They already have Cribbs. They could probably run a helluva wishbone with Cribbs/Vickers/Harrison/Hillis.

Their defense is strong enough to take the MWC.

So do the Browns play UNLV at home or away this year?

They picked up Seneca Wallace from Seattle who would likely be a pretty good fit in there as well. Not necessarily a prototypical QB but likely one of the best pure athletes on the Browns.

I think it's funny that we've been talking about the sorry ass Browns in this thread most of the day

I hope in a couple years I'll be able to hold my head up high as a fan of the Clowns.

Tomlison is still a marquee player, Jones never was even if he is a better option right now. Stupid move

The issue with Jones was financial. They would have had to pay him 8 (12? something absurd) million this year to keep him. That's a whole lot of money for a guy you plan to be your #2 back.

And they got LT for reportedly 2 years, $5mil.

I had the same first reaction until I saw the financial numbers.

Huh?? The guy who ran for 2700 yards and 27 TDs in two seasons is less valuable than a guy who ran for 1800 yards, 23 TDs, and had a half-yard less per carry? The move was silly for the Jets, but they obviously believe Shonn Greene can carry the load and didn't want to pay Jones 6M. They get Tomlinson for 5M over 2 years and a guy who can spell Greene.

Of course, if by marquee you mean makes cool videos and sulks a lot, then sure Tomlinson is more marquee.

Being a Steelers fan, this is hard to admit, but it seems like Ben is a big jerk, asshole, etc... I just keep reading stories about him and it sucks to read that about the star QB of your team.

I'd guess by "marquee" he means a bigger name. LT was one of the better known guys in the league. Non-fans don't really know Thomas Jones.

I heard Subby is auditioning this week, and if that doesn't work out, the Raiders will bring Nancy Reagan in.

Agreed. I knew he was immature and acted so, but the more I read, the more I realize that he is just a punk. When I thought he was immature, there was always the hope that he'd grow up and kind of turn into a statesman of the game. Now, it will be bittersweet watching him.

Larry Foote back to Pittsburgh. Odd contract though, 3 years $9M

He left last season because he didn't want to be a backup to Timmons, and the Steelers didn't want to pay him $3M a year to be a backup....er

So, Foote, Randle El last week, anyone know what kind of shape Rod Woodson is in?

Even when he was at Notre Dame he was so inaccurate I never saw the potential for an all-pro QB. McKnight, Samardzija and Stovall made a lot of nice catches on badly thrown balls. Say what you will about Clausen, but he was very accurate when given time and actually could be an all-pro.

They didn't want to spend $3MM a year for a backup in a salary cap era. I think you are starting to see the Steelers strategy in an uncapped world. Spend moderate amounts of money for experienced backups.

You don't have a lot of luck when it comes to NFL QB's, do you?

True...plus so many variables. Is Farrior done after this season? Is Timmons being moved outside? And we don't know how it's structured.

It's actually $9.3M, so salaries of $2, $2.1 and $2.2 with $3M bonus would be my guess, and he can be cut again in 2 years.

Yeah, I think it was his daughter. Off the top of my head, I say her name was Francesca, but I might be wrong.

I heard a story that Ben Roethlisberger dropped a chicken wing in the clubhouse and refused to pick it up. Arnold Palmer flew in from Altoona about half an hour later and kicked Ben out of the building.

I heard Arnie loves his pet bird, and his wife wanted to teach him a lesson since she wasn't being satisfied by him. She hit on Ben, who then had his way with her. When Arnie found out, he was furious and that's how this all started.

edit: And then, of course, Arnie threw Ben out of his apartment.

True story about Arnie and his late wife:

His wife was on Johnny Carson one night and Johnny asked her if she did any ritual for good luck for Arnie. She said "I blow on his balls." To which Carson replied "I bet that makes his putter stand up." She walked off the stage.

I didnīt realize there was an NFL Player with the name Richie Incognito.
How genius is that ? Thatīs a porn star name if i ever saw one

To say sth else : I hope Quinn starts and ends up having a nice career, if only to rub it in the Brownīs decicion makers/coaches face, was a damn shame how Mangini handled that situation last season.

Not to beat the Quinn trade to death (particularly since he got traded to my team - oy!), but I found this pretty interesting/amusing.

The Browns traded their 2007 2nd round pick, #36, and their 2008 1st round pick to the Cowboys for the Cowboys #22 pick in the 2007 1st round. With that pick, they took Quinn.

The Cowboys then packaged that #36 with a couple more picks and traded them to the Eagles for the Eagles #26 pick.

With the Browns #36 pick, the Eagles took Kevin Kolb.

With the Browns 2008 #1 pick, the Cowboys took Felix Jones.

Perhaps the Browns should have just stood pat...!

I work with a guy who use to golf with Arnie (and do some business with him on the side) for an extended period of time. I've heard quite a few inside stories involving him, and with that knowledge, I wouldn't doubt for a second that he went ballistic on Big Ben if the rest of the story is true.
