My label just dissolved, on the lookout for a new one.

"Maximum Appeal" is on the cusp of commercial success. Our first two singles have sold out, and we are now playing arenas in the US. We want to release our first album, but are waiting until we can get a label to help us with a fairly large press run...

Pocket Hooligan's self-titled first album release debuted at #22 on the overall album charts, and #3 on the Punk Charts with just under 100,000 copies sold.

What sort of contract are you looking for? Short term, long term? How much per release?

Keep in mind, the money up front has to be paid back before you see any money from album sales... so more is not always better.

Understood. I'm willing to take-on fronted money if it would mean more CDs being pressed--I was stymied by a lack of funds in the past. I'd do a one album deal for now...

Crawfish Pie's, "Don't you People Have Homes," sold out a pressing of 2000.

I have $50 in my bank account. What happens if I go broke?

You won't be able to repress anymore records or pay for practice space (so you would lose that time if it is scheduled). Your best bet is to go on the road and earn some dough.

Sounds like it's quite a bit harder now that he made the "can't go for a 28 day tour with a new band and no songs" type code in there.

Oh... wasn't aware of that.

Well, I'd do the longest tour possible, and spend the rest of the month practicing.

You can go on a 28 day tour, it's just you'll be rejected for 10-20 of those dates until you get a few songs in your set list. It's important to keep it as filled as possible.

So for anyone just starting out, I'd recommend 28 day tour and then use the other days practicing to get some songs.

I believe you need 4-6 songs to go on a 28 day tour and play most of the dates

Thanks to both Front Office Records and Patriot Records for offering contracts to my group. I went with Front Office...

I'm a little disappointed with the sales of my first album. Oh well, better start ramping up on the promotion and go back on tour to make money...

I made kind of a weak offer, considering I later found out you wanted more money for one album...

Anyhow, if you (or anyone else) has a particular deal in mind, let me know. There's no real benefit to "negotiating" over these things... just tell me what you want.

We made $548 from our tour. On the plus side, we now have 27 groupies. Although the example photos aren't the prettiest, it's a start. Now everyone is unhappy and tired though. I can guess how to decrease fatigue, but could someone please tell me how to raise happiness?

As for the update on Too Bad Bruthaz, the smash hit single "Read 'Em Their Rights" should become their first Platinum hit around 3 months from now, and their third album looks to be a sure thing for Platinum status. Tonight, T.B.B. will be releasing their second single in as many months, entitled "Keep It Gangsta, Dog." 1 million copies will be released.

To join in on SkyDogs turf here, Canadian Myth is releasing their second single, hoping to sell out the original pressing of 750,000 copies within 3 months so we can go for the 1,000,000 mark. Their first single sold 250,000 copies in 3 months, and wasn't repressed, making it an instant collectors item

I think i can finally get a CD that sells good. Im goona shoot for an 800k release. I have two songs that are both 64's and I hoping my single will come out around a 73. Should be enough to sell that many.

it seems that all my songs have dropped from "Flawless" to "Did We Write This" after i spent a few months touring and resting. I'm heading into the studio to record my debut album. It'll be interesting to see how and if that effects it at all

Yes you can. Click Band Details, then the record that is sold out, then update the amount produced. Enter only the amount you want repressed.

As expected, "Shameless Muscial Whores" passed the 500,000 mark.

Sales of "Getting Paid" remained fairly strong at 148,460 for the month. It still has a pretty decent shot at Platinum.

Yup, nearly 30,000 copies of the 9-month old release sold, putting us at only 43,000 to Platinum status.
Quote:

No kidding, "Album Three, Beeyatches" sold over 100K in the fourth month of release, putting it a little over 895K overall.

"Keep It Gangsta, Dog" really wowed 'em. It was the #3 selling single overall, #1 best-selling hip hop single of any style, and appears destined to supplant "Read 'Em Their Rights" as the #1-selling Gangsta Rap single of all time. Too Bad Bruthaz continue to proliferate gangsta shiznit around the world, fools!

Its back up now, and we(PTSH) are #1 on the charts with 760,000+ sold in the first week of our newly released single, Hardways. Woot!
(Surprising since our popularity isn't that high right now, although I guess the high rating of the single helped.)

Well I finally got around to releasing my next single. Just isnt doing as well as I though with only 300+ sales. I think the number of records you sale, relates to your fanbase of the genre you pick. No one that is a blues rock back has had number even near that good, but I guess thats just like real life

Yeah, the stickiness for the game goes away after about a month. The only reason I'm still going at this point is because of the label, which does add a bit of fun to it that I wouldn't have otherwise.

And I don't even have one of those bands at 100/100 music skill. When I was getting there in MM2, I'd start auditioning band members because then their other skills are obscenely higher since it distributes so things like intimidation and charm that you can't normally mess with can be improved this way.

I'm sorry that the game gets boring after a while - wonder what should be the next big addition to the game to take it to the next level?

Signing bonuses, the ability to promote, the ability to dump people from the label (and eat the bad contract), and discounted studio/producer rates for labels would be nice. Also, the ability to send mass mails to everyone on the label would be good.

I think deaths and retirements for band members would be a nice touch. Stealing members from less prestigious bands would be cool. Maybe a bio of the bands that people have been in, if you go that way.

Collaborations on songs and multi-band albums would be cool, too.
