Excellent third quarter for the Mavs! They turned a 9 point halftime deficit into a 9 point lead at the start of the fourth!

Dirk's starting to take over, though I might give game MVP to Dampier. He's been a monster tonight...

If they didn't call the foul on Wade early in the 4th, they're not fouling him out in front of Miami's fans with 10 seconds left.

No f'in way.

Incidentally, Jeebs, first game of the series I've sat in front of the TV and watched.

I figured with the 2-0 lead, the Mavs were safe from my influence.

That Wade guy is pretty good huh? Another great performance for him. This obviously was the Heat's best performance of the series. Nice to see the Heat bench finally make it to the Finals. Hopefully those guys can continue to play well. I said at the beginning of the series that the player that really worried me on the Mavs was Harris based on his ability to drive to the hole. After game 1 I could amend that to Harris and Terry. Those guys combined for one less free throw than Diop. I will take that for the rest of the series. Now it is a best of three with 2 in Dallas. The Heat have to beat the Mavs on Sunday. I really don't want them to have to 2 in Dallas.

FWIW I don't think that Stack should be suspended because of his foul on Shaq. Of course I have disagreed with most of the suspensions that have been handed out this playoff season.

Stackhouse suspended for 1 game.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playof...ory?id=2487553

Associated Press

MIAMI -- What Shaquille O'Neal joked was nothing more than a love tap from his kids will keep Jerry Stackhouse from playing Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

The league announced Friday night that Stackhouse's hard foul on O'Neal in the third quarter of Game 4 was worthy of a one-game suspension.

At the time, Stackhouse was called for a flagrant foul. But after reviewing the play and discussing the details with both players, league vice president Stu Jackson opted to upgrade the punishment to a suspension.

"The contact by Jerry Stackhouse was clearly excessive and warrants a suspension," Jackson said in a release.

The series is tied 2-2, with the Heat having won the last two games. Game 5 is Sunday night in Miami.

Miami was leading 68-51 in the third quarter of Game 4 when Jason Williams stole the ball from Dallas' Josh Howard and drove to the other end of the court. A few steps beyond the foul line, Williams dished to O'Neal for a likely crowd-thrilling dunk but Stackhouse swooped in from the side, taking him down with a head-high shove.

"It was a hard foul," Stackhouse said after the game. "When Shaq is going to the basket, we want to try to make him go to the free throw line and earn it."

O'Neal did, making both foul shots. Given the ball back, the Heat got two more points to stretch their lead to 20 for the first time.

"My daughters tackle me harder when I come home," O'Neal said of Stackhouse's play. "I'm one of the last players of the old school, and you know, you just have to take a hard foul like that and keep on moving. It actually felt pretty good to get hit like that. Thank you, Jerry. Appreciate it."

The Heat may really appreciate Stackhouse's absence from Game 5.

Stackhouse is Dallas' top reserve. He's averaging 13.8 points this postseason and 13.0 in the finals. He had 16 in Game 2, including 10 straight over the final 79 seconds of the first half that propelled the Mavericks to a victory.

Earlier Friday, Dallas coach Avery Johnson said he didn't think such a penalty was warranted, noting that O'Neal wasn't penalized for hitting Stackhouse hard enough in Game 1 that he opened a gash that required three stitches to close.

This marks the third time this postseason the Mavericks have had a player suspended.

Jason Terry was lost for Game 6 of the second round against San Antonio for punching Spurs guard Michael Finley below the belt and center D.J. Mbenga just completed a five-game suspension for running into the stands to aid Johnson's wife during the conference finals. Mbenga is eligible to return for Game 5.

Great pass by Dirk. If Dallas holds on, I think they've just won the Championship. No way that I can see Miami winning 2 in Dallas.

Wade has been amazing in the 4th quarter. I just wish they hadn't left 2.8 seconds left.

Wade committed two fouls in the final ten seconds that weren't called, and there was another crucial late no-call in game 3 or 4, when he had 5 fouls, tripped a guy, and wasn't called.

Wade's been pivotal in this series, but unfortunately it's been as much for what the ref hasn't done as for what Wade has done.

Game 5 is key. The winner will win the championship I think.
