If she survives, voting next week is going to double, and 95% of the new voters will be guys. Actually, maybe just Easy Mac.

Simon's absolutely right. I thought a couple of the performances were decent last night, but upon hearing clips of them back tonight, all of them sounded worse upon further review to me... except Bucky's. I'm not saying Bucky had a great performance (and I'm not cheering for him because he's the best singer), but it didn't come off as getting worse with time. It was what it was. Every other performance rotted over the past 24 hours, and, like Simon, I wouldn't have been alarmed about any of the competitors having been in the bottom three tonight.

I'd guess that Paris gets the few votes that Lisa got, but I bet that the number is so small that it won't make any difference.

Wow, Katherine being in the bottom 3 surprised me. I guess it's because all of us guys who think she's incredibly hot don't actually vote for her.

Yeah, come on... to win American Idol you have to get the teenage girl vote. That's who votes after all... and the ones that will buy the albums.

unless of course you type out the first of the phone numbers leaving only one and then proceed to masturbate until you...........................thus completing the dialing of your vote. messy phone but a spectacular way to vote.

2 Things that are just plain wrong:

-Katharine in the bottom 3
AND
-Bucky still being around AT ALL.

Katherine is cute but I have no problem with her being bottom three as she hasn't realy done anything memorable yet, not that anyone has though. The problem I do have is how Bucky could ever get this far. If they did this like the original format where the judges picked the top 12, he never would have made it there.

Now if only Bucky, Elliot and Ace would go away, that would be an improvement.

So - the "let's vote for the worst person" contingent switched from Chicken Little to Bucky. Is it just coincidence that with the loss of Chicken Little Bucky is no longer in the bottom 3?

I know some of y'all won't believe this, but country is a very popular genre in American music . There is a reason Bo Bice didn't win last year.

The judges picked the top 24, though, and he had no business getting that far. It's quite obvious that he appeals to the country contingent and is fulfulling a genre need on the show as a whole. Just because he's not a great talent doesn't mean people who like male country singers won't vote for him.

Remember Josh Gracin? I barely do. He was the military guy who sang country and frankly got further than he should have (although he was way better looking and sounding than Bucky). Apparently he's had a string of #1 country hits, and I've not heard his name since he was voted off. There's room for a lot of genre-specific people, even if they aren't as talented as some of the others. Frankly, I'd rather listen to a guy screaming rock songs than some of the R&B crap that I've been comotosed by this season, even if I recognize that one may be a far superior talent in terms of pure voice. I'm sure there's some of that going for Bucky.

You've got it. People who are fans of country are USUALLY not voting for Mandisa or Paris or Ace or Chris, etc. They want to see the people singing songs they want to hear (when they have a broad enough choice) or who can do a twang. Sometimes it is a sense of pride when a country boy (or girl) does good.

I mean look at the last few years. Gracin got fairly high (top 6, IIRC), and has a few hits on the country charts (where he sounds better than he did on the show, mind). Last year, we had Carrie Underwood, who is definately a pop/country type of singer, and benefited from the country vote when beating out Bo Bice (well and she has a nice face and body ).

btw, Wyclef Jean is the most horrible lip syncher ever. just a bad job, they could have just had Shakira on the stage and played Wyclef's part via cd (which is what they ultimately did as he "sang" over the prerecorded vocals). to think that him being onstage took air time away from Shakira's body.

Yet still better than all but maybe one of the other performances. None of them were great, and hers was not one of the worse three.

I'd agree, but the difference between the bottom 7 or so was so small that you could basically roll a dice to get the bottom three.

OK I will tell you then. Katharine not only is not one of the worst performers on the show this season, she is one of the best. Further, her performance, while not great by any stretch, was better than everyone else's save one. Combine this with at least 3 other OBVIOUS bottom 3 candidates (and very probably 4 or more that would have been acceptable choices) and her appearance makes no sense.

Now, if you wanted to make a case for voting demographics playing a part in her appearance, then I think you would have a case.

I just don't think there were alot of people voting last night. Normally they pull that rabbit out of the hat every chance they get to tell you how many votes there were...

THANK YOU AMERICA FOR THE 35 MILLION VOTES!!! AND HERE ARE THEIR NAMES.. AARON ADAMS, AARON M. ADAMS, AARON Z. ADAMS...

But last night.. nada that I can remember.

So, I just think you had a really really thin Margin between 1 to 10 which was just made even thinner because of less votes.

Plus, being in the bottom 3.. eh.. it happens. Fantasia, Rueben and Bo were all in the bottom 3 at one time or another.

To have a true american idol, 50% of the votes should goto the fans and 50% to the judges.

The way it is now, its just a popular contest not based on talent.

Clarkson never did either...

Speaking of Clarkson, guess they quietly decided to let Idol use her songs?
