They've spent way to much time developing her. That's the problem there, not a whole hell of a lot has happened with her since the second episode. Last edited by jeff061 : 11-07-2006 at 09:16 AM. |

Actually I wonder if now we'll actually see her power (I'm guessing super strength?) in more detail. Now that she seems to have totally given in to Jessica.

I've never seen anything like that happen from board lag, which would make it seem like you posted all of those messages on purpose. If it was really an accident, I'm sure you could delete them. |

Yes, apparently I suddenly decided I wanted to start padding my posts for the first time every on this message board.
Obviously there was some technicial issue going on last night. Apparently the MODs took care of it last night no biggy. Figured I'd atleast get some benefit on the doubt though. Kind of disappointed about that.

There was one time where I had a really odd board bug where it seemed to accept my messages, but they weren't showing up in the thread listing. I wound up posting the same thing three or four times as a consequence. Once I managed to get an updated thread listing, I deleted the extras to limit the damage.

Yeah, I've seen that before. I've never seen 10 or 12 messages in a row that each had only one word added to the previous message. That must have been one very precisely timed board bug that Kevin experienced the other night.

Ah, I see... I meant soft sci-fi in terms of exploring personal relationships and changes in society due to technology or futuristic settings, as opposed to hard sci-fi which deals more with the technology itself.

I was finally able to watch the latest episode this morning.
I thought it was good. Not as great as some of the others, but solid nonetheless. I don't understand some people's need to have the plot run at top speed and "secrets" revealed in each episode. A little bit of pacing, character development, and the like is all good. I agree with the folks above that think that the radiation guy will likely be the "cause" of the nuclear explosion in NYC. I also agree that Micah's power will be huge. I also agree that the acting is a bit uneven. Adrian Pasdar is great, however. I think he pulls the character off incredibly well and his speech about what he was supposed to do when he got there (I don't have a gun, I don't know karate) was excellent. As far as this show goes, his character is pretty complex and he's done a great job with it. Also, Ali Larter as Evil Ali (or Jessica) is also very, very good. Next episode looks like a doozy...

Another thing. The different symbols are interesting. I could easily see it either being a division between "bad" and "good" or that the "marks" on the cop and radiation guy's necks are the beginning of the symbol manifesting itself somehow.

I think the only actors I have serious issues with are somewhat minor characters - the neighbor girl and the red-head friend of Ali Larter... those two, particularly the redhead, are just awful.

Agreed, though I find the neighbor girl more annoying. I haven't been all that impressed with the young doctor, but I am thinking that has more to do with the crappy dialogue he's forced to spew than the actor himself. I like the cheerleader too. She pulls it off well. I also really like her mom for some reason. She has nailed every scene she's been in and seems like the ideal woman for a guy like Horn-Rimmed Glasses to marry (e.g., the perfect cover for his secret dealings and a woman who is so obsessed with her show dog and the like that she really wouldn't question or notice any oddness).

The red head friend of Ali easily wins my award as worst actress. She grates on my nerves when she is in scenes and is the only one I find painful to watch.

Hiro is so going to hook up with that waitress.
Lot of stuff in this episode. HRG Guy is becoming more and more interesting and complex a character. I happen to like neighbour girl a lot. I don't know why; I just do. I hate Nikki's redheaded friend too and I can't stand the cheerleader's mom. A beaut of a cliffhanger for them to end on, too, with lots of good dangling ends. The whole idea of the professor son's dreams is a fascinating one. Is it sourcing from the kid or is it the son himself? Also, the family revelation in this episode causes me to think that the son must have some type of power too.

Loved this episode.
I feel safe in saying HRG is on the good guy side of the fence but is certainly going to have dark leanings. I got a kick out of the waitress. Is Hiro's friend going to be stuck in an alternate timeline now? One thing I'm not crazy about is how some cliff-hangers remain cliff-hangers for 2 weeks. Such as the Nikki storyline being skipped this week.

This was a great episode. I liked how HRG became more ambigious in his motives and I guess this one rules out that he controls Syler. He was willing to use force to get Issac painting. Though it seems Edan has some super powers of persuasion (or as stated on another board "Bene Gesserit powers").
The waitress was interesting in her powers. It was super memory, but then able to build on that memory to learn things she didn't know. Though even though it seemed Hiro went back in time, the waitress still got axed. Hiro's friend seems to be in the same timeline because the picture changed to include Hiro. Another interesting thing pointed out on another board, the 'dream kid' was named Sanjog Iyer. If we take his first initial... S. Iyer. Looks somewhat close to Syler... though that could just be streaching things a biiit too far. And everyone doesn't have a power. Gomer Pyle in the diner didn't have a power. Outside of Nathan and Peter, the Petrelli clan seemed unpowered. Of course the people they'll focus on have powers, but that's because it's a show called "Heroes" . Oh, and interestingly, the HRG guy made reference to something going wrong 14 (or so years back) with an individual. I assumed he was refering to Syler and then HRG said that they had to take in Claire from the single mother. Is Claire Syler's daughter? Or did I mishear/interpret that?

Unless Hiro hasn't gone through enough time to prevent it yet? That may be a possiblity, imo, depending on how fast time moves in alternate timelines (if that makes any sense0 Quote:
Not even close. Their physiques/heights are completely different. It'd require Syler to have shapeshifting abilities in addition to his telekinesis. Quote:
I agree. Ando doesn't seem to have a power either. [/quote]Oh, and interestingly, the HRG guy made reference to something going wrong 14 (or so years back) with an individual. If Claire is in fact Sylar's daughter, that becomes an even more intriguing point, possibly an important one if Sylar himself has some sort of regenerative capability, albeit to a lesser extent than Claire's.

So far, Sylar has been shown to have telekinetic abilities; in this episode, he also appears to have done Hiro's stopping time trick, although (thanks to Peter) we can't be sure if that's an innate power or an assumed one.
I hadn't made the connection of Claire to Sylar, but it seems reasonable as proposed.

I think it's had the right amount of pacing so far, personally. A good story, particularly one as complex as this one, should take its time in the telling. It reveals enough each week and builds enough each week to keep things moving, but it doesn't commit the mistake of rushing revelations.

Just because the kid is a kid in Mohindar's dreams doesn't mean he currently is a kid. That could simply be his manifestation in those dreams. And who knows when the picture in the file was taken? Not saying it is, but its an interesting name choice.

Good point, but then you run into the problem of why, assuming that the kid is a young version of Sylar, he would suddenly be manifesting himself in the Mohindar's dreams. Is it a latent power that Mohindar himself doesn't realize he has? Sylar setting Mohindar up for a trap? It's a fascinating theory and I didn't mean to sound so dismissive of it, so I apologize for that. I'm just exploring it a bit more now.

Though like I said, it IS a streach, but the name is very similar. It'll probably turn out that they picked a random Indian name and didn't realize how the first initial, last name was so similar to Sylar . Though I guess when you have a rabid internet fanbase, trivialities like this gain a far greater following than they were intended to.
