Dola , Hawaii's schedule is really fucced right now. we have 4 open spots for next year, and we decline a Louisville game? WTF. Michigan St. Opted out of their contract for next years game, or is trying to do so, what a bunch of sissies.

I can't help but wonder what the financial picture of traveling to L'ville would have been.

Based on an article, it looks like it cost them about $150k to go to Alabama this season (worthwhile because of the reported $650k guarantee by 'Bama).
I wonder what Louisville was offering in terms of a payout, this might simply have been a case of the profit not being worth the hassle & expense of making the trip.

In which case, I can't really blame them for turning it down. Just as easily though, it could simply be a matter of the benefit of a win over Louisville not being worth the risk of a loss, which I could also easily understand the thinking of.

FWIW, the UGA/Okl.State game was just finalized this past week, so it's possible that the rumor was at least a legit possibility for a while.

Ahh I see, thx for that news. I woulda loved to see Hawaii @ Georgia, that woulda been Hawaii's toughest game in years (which everyone and everyone knows we need better quality opponents)

Pretty good deal for both teams. Georgia plays them at home next year in exchange for opening the home schedule for Oklahoma State in their remodeled stadium in 2009.

U of L's stadium only holds about 45,000. I'm guessing they'd be offering significantly less than $650k.

Florida has Florida state(generally a very tough game, so i wont fault them)
ND has michigan, GT, USC, michigan state
GT played ND

Wisconsin played....no one...and your argument about then down big 10 says it all...they have beaten up teams who arent very good this year. I like wisconsin, but the only reason they are where they are at is becuase they got an incredibly favorable schedule.

Am I the only one on the board who saw Wisconsin play Michigan???

Dunno if it's been posted here (brief scan didn't show up) or if anybody but me cares, but if anybody watched the Terps game yesterday, apparently the TV coverage of our o-lineman (Woods) who got hit hard was almost as scary as it was being there in the stadium realizing he wasn't moving at all and everybody was VERY nervous, especially when we saw the helo land so it could transport him up to Shock Trauma. Anyway, umterps.com had an update today:

The scoreless third quarter was halted momentarily as junior offensive guard Donnie Woods was airlifted to a nearby hospital following a neck injury.
Woods was released early Sunday morning from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore. All tests performed on Woods at the hospital were negative. He was re-evaluated on Sunday morning by members of the Maryland Sports Medicine Staff and team physicians. Woods' status will be evaluated throughout the week by the team physicians and the Sports Medicine Staff.

I thought this was good news.

Game was tied in the 4th quarter so I don't know what you're talking about. Badgers made a much better showing against Michigan than Notre Dame, to name 1 team.

I dont much like Notre Dame this year, and i think USC will tear through that weak secondary. Therefore, my opinion of michigan isnt nearly as high as that of Ohio State. Rightly or wrongly, i dont have the same respect for what wisconsin has done as someone like Wake Forest in the ACC without their starting QB or RB all year.

If it's like other sports, the exemption is only for playing at Hawaii -- you don't get it generally for scheduling them.

So, I was ordering a Rutgers shirt tonight..and the funniest thing is evident on pretty much anything sold with Rutgers on it.

NOTHING indicates the school is in New Jersey.

That said, McGreevey's plan that Corzine seems modestly interested to merge UMDNJ, NJIT and Rutgers together to form one University of New Jersey really isn't going to happen now.

Not that it was any closer to happening before...though they did successfully manage to merge all the colleges after much resistance.

Anyway, I just thought it was weird..and not that I necessarily want it to change, but..you'd think they could stick a "State University of New Jersey" on a shirt or a hat under Rutgers?

Meh. Maybe the people who make the gear still think its the pre-1950s and we're still hanging out in Ivyland.

Having Rutgers associated with metro NYC is a marketer's/advertiser's/Rutgers recruiter's/Mike Tranghese's/etc dream. And it isn't that an unreasonable connection...

Agreed. They've never been able to do that before, but..I think for the forseeable future, it's not an unrealistic tie and makes a lot of sense to me. And the people who were working the game kept saying Piscataway, but..that doesn't mean anything to much of anyone outside of New Jersey really.

I really hope they make it to the WVU game undefeated, this good karma is working well for them and I'm sure that Schiano will have them chopping wood all the way up to then.

Not to mention the movie by Disney is already being written if they pull it off.

See the one-loss thread for the Wake Forest rundown. We could also argue that Wisconsin was without the guy who would have been their #1 RB (who was rightfully kicked off the team earlier this year), and their entire receiving corps (including TEs) had a career TOTAL of THREE CATCHES coming into the year. I'm not going to argue that Wisconsin should be any higher than they are, but Wake Forest hasn't done more than they have.

Our old logos had "New Jersey" in them, and they were ugly as sin. The block R is a great logo; no need to add anything else.
