Shot even for the last 3 rounds and finished tied for 31st with a +3. Earned a little over $2 grand. Mmm, prize money.

Yah, made my first cut as well... hrm, shot a 75-72-72-72! Easypar, indeed... :\

On the other hand, it's going to be tough to ride this momentum, since i somehow forgot to enter this week's tournament... ?!?

I finally made my first cut and appeared a few times on the stat sheet for the current EP tourney. I've hit 3 of 28 fairways, 1 of 36 greens, and have putt exactly 1 time on each green for a 72-71 (-1) and a current tie for 4th.

2 cuts made in a row. Sweet.

This one is a little more special since it was on the Challenge Tour in Europe.

Somehow this was all done by hitting 2/28 fairways.

Thread resurrection time, to celebrate the fact that for the first time, I have made the cut in back to back tournaments. Progress has been very, very slow for me in this game.

Me too, looked too random for me and not a lot to do to improve my player.

I still like it... takes an investment of maybe 2 minutes per day, and not every day, and I see my player continue to get better compared to the field... still haven't won anything though.

Finished 16th in last week's Utah Classic to get me $17000+. I think that was the first week I made a profit.

I've been playing pretty regularly, and have had some modest success. I did win one tournament on the lowest circuit, and I am now routinely winning around 5k-7k each week in the lower US tour. I've found that I can make more there finishing in the top 40 than by winning in the lowest tour (which doesn't happen much).

The odd thing about the game is that I am not really seeing an improvement in my game. It must be there since I am placing well enough, but I don't get the feeling that all of my training is doing a lot for me. Maybe they need more stats to show how you are improving.

In general, this seems like the kind of game where you can only start doing better than the players that aren't training as often as possible, and those that are higher up will always be better.

No idea. I have the email address for the guy that runs it, if you want to write him.

I suppose I could do that. I'm guessing that he would get flooded with email if it was just a site problem (which I'd hate to add too), but it would be nice to know if the game went away completely.

site shows this message now:

Quote:
Dear Easypar Friends,
I am real sorry it took this long to get an explanation to you regarding the current problems with Easy Par. On Sunday morning around 6'o Clock an email was sent informing me that the site will be shut down until 4 asp pages have been removed as it is causing problems with their server. No prior warning was given on this so unfortunately it came out of the blue to me as well. The problems I have with their request are....
1) They mention a name of a page that has no link to it
2) He says that the scorecard loads from the default (entry) page and it is simply not true
3) He mentions the same page twice
4) One of these pages is critical to EP and took over a thousand hours to write
5) These pages has not changed for 10 months
6) The were simply unresponsive when I called at basically could not wait to get rid of me
7) No notice were given at all re this problem, there pages time out after 90 seconds so the problem can not be worse than 10 months ago

I am currently looking at my options to see what I can do with te time available to me, but things look pretty bleak right now. I am very annoyed at the moment about this cause this smacks of some rash decision by a techie who does not know what the hell he is doing at Midnight US time on a Saturday night, quite arrogant as well when I spoke to the dick.

I will try and keep you informed on wat is happening.
Yours Sincerely
TD Easypar is currently experiencing some problems. Please try again later.

update:

Quote:
Disaster Update,
I had a small victory last night regarding an interm solution to get things up and running again. At first I worked on getting an inhouse server but I simply have not got the knowledge or the resource to run something like this from home.
To date I have been using the actions of you, the easypar users to trigger batch runs that needs doing. This works great providing
1) There is someone logging in at least every 5 minutes
2) No-one logs out while a script is running
3) 2 people don't log in at exactly the same time
4) The server in the US is not down for a while accumulating the jobs that needs
doing and then falling over the 90 second timeout when it eventually comes back on line.
In experimenting with a linux web server I stumble accross the crontab function which schedules jobs withing linux. And then I found the wget command that basically just runs a web script without opening the page even. COmbining these to I can schedule hundereds of small scripts, even though the scripts are on a remote server, at very specific times during the easypar week, taking out of the equation the most unreliable part of the easypar set-up, you, the user. I can also limit the each individual script to stop before the server times you out leaving open database connections. I believe all these factors combined will igthen the load on the remote server, whichever one we use, and stop some of the errors we have been seeing occasionally.
Off ourse I still need to write all these scripts and run those that have been missed while we were down this week, but I hope to run the 4th round of this week's tournaments soon. The usual information will probably not be available, but the final results will. I believe it is making the best of the situation. I will try and keep you updated throughout the week.

Yours Sincerely
TD
