Unless I'm seriously missing something, based on Peregrine's comments, I can't see any way that they're both telling the truth. My vote is academic at this point, but I'm going to cast it anyway.
Vote Digamma

Er, that's based on Peregrine's rules clarification.

The day was dominated by BrianD's accusation of digamma, though there were questions, most people seemed to agree with him, and the voting trend became obvious very soon.

My heartfelt apologies for taking up a bunch of our time defending Digamma. I still don't understand his play at all - they did not accumulate silver with him holding onto the Cloak. They lost out on two days of trying to get a better item. Baffling.

The only thing I don't get, out of all of this, is why Digamma didn't try to make a claim of having the mask. Did he know that it wouldn't work, due to other people's knowledge of whichever item it was that was in his possession on Days 1 and 3?

I asked him about this point blank in the PMs today. He said that Henry knew he had the Cloak on Day 1 and I obviously knew he had the Cloak on Day 3 (today). Still, that would not have precluded someone from passing him a mask. The fact that he didn't use this as a defense was definitely part of my logic in defending him. |

Here's my thoughts on that. He didn't have the cloak anymore and was collecting silver pieces. You claim he talked to you in PM's, but without a cloak how can he do that? Unless you are one of his wolf buddies! |

Damn, I always forget something. 1 silver piece was found on digamma's body, and was distributed to a random player (basically whoever looted his pockets first after the lynch.)

It is possible Digamma knew he was busted and knew that claiming the mask wouldn't work. It is a tough position when you know you don't have a defense.

Using the timestamps on the messages as a reference:
Yesterday, 5:54AM from Peregrine. "Digamma has communicated with you using the Cloak of Whispers!" I was also instructed to include Peregrine with a CC on all messages. Yesterday, 10:12AM from me to Dig 1.) I'm a villager 2.) I'm going to be out a good chunk of day today, so won't be able to talk a ton until later in afternoon 3.) Talked about Fouts eating the dart last night and impact on voting today - don't vote for him, wasted vote, etc 4.) Cleaned out mailbox to make sure we could exchange messages Yesterday 2:47 PM from Dig to me Digamma picked me, thought I had good thoughts. Digamma is a villager. Had PMs with Henry on first day, thought they were 'pretty much useless' Focus on Fouts/Lathum interplay, looking for someone to trip up in conversation, maybe RealDeal? Yesterday 3:57 PM From me to Dig Dig, if you helped Henry break tie then the conversations weren't useless at all. Going to read early posts, see if there is anything to read during short break at work. Yesterday 3:58 PM From Dig to Me Give Henry credit, Dig and Henry surmised things 'weren't quite up to snuff but I told him I didn't have balls to change my vote'. Said that Henry stated, 'Screw it, I'm changing it' Yesterday 4:18 PM From Dig to Me Can't figure out Ardent - why does he want to destroy all objects? Mask made sense, but why everything he touches? Yesterday 5:44 PM From Me to Dig Guy who gave AE the mask now dead. Don't have much insight on AEs play up to this point - if the mask isn't blown up tonight I will want AE to out the guy with Hammer, since villagers should want mask gone. Not sure I would believe AE in this case (really don't have a good feel one way or other on him) but would post for him to out the Hammer if Mask survives. Not much new on site - little posting (Note - he had not yet been accused) Dig, will catch up with you later tonight after lynching - likely won't have time for good analysis while at this client site Yesterday 5:54 PM From Dig to Me 'Well, something has happened. I'm going to be fighting for my life all day.' Will split into two posts - lot to read here. |

PMs with the wolf - continued
Yesterday, 5:57 PM From Me to Dig Are you going to use the Mask defense? If so, I wish you had mentioned it to me earlier in day. If not, then you can put heat on Brian as part of the one-for-one tradeoff discussed yesterday with Lathum/Fouts. Of course, if you are a wolf and take that stance then you are a dead man tomorrow. Yesterday, 5:59PM From Dig to Me "I can't take the mask defense because Henry also knows I had the cloak. I can't trust without PM'ing him that he would go along with the statement'. Best hope is suggesting Brian was falsely accusing randomly. Yesterday, 6:02PM From Me to Dig 'It could have been passed to you and then you were viewed. I tried to be direct about this in my hit-and-run post on the board. Catch up with you in a couple of hours.' I didn't hear from him again in the last six hours. I didn't PM him again because we were both posting on boards and I didn't have anything new for him. Perhaps I should have tried to keep talking with him down the stretch, but I was tied up with work and on the road for the majority of the last four hours. I understand I've drawn a target on myself here. I also know that the two remaining wolves did not attempt to save him when the vote was so one-sided in order to disguise their voting patterns because this one was never in doubt, despite my inadvertant efforts to create doubt. Edit - corrected typo Last edited by hoopsguy : 08-10-2005 at 07:33 PM. |

RA, regarding post #678 and Henry ...
I didn't quite understand where he was coming from on this. But he clearly could not PM anyone else while acting as a villager in his conversations with me via the Cloak of Whispers, which is a two-person item. |

So, digamma said he could talk to henry via PM within the past 24 hours? |

I just wanted to bump a quote from yesterday. If Lathum had the mask, this would confirm my being a villager who mistakenly viewed Lathum as a wolf. Still waiting for that healing touch. |

Didn't want to edit...I've been been talking to henry today through the Robe of the Priest. I can only come with two conclusions at this point:
1. digamma was lying to you. 2. digamma and henry296 are in cahoots and are both wolves. |

1.) He did tell me he was a villager, although he didn't protest his innocence over and over again after being accused. We covered in initial e-mail that we were both villagers. He didn't send a single PM in the last six hours, even though he was on the boards trying to squrim out of a very tight net.
2.) Don't know about Henry one way or the other. |

I'm not sure I'm following you here, Fouts. Are you suggesting that I'm making up the part about CC'ing the moderator?
Trying to think like the moderator, I'm guessing he wants to make sure that the communication between villagers doesn't exceed in-game boundaries. It made sense to me so I tried to follow that rule. Forgot at least once, but kept the entire thread in the replies so he could catch up on anything I might sending earlier. |

I don't know yet. Let me reread your posts. One thing I'm not sure about you is you said you passed the mask of lies to the guy with the hammer, but the mask wasn't destroyed. Still you did not name the person you passed it to. Leaves you just outside the circle of trust. |

Ok, I understand about not being able to destroy it.
RealDeal, my point was that the evil guys wanted a tie (including a wolf), but henry went against that. That earned him a spot in the circle. |

Anyone who has a wide circle of trust is foolish - no problems with your circle at all, Fouts.
Mine includes Brian and that is it. I'm hoping to add Fouts and the person who heals him with the Ointment tomorrow to the 2nd inner-most circle. |

Real, there is a small chance that he lives and is a wolf (he is wolf, healed by wolf with Potion or Ointment) but that would take one of the two remaining wolves having the item they need. My understanding of the rules is that someone can not purchase the item tonight and use it tonight.
The odds of this are, I hope, slight enough that we can embrace him as a villager without the cloud of suspicion that was over him after Day 2 (Lathum). |
