The developers are saying that if the procedure I posted above isn't followed, ANY of the named rosters out there will cause it to freeze as they are all based on Pasta's work. Take it for what it is worth. |

Just played my second game - Maryland at Iowa, with my new augmented sliders (basically interceptions cut to 20 from 50). Maryland won, 31-16. I had one interception the entire game and Iowa had none (no turnovers at all). Was a great game. I could tell the sliders were doing their job, too, as I had a few balls right in the defenders hands that were dropped.
While I'd prefer errant throws instead, the fact that I don't have to deal with last year's #1 issue (INTs) makes me very happy.

Thanks EF. I tried that strategy when I downloaded the roster from earosters com.
I just played a game as Kentucky vs LSU. LSU is scary good. Kentucky's players are all just a bit slower. As many have said before, playing against a higher-rated team is more daunting than ever this year. I lost 24-34 on All-American. I just couldn't stop their passing attack. And I had 3 INT's in the first quarter... They weren't bad throws either...but I couldn't believe that they were able to pick them off. This is the first game I've played where I'm much lower-rated than my opponent. I think I will have to turn down the INT slider. I'm going to try & upload a highlight and see if that freezes my game. The option game does seem harder. At least it did that game. I'll try running it more as I progress. I had one awesome run (68-yard TD run) but the rest of the time I didn't get more than 3 yards on an option play. I also had a fumble where they ret'd it for a TD. I was *not* happy with that one. My QB did the auto-hurdle twice in a row. After the second hurdle he got blasted by a LB which caused the fumble. I immediately tried to challenge the play, but it wouldn't let me. I was not happy with that either. Hopefully I will get better playing against these superior AI teams. Otherwise I have no chance surviving in the SEC conference in our online league. Anyone have any slider sets they're using? I've only tweaked kick/punt power and I will soon tweak the INT slider. |

Anyone bought the Wii version yet? I keep checking gamerankings to see if they have some reviews...all the others are up but the Wii. I'm hoping it's a good game. My Xbox is starting to wheeze like a chain smoker and I'd hate to start contemplating buying a PS3 or something.

Is everyone getting LSU as the default favorite team or is the game actually reading our location from our consoles?

That INT killed me (it's something I do at least once a game in '08, throw one forced pass I shouldn't have). The game froze for a minute or two (when I somehow throw the ball away and then I couldn't do anything on the next play selection). Also, that one pitch where it bounced off a player and your running back caught it off the player to keep the drive going on a 3rd down late in the 3rd quarter/early 4th. I just couldn't stop you. When I stuff the option, you we're able to pick at my secondary; or vice versa. I did get better on D as the game progress. I couldn't get any pass rush going either. Did you have any lag problems? Two things I'm impressed with, I was able to nail 46 and 50 yard field goals. If you got speed, you can feel it. Also, the kickoff returns need to be tougher. Seems like you can always get it to at least the 35. Last edited by Galaxy : 07-15-2008 at 06:45 PM. |

A little lag around the time you froze. It slowed up some but it was solid most of the time. |

Ok, screw work. I'm heading home now, so I can maybe get a little playing time in before I have to run the FOFC-BBCF sim. Then after that, pure NCAA ecstasy!

When do you use the "aggressive" and "pinch" slide protections? Does sending a player in motion work like it does in real life?

A couple types I slid the line, but never anything else. I was just very conservative and took what you gave me. I had a few third down and longs where I took a slant over the middle or a dump off to the RB to big gains. I refused to go long ha, I knew it'd be bad. |

Just finished my first game - it was a lot of fun. The general on the field action seems pretty good. I saw some questionable playcalling from CPU though. I'll have to keep my eye on it. It is going to be awesome having Mike Goodson, Jorvorskie Lane and Stephen McGee in one backfield with Texas A&M. Good times.

Thoughts after 1 game - my traditional USC vs UCLA game:
Kickoffs and punts are definitely flawed. I've read and tried upping kickoff power and that can workaround the kickoff issue by making most kicks very deep, but that is a poor work around. Lowering punt power and putting extra loft seems to work against the CPU, but of course the CPU won't do that, so I'm going to be house ruling myself to fair catch most punts. Also sliders will be needed for FG's. My kicker with 88 kick power could hit a 55 yarder. Annoying. On the plus side, once I lowered kick power to 30, he was short on a 50 yarder. I didn't find the offense to be too overly powered in this game. We pretty easily stopped UCLA's offense, although they were very conservative in the first half as they jumped to an early lead on a pick 6 (I put too much loft on an out and the corner jumped the route.) However, once I got the lead in the 2nd half, they started throwing and while they had some success it wasn't anything ridiculous. In fact, they don't score any offensive points. However, their QB did complete 65% of his passes, so I'll probably look to tune down QB accuracy at least a bit. I did see 2 VERY wild passes for no obvious reason. With interception sliders at 20 (and no other slider changes except for special teams), the CPU didn't throw any interceptions until the last minute of the game when it threw a desperation deep ball. That was also a pick 6 though. 1 for each side and I threw a 2nd pick that wasn't returned more than 3 yards. The pass rush was almost completely missing. We were hurried 2 times. I hurried them 3 times. No sacks. A few plays I had all day to throw. The difference in speed between players with a 92 speed and a 95 speed is really noticable as we were told it would be. McKnight running is much faster than Johnson. |

It's still way too early for me to tell how this will play out. I lost the first game on Heisman with Ball State at Marshall (me) 24-34. Both QBs had reasonable 20/30 days roughly and I even saw a completely errant pass by the CPU. I couldn't get any sacks.
Second game was Marshall at Miss State with me losing 19-28. I got 3 sacks this game, so I'm not sure that will be an issue although very few sacks are due to the pocket collapsing. The main annoyance for me is the return game. I'm going with no speed burst on kick returns until I hit the first defender as well as increased kick power. I'm not sure what can be done for punts. The only option I've considered is standing still until the first defender gets within 10 yards of me or so. Pretty lame. In general the game feels quite a bit easier as last year on Heisman I got blown out for a week straight before I could even win a game. The difference seems to be that the running game for the CPU is doing nothing whereas I usually struggle on Heisman to lock them down. I've tweaked some special teams sliders and will be dropping QB accuracy to 40 for both sides going forward as a start. Last edited by Phototropic : 07-15-2008 at 08:09 PM. |
