In my childhood, I became a Broncos fan because of John Elway. I now renew my allegiance thanks to Tim Tebow. Go get 'em, Tim!!!

Agreed. I find it easier to just go to the Celebrity Nudity Database or just call my wife and ask her about nude scenes. Then if I want to see the actual clip, I just try to find it online through another website, or I ask my wife if I can borrow her external hard drive for a bit.

I was invited to take part in the SFF Audio podcast this coming Saturday. I think I'm going to say yes, but I'm really nervous about it. Who knew that talking with people about books could make me anxious?

Science Fiction Fantasy Audio. It's a podcast (and website) devoted to reviewing sci fi and fantasy audiobooks. SFFaudio It's actually kind of well-known. Publishers send them advance copies and on occasion you'll see comments from their reviews show up in the front pages of books.

Ok! I remembered what my random thought was...

I don't get the best of 3G signals here at work. We are fairly remote and you don't always get the best connection unless I'm logged into works network. However, when I'm not, I noticed that if I rest my phone on the receiver to my desk phone, I get great connection speeds.

Not knowing much about wi-fi, 3g, etc...technology, I find this rather amusing.

It's amusing to see the Subway ad showing various weight-induced accidents from eating greasy fastfood alongside the Subway ad for the new Angus burger subs that are, basically, what they show folks eating in the other ad...

I find if I just hate my job, that rolls into a whole lotta shit that I can hate (like computers and programming) so I can leave a slot open for something else.

I remember when I was in college and used to think, "I wonder when I will stop playing video games, role playing games and the like and be an adult and do adult things."

Well, I am 37. I was up until 2:30 am playing "Left 4 Dead 2" with three good friends all who are 37 or older. Me and my friends still, more or less, do pretty much what we did when we were in college. We all have jobs, some of us have wives, kids, etc, but we still enjoy the old things. I have no problem with this.

Upon reflection, I believe the answer to my query is... When I am dead.

This girl that I semi-dated in HS posted her prom picture on facebook today and all of these people from HS started posting about how much life was better back then.

Really? Maybe it is just me, but I'm 17 years into what I would call a successful career in IT. I'm married to a great woman and my 2 kids are awesome. Life is definitely better for me today.

A conversation with a co-worker led me to think about what kind of a sports fan I am. I never thought about it before, but now I know.

I am a Denver Broncos fan. I am an NFL fan.
I am a New Jersey Devils fan. I am an NHL fan.
I am a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. I am not an MLB fan.
I am a Memphis Grizzlies fan. I am not an NBA fan.
I am a Pittsburgh Power fan. I am an AFL fan.
I am a Toronto Argonauts fan. I am not a CFL fan.
I am a New Orleans Zephyrs fan. I am not a Pacific Coast League fan.

The thought was sparked by my co-worker telling me that she is "done with football for the season" now that the Steelers are out of the playoffs. At first, I thought it was pretty weird, but I love the NFL regardless of who's playing, especially in the playoffs. Then I realized that I'm much like her when it comes to other leagues. If my favorite team isn't involved, I might watch a game when I run across it, but I don't have a lot of interest in it. I guess what this means is that I would rather watch a Toronto Argonauts game than the World Series. I feel badly about judging my co-worker now.

I know what you mean. It must be really tough for a fan of a team that has won 6 Super Bowls to really get into football or I should say, stay into football, when their 6 time Super Bowl winning team is knocked out of the playoffs.

That's what we call First World problems.

I don't have this issue with the NFL. I watched about half of each of the games on Sunday and will likely watch most thi weekend.

With the NHL, I usually take a break for about one round or so, simply due to fatigue from excessive TV-watching.

Exactly! I feel no sorrow or sympathy for someone like that. Even though the Chargers aren't in it, I still enjoyed this weekends games. Well, except for the Atlanta/New York game...yaaaaaaaaaawwwwnnnn.

Yup, NHL and NBA are the same way for me. I usually won't even bother watching the 1st round of either.

I love the first round of the NHL playoffs. Just so many games. Emotions are running high. It's glorious.

The first night of the NHL playoffs almost feels like a holiday to me.

Hehe. I think there's too many games. However, I'm not a huge hockey fan, so that could be why I think there's too much to watch.

I almost never watch a game unless it involves the Avalanche or the Pats. I just find that I really need that emotional attachment to the outcome to make it worthwhile to me.

yeah, it's definitely a new thing for me too. I honestly think it started when the Avs won the Cup in 2001. I had so much riding emotionally on those games and now games that I'm not invested in somehow just don't have a draw for me.

With hockey, I'll still watch if the Flyers aren't playing, but usually not the regular season.

With football, I'll watch any NFL game regardless of the teams.

NFL, I'll watch anything.

MLB and NBA, I only watch the playoffs.

College basketball, I'll pretty much watch anything.

College football, I'll watch the big games.

I used to watch the NHL playoffs, but haven't since they had their strike.

Wow. I thought I had forgot to renew my cars registration and was worried about getting pulled over and getting a ticket for it. However, when I parked an looked at my sticker, it already had the 2012 sticker. For the life of me, I don't remember paying my registration.

I actually wonder how big of a concern it is right now. I get the feeling the word got out among CA law enforcement to ease up on registration tags.

I was pulled over a few months ago for a rolling stop (really iffy, if I rolled, I went down to at least 0.2 mph for criminy's sake) in a car with six month expired tags and the cop didn't even mention it (she also just gave me a warning on the rolling stop).

A couple months later, I was driving my mom's car due to my car being rear-ended as a temporary until I saved up enough for a new car. My mom had been gone for months, and no one had been driving her car to this point, so we didn't bother with registration yet. It was some five-six months overdue. The cop did actually pull me over for the tags, but when I explained it was a temporary until I saved up enough cash to get the new car, he let it go.

These might be extreme examples, but I have known many people who freak out if their tags are a day overdue, but I have never seen a cop pull over a car for anything less than three months overdue unless they were looking for an excuse to pull someone suspicious over.

Damn. Times must be changing then. That's pretty cool they did that.

I guess I'm so paranoid is because I was pulled over and given a ticket for expired tags back in 2000. Granted that was over a decade ago, but it still sticks in my mind, plus with the state & cities hurting for money, I figured they would be trying to get as much money from us any way they can.

Don't quite know what thread to put this in, so I'll throw it here.

I'm beside myself - torn between flabbergasted & outraged - at something I just heard from a friend.

Long story short, he's mid-40's, had two kids (now like 2 & 4) with his early/mid 20's (third) wife. She leaves him, offers from the outset to make him the custodial parent, basically wants to see the kids every other weekend or so. Her reason for leaving was "this life is too boring" and "I didn't sign up for all this".

A few months have passed, he's trying to kind of get on with his life & take care of the girls. Hit a bump in the road when their newly hired nanny had to resign abruptly after a traffic accident killed one of her own parents & seriously injured the other. Needing a solution, he put reluctantly put them in daycare.

Today he has someone apply for the paid nanny position: his estranged wife.

Yes, you read that right. She left because she didn't want the responsibility of being a wife & mother, but offered to spend days with her own kids if he'd pay her a salary.

Fucking cunt.

Does anyone else have a wife or significant other who does crazy shit when you are away from home for a few days? I just finished a 4-day trip and I come home and my wife has undertaken a kitchen remodel complete with demolition, a new backsplash, moved dishwasher, and the process of changing the color of the cabinets. It's a bit shocking.
