We passed out on her couch around 3 last night while watching Bridesmaids. I was cuddlebitch this morning.

I have to admit, this morning was pretty damn nice. I like the slow pace. We spent the morning talking/sleeping/doing the cuddling thing. It was pretty damn good.

We made lasagna from scratch last night, got sufficiently drunk, and just had a great time overall. Well, I had a great time. I don't want to speak for her, but I'm fairly certain she did too. We *might* see each other Thursday, but I'd say I probably won't see her for at least two weeks now, if not longer. That's life...I'll deal with it.

In the past week Facebook has notified me of one marriage and two engagements. The most recent engagement that happened tonight I'm kind of happy about because I can't imagine a better pairing. I almost felt like bugging the guy about it. I know of 2-3 other engagements as well. It's like any guy who has been dating a girl around 6 months is getting engaged these days.

We had a low-key Date #6...driving range, dinner, then went to her place to watch the Olympics while she did some work. Things are still looking quite good. I will get very little time with her from now until September, but that's life. We have begun making plans for the fall, including a concert in November. I'd say things are on the up-and-up.

I don't know if it's because I'm in the Bay area or what, but, most of the women's profiles on okcupid for here, seem to only brag about feeding kids in Cambodia and that they traveled to all of these different places and want to travel more and you must be a dog lover, because, nothing says I have abandonment issues than having 5 pictures of you and your dog and just one of you that is usually with a group of friends.

Anywho... I put myself out there a bit. Started a new Okstupid profile. Wrote to a few & one has been writing back and forth. (Thought it was dead, then she reappeared) Just gave her my number. She's 28. I'm 39. We'll see...

I also did something really, really stupid. I put myself on Craigslist. Even put my pic in it. I actually got some decent responses. WTF? Talked with one on the phone today. She seems ok. I'm really, really skeptical though about craigslist. (I had put one up without pic & got a ton of fake replies... and one from the woman I met last month that had a bazillion red flags)

I got another reply tonight from a woman who looked GOOD. Only 23. She lives more than a bit too far, but the amount I am willing to travel is directly related to how attractive she is. After quite a bit of email chat... she has 3 kids. (My limit is 2)

Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out. She was really upset about it, but she said she couldn't reciprocate what I was bringing to the table. That's understandable. Oddly enough, that happened last Sunday...we went back to normal (which is talking all day) on Monday. It's a switch, but it's fine. I made my peace with that, as I believe it's all about the experience. I would rather have had the experience than not, and, therefore, I'm grateful.

I'm not sure why I did this, but I wrote someone a little earlier this week...perhaps it was just a pick-me-up or what, I don't know. Anyway, this person has surprised...considerably so. She's written me novels (which I like very much), and wishes to meet next weekend. I think that will happen...I hold out no hopes or expectations, but who knows what'll happen.

So what's everyone's red flags when scouring the internet for a future lady friend?

My top 5:

1. Dogs. Her main profile pic is her and her dog. She has more pics of her dog than of herself. Her profile name mentions dogs or she refers to herself as the dog/s mom, mommy, mother, etc... (I like dogs, but, there seems to be an unhealthy/creepy attachment to their dogs in a lot of profiles I see). This really applies to any pet, but, it seems to be predominately dogs for some reason.

2. No pictures of her, but, tons of beach and sunset pictures or of other random geographical locations.

3. The 'Save the World' profiles. I've seen plenty of profiles where it seems like they are more concerned with feeding starving African children or reading books to the blind. Won't deny it's admirable, but, doesn't really sound like they want a companion. Sounds like they want a chaperone.

4. Pics of them and their kid/s. Thank you for being up front and honest about having kids...no problems with that. However, I'm sure the perverts also appreciate that visual info. This just shows that she has bad judgment to me.

5. Novel length profiles. I get it, you have a lot to say regarding how some old man in China town spilled water on your dress which led you to believe that writing the romance version of War and Peace is going to bring you that perfect man that Cosmopolitan said you're always dreaming of. Yawn. I'm a guy, use bullet statements at the very least if you want me to read the whole thing.

6. Don't say, 'Please, not cut and paste emails'. Sorry chica, with about a 1 in 25 chance of someone actually writing back, if my email to you sounds like it's cut and paste, that's your problem, not mine.

After 3-4 years of online dating I got lucky and my wife was actually the one that contacted me. I had a picture of me in a Halloween costume dressed as a solider with a bullet wound in my head and for whatever reason it piqued her interest. Moral of the story post a cool picture and get lucky.

Internet dating sucks but so does real life dating. I think it depends on where you live. And the people you want to check out. You can't be a AA prospect trying to fuck chicks who are looking for major leaguers. You gotta know where you slot and then target the women where you have the advantage.

Seems all of the chicks that I see some people in here complaining about are the kinds that are filling my inbox right now. It wasn't always like that, though.

A few years ago I was just out of school and while I was employed, I wasn't making the kind of money I was used to. For a period of time in there I didn't even have a car. I still wanted companionship but the dates I had weren't working because I wasn't in the best place for them. Long term they'd have seen through me anyway. I wasn't targeting the right women and the ones I wanted to date wouldn't have paid attention to me.

My profile sucked too. My profiles always sucked.

Now though I've got a full-time job making good money and I'm happier except it'd be nice to have a cool chick to hang out with. I don't live in a big city, so I just picked the nearest big city. I tell women ahead of time or on the first date but they almost never care so long as I let them know I like coming to the city and if we were in a relationship I wouldn't let distance be an issue.

You write a confident profile and the advice about making sure you have interesting pictures help. I can't count how many women who have written me to say they love all of my pictures in different places doing cool shit. They aren't old pictures from ten years ago even though I look basically the same, they're all within a year old.

If you use OKCupid I would turn on anonymous browsing and go look at some guy and female profiles in a large city that's not the one you're fishing in. Look at some of the stuff people say and crib the best notes. Then use those things to write to write your own profile. It was the best thing I ever did because even if you can convince women to check you out if your profile sucks and pictures don't make them wanna hang with you it's not gonna matter.

I used to be like some of you guys who are all down on internet dating sites, but all I discovered is it takes a little confidence and a bit of initiating aka writing women and letting them know you are out there to start to get feedback.

Not all of them are 2/10 bitches who only want a perfect guy with washboard abs and a 15 inch dick. Lots of them do but I get notes from girls who seem perfect nice who just aren't my type that don't get any kinds of notes from anyone. Instead of targeting every girl with red in her profile why not give those yellow and greens a nice thoughtful note and see where it leads?

Honesty is cool but she doesn't need to know every aspect of your dating life in the past, your allergy issues, how much porn you watch or how you just wanna fuck her on the first date.

I can't speak for everyone, but, my angst is mostly focused on women that I, more than likely because of their profile, would never contact and why. Not really an 'out of my league' type thing, if that makes sense. My list was more of, 'things I stay away from' or 'why I will not contact them' type of thing.

I'm pretty sure my profile isn't the best, but, I don't think it's bad. We are our own worst self accessors though in my opinion. So maybe it does suck. All my pics are fairly recent within the last year or two.

I don't expect to be pulling it in left and right with my profile. I never have in real life. I don't have the gift of gab like some guys do and besides, I'm well past the caveman days where competition, quite frankly, bores me.
