Glad it wasn't just me. I realize that things aren't always as neat as TV/movies make them but this almost felt like it bordered on parody.

Seriously. Agree about the gunfire, but I have faith that things will get resolved quickly in the next episode. Convenient that Gomez and Hank were the only ones in the loop on this, and now they will be taking it to their graves. They won the battle, but are going to lose the war.

I think Hank and Gomez survive personally, because it was so cliche... as soon as the phone call was made to Marie, it was obvious what was going to happen, which IMO probably means it won't. I think we would have seen it in that episode if it did.

I thought it was obvious before he made the call. Pretty much knew when Walt called for backup what was going to happen, for reasons Butter stated(only Gomez and Hank were in the know).
I'm ok with it, I don't need to be surprised by everything. It's not like they wasted 4 episodes on something obvious. It was 10-15 minutes. Last edited by jeff061 : 09-09-2013 at 07:45 AM. |

My mate had a good theory. These guys smoked another gang no trouble not that long ago. Surely they could kill the cops, right? Unless they aren't trying to kill them, but capture them alive. Walt doesn't want Hank dead, and these guys want Walt to cook for them. Capture Hank and they have leverage with Walt.
Risky, but they had the guns and the cover to do it.

I wouldn't say unleashing the hail of bullets they did is the best way to go about accomplishing that.

But do they know who Hank is and his relationship to Walt? I know Walt used them for the prison hits, which were tied to Hank, but I'm not sure if that became known to them.

Well from the reaction of Walt's neighbor in the flash forward I think it's safe to say that he is probably a known fugitive at some point. Other than that I don't know where this is headed but my guess it won't be as cliche as we think.

Aaron Paul rented out a local theater here in Boise to personally host and stream the next episode on Sunday. All tickets are going to be given away free via radio giveaways as part of a high school drama club fund-raiser. It's kind of funny to have a high school fundraiser based around a show about meth, but Aaron Paul's kind of a legend here, so I guess everybody's OK with it.

When the gang pulled up, I told my wife that Gomez is dead for sure. Hank looked like he had a chance to get behind the car, Gomez was quite a bit farther away. No way I thought he would make cover.

Hank and Gomez being goners seems the popular choice, and its mine as well. I don't think Jesse escapes though. My predictions haven't changed much the last few weeks. I think that the flashforward is Walt coming back to rescue someone, probably Jesse, with the bigass assault weapon being for the nazis and the ricin for Lydia. |

This. They keep Jesse prisoner to cook, and let Walt go. The DEA knows about Walt from Marie and Hank's notes. |

Seems rather odd that all those bullets could be fired without hitting anyone. What was Uncle Jack trying to accomplish? I think if Hank and Gomie were goners, we would have seen them at least hit at the end of the episode. Who was shooting at the SUV? Were they "accidentally" trying to hit Walt, or maybe trying to direct Hank's retreat to the car?
Jack seems motivated by money alone. His ideal is getting Walt to cook one more time so Todd can get good enough to satisfy Lydia. He doesn't care if it's 76% or 96%. He might not mind killing Walt once that's done, but kidnapping him when he's already agreed to one more cook is senseless. Employing Walt long-term adds complications. Getting the more emotional Jesse to cook seems complicated. His goal probably is to get Walt out of there, and if he can kill Jesse in the process, great. He knows Jesse is a rat now, so that would be good for his business as well as satisfying Walt's bargain. But killing FBI agents would bring down the weight of the FBI. He kept asking for identification. I think these are all warning shots. Trying to get Hank to back off so they can get Walt out of there. We have three hours remaining to get Hank to New Hampshire, then back to find his ricin. So we can assume Jack is successful. We know Walt's sole motivation right now is getting that money to his kids. That's why he reacted without thinking when Jesse called. Jesse knew how to get him off his game. Walt is calm and calculated when it comes to survival because he has nothing to lose there. So how do we get from here to there? This show isn't about Jack and Lydia and Todd entering the international meth trade. It's about Walt dealing with cancer and providing for his family. Walt disappearing and Hank dying for that purpose doesn't lead us anywhere. Either Walt comes back to die having succeeded, or he comes back to learn that his efforts didn't work. Mike never succeeded, either. Does Walt have a better plan? Who is the ricin for? I'm guessing Lydia. Based on the mid-season admission that he could have gotten information from Lydia and made a mistake shooting Mike. It's a slow death, so it makes more sense to use it on someone who isn't an immediate physical threat. |

Breaking bad was so popular in the US - apparently European countries have remade it ... although its a shorter series abroad ...

I thought that was simply an attempt to distract at least one of the agents for the moment it would take to pull out the I.D., cutting down the chance of them getting off decent return fire. I felt like that was what Hank thought too.

Who else thinks that gun battle will rage all week long with no one getting hit until Sunday? I hope they brought enough ammo for a seven day standoff.

If the Czech mafia shows up in the last 3 episodes having been unseen and basically uninvolved for 5 3/4 seasons, I'm going to be soooooo disappointed.

I can't help but wonder if they're calling it a prequel just to avoid giving away Sauls final fate in the show. Either way I really hope Bill Burr and the actor who plays Huell are regulars.

Well it'd be hard to make a sequel. Regardless of if Saul lives or dies, I'm thinking he's going to be in a lot of shit from the Walt fallout.

I just hope it doesn't turn into The Lone Gunman, great characters but spinoff was to slapsticky.
Which coincidentally was co-created by Gilligan. I say coincidentally because Lone Gunman came to mind before I made the Gilligan connection. Edit: Apparently people in the comments on that article made the connection as well. Well, hopefully it's a good thing and Gilligan learned from it. Last edited by jeff061 : 09-11-2013 at 07:06 PM. |

I thought I heard that the actor that played Mike retired from acting following his last episode on BB.

LOL This is the first comment my GF and I had after the first couple of episodes. I went through numerous tests, one surgery, and treatment (ongoing) for a cancer this year and so far it's cost me a grand total of about $1.7k out of my own pocket - a little more at the time, but I was able to claim a % back. My ongoing checks will largely be free, and my quarterly specialist appointments just over $100, with about 30% of that claimable back through my cover.

Aaron Paul is randomly dropping tickets around Boise for the local screening tonight.
He's also officiating rock-paper-scissor contests with passerbys for other tickets Aaron Paul - Bitch Contest in Boise - YouTube You do have to get the sense from all this that something is happening with his character tonight. But it also might just be he has bigger, official events he's committed to for the final 2 episodes, so this is the last one where he had the opportunity to do something like this. |
