doesn't seem like they're recruiting nearly as well as they did in the recent past. And he doesn't seem keen on the transfer portal which puts them at a disadvantage.

Could somebody sort me out about something?

I saw (in my social media) where UGA-Missouri will kickoff at 3p next week.
The way the person posted it I felt like that was just announced this morning.

Is that the norm now? That kickoff times are only set 6 days in advance?
I thought it was 13 days (i.e. two weeks basically)? Am I nuts? Did it change?

tldr version of why I care: I'm due to have out of state houseguests the following weekend (11/11) for UGA-Ole Miss, friends of Will's. That weekend is ALSO the first family reunion my dad's side has had in over 30 years ... on the opposite side of the friggin state from me basically. I've held out hope that I might be able to fulfill some hosting duties here AND at least make the 3+ hour drive for a reunion appearance ... but now apparently I ain't gonna know for another week?

Looks like that time was set last Monday, so it was 13 days.

Iowa's game vs. Northwestern on Saturday at Wrigley Field has an over/under set at 29.5.

It's the lowest over/under in history.

Bad news, Jon. The SEC is flexing out the game time for UGA-Ole Miss to the 6 day window.

With last weeks results, not a single team in the Big Ten West is averaging the 25 ppg necessary to keep Brian Ferentz’s job.

Can anyone name the two active coaches that have more than 400 career games spent at the same school?

Hint - one has been entirely as a coach (in various capacities) and one has been a player, assistant, and head coach.

I don’t like Dabo, at all, but who is Clemson going to get that will be an upgrade? He’s one of two coaches, all-time, with twelve straight seasons of 10+ wins (Bowden and Saban are the others) and had multiple national championships. Literally went undefeated in conference and to the Orange Bowl just last season. He’s missed on his last few QBs, but had 45 wins over the past four seasons before coming back to earth this year. He is being childish with his comments to fans, but he’s not wrong

I think it depends on how far you think the program will fall. He's not a great X's and O's guy and lost his top assistants. The program isn't recruiting at the level it was a few years ago. And they're completely neglecting the transfer portal which puts them at a massive disadvantage. So it's not like this is just some bad luck or a tough stretch of games.

No doubt Dabo was a successful coach. Maybe he still will be. But the game has changed and the program is trending toward mediocrity. $11.5 million should buy you more than that.

Clemson has played in the Orange, Fiesta, Cotton, and Sugar Bowls in 7 of the last 8 years with 4 championship appearances and went undefeated in the ACC last year. If this season sets off 3-4 years of hovering around 7-wins, then we can say they are headed to mediocrity.

Other programs are trying to win, too, and I would say the ascension of primarily Georgia, but also some of the other ACC schools taking things seriously (FSU, Miami, UNC) and Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss has been a factor. Along with them clearly missing the early boat on NIL, choosing poorly on QBs after having two generational ones, and having less money in the ACC versus the worst programs in the SEC and Big Ten are all factors.

He would still have his choice of jobs if he ever becomes available.

If by choice you mean Liberty and the service academies. The DII and DIII ranks too I guess.

Otherwise not sure who else gets in line for a thin skinned sanctimonius prick that is so far up his own ass with denial that he doesn't comprehend the reality of the world he lives in.

edit: Keep in mind here, I agree with a lot of what he says he wishes was so ... I'm just not so delusional that I believe you can be compete at a high level without functioning in the world that IS.

He came in at the tail end of a college football world made for his style. And, as Jon notes, he isn't adapting to the new reality. And, more to the point, he's actively opposed to it, which implies that a change of heart isn't coming anytime soon (or ever).

Do you see them getting back to that level with considerably less talent? I'm not saying they should fire the guy or anything, but it's tough to see how he puts together a talented enough roster to overcome his coaching deficiencies without using the transfer portal or having a neverending train of 4-5 star recruits.

Just saying I don't really see the path toward Clemson being a powerhouse again anytime soon.

He's just mad because the money they used for pay players with was tax free when they funneled it through the church, now that it's out in the open they can't compete.

I hear what you are saying, but with the way the ACC is structured right now, I don't think it is too much of a stretch to see them go undefeated again in their conference. There are really only 5 or 6 schools that take football seriously (Clemson, FSU, Miami, Virginia Tech, maybe NC State, UNC, Louisville?) and then they are adding Cal and Stanford and SMU. I assume they'll go to an 8 or 9 game conference schedule with that many teams, so maybe they have to beat 3 or 4 of those schools, beat one in the ACC championship, and then beat South Carolina (and maybe Notre Dame some years with their scheduling agreement).

With the expansion of teams, I honestly think things are pretty ripe for Clemson or FSU to have an easier path to the championship than a lot of SEC or Big Ten teams.

OSU probably belongs at 4, not 1. It doesn't matter at this point in the season but until the red zone issues are solved, they don't belong at 1. Georgia and FSU would be my top 2.

Ohio State actually beat good teams. You can make more of a case that Alabama should be ahead of Georgia than Georgia should be ahead of Ohio State.

All this will change with Georgia's upcoming schedule, but who you beat should matter.
