I stuck it in the wrong thread but {shrug} oh well, I'll just leave it. To get back on the original theme though, I was waiting to see if Goodell or Belichek would squeeze the trophy to check the air.

Zero fumbles in 72 offensive plays against a defence that finished 5th in forced fumbles (78 plays including returns). Clearly that must be some sort of statistical anomaly that warrants further investigation and calls into question the inflation levels of the Super Bowl game balls.

There is a rumor going around that New England had the Seahawks OC on the take. And he called that pass play at the end of the game. New England knew it was coming and had their player ready.
What says you?

Then he really screwed up going up by 10, since he couldn't control whether the Pats were able to come back.

Is this thread becoming the one for all ongoing scandals? Because if so, teh Browns are absolute idiots.

Why not try? I'm not sure I want a separate thread for each scandal, and those posts are going to just litter the Offseason thread.

The end of RG III in Washington? Or too much ado about nothing? In a letter to Washington Premium Club Members, they failed to mention RG III was one of the key players going forward.

stupid for seeing so many sacks and bounce passes?
I initially thought they would do what the Eagles are trying to and move up but the Skins have been really burned for doing that (the Eagles might as well). But with half of the teams desperately wanting an upgrade, there are not enough available to even meet a fraction of the needs. |

Probably stupid because the amount of headaches they'll have and the amount of time they'll need to devote to the fallout of excluding him is going to be pretty big.
It's a letter to hardcore fans...I doubt being a little overly optimistic would be taken poorly. |

LOL..
Seriously, I think the NFL leapt before they looked, and now there's so much conflicting information out there (All the balls were 2 pounds below! Man named as person of interest! 11 of 12 balls were either legal, very close to legal, or just barely under legal! Elderly man used bathroom before game! Colts had only ball that was significantly low!) that no matter what the NFL does here, they're going to have a massive hue and cry of "Witch hunt!" or "Coverup!". There's no good ending for it. So in short, they've already lept from the diving board, and while they're in mid air, the "water" has turned into burning radioactive waste, and they're desperately trying to find a way NOT to land in it.. But gravity/time will have its way...

Bishop I was never "in it" like some here. I was just trying to show how much might have changed since this whole debacle started. I often post things I think others here would be interested in and might have missed. I never said I believed it either. Like him or hate him, Schefter does have many "ears" and if this turns out to be true (which seems unlikely), it would put a whole new spin on the events of that day. And besides I'm only an admitted "homer" for my beloved Cardinals (and sometime Panthers). |

it's really mysterious how they've handled this. By not releasing even the simplest facts (how many balls were illegal, who noticed it, etc) it almost encourages all the crazy conjecture that's been going on.

I guess we don't want the negatives to interfere with the positives in the other offseason thread.
I guess it's congrats to Greg Hardy? Charges vs. Greg Hardy of Carolina Panthers to be tossed - ESPN

"Holder and Hardy have reached a civil settlement and that she has 'intentionally made herself unavailable to the State.'" Kids, if you're going to beat your wife or girlfriend, for god's sake, have enough money and good lawyers so you can make it go away. And the prosecutors are complicit. They could find her if they wanted, bring her into custody even. Which I know seems totally backwards, and most prosecutors wouldn't do that, and this case probably wasn't serious enough to warrant that drastic step. But, I know a few true believer prosecutors who are really involved in domestic violence justice stuff who would say that such things are occasionally necessary, to protect the victim and the abuser's future victims. If I was the state, I'd at least find her to serve the subpoena, and then only let it go after she didn't show up after that. At least go that far, at least have that step in the records in case this relationship continues and gets worse, or in case he moves on to someone else and something worse happens. That really sucks-after being found guilty by a judge he gets away with it because the victim wouldn't show up for the appeal trial. And likely a nice addition to her bank account. I would think if its an appeal it should be law that the victim must participate.
This is an interesting one for the NFL and its new policy. He was found guilty by a judge-can they suspend him for a first time offense off of that? Or will the Players Association push for no punishment at all? |

It kind of is. The state has subpoena power. They can compel her to be there, and to testify truthfully (aside from anything that would incriminate herself, of course.) If she refuses, or doesn't show up, they could ask the court to hold her in contempt. But, prosecutors and judges understandably are pretty reluctant to take those kinds of actions against a domestic violence victim. Last edited by molson : 02-09-2015 at 11:00 AM. |

There were stories over the previous few days that it was expected that Carolina will not try to keep Hardy no matter what happens. I wonder if this changes things now, or if the timing of those stories is important and that information was put out knowing what was about to happen with the legal case but Hardy isn't coming back to Carolina anyway.
