OK, so at what point can I stop re-training someone for a position? When he becomes "Accomplished" at it?

Best to keep them training on it for a while after they become accomplished - they tend to forget what they've learnt sometimes. Haven;t got a hard and fast rule for you, but unless you have some other plans, I'd just leave them on the new position for a while afterwards. They will not get to be 'natural' at the position by definition - accomplished is as good as it gets.

I had this semi-ridiculous goal of getting the Solomon Islands into the World Cup. I naturally had to do a bit of tinkering, because as it turns out..the team is pretty god awful. But...I made a few changes, the team still wasn't very good, but I talked to my Turkish roommate about tactics, since honestly, my understanding is rudimentary.
We managed to get to the OCE Final against Fiji and won 5-4 on aggregate. We're still alive and we've shown up really well in friendlies against some pretty top sides, so...we'll just see what happens. |

I can't detect any difference in the processing speed. Obviously, I don't have all of those leagues running anyway but I do have 16 countries and 26 leagues running and speed isn't an issue at all.

Stupid little question, I know, but is there a way to activate player numbers in WSM2007 so that you can select them like in previous versions?

Last night, as the USA manager, I won the World Cup in 2010
Had a tough group, Italy, Sweden, Morocco - all top 25 teams and obviously the previous winner. We were ranked 28th. Got lit up by Italy, but manage wins against Sweden and Morocco, and make it to the next round vs. Czech Republic, who is ranked 12th. down 2-3 at halftime, one of my best players (playing with fake players but I have a feeling this player is actually Clint Dempsey renamed Derek Williams, still haven't figured out if when playing with fake players its MOSTLY fake players with some real player ratings and pictures sprinkled in just with fake names(ie. Dempsey and Adu) or its ALL real player ratings just with fake names..well regardless) get a red card at the 75th minute headbutting somebody Zidane style. I sub out a dman and put in a striker with a man down and tie it up at the 85th minute. Goes to overtime, and the US score 3 unanswered goals, 6-3 US. Next we play Mali, not sure how they made it this far or what country that actually is, but they were 19th ranked, we beat them 2-0 Next, Mexico, 17th ranked, in the semis, our archnemesis, the game points out that we are 0-1-2 in our last three games including a 3-0 thrashing during qualifiers. 0-0 all the way through even though Freddie Adu aka Chad Kelly is pounding them with shots. Goes to penalties and we take it 5-4, at this point I am doing the "eagle" around my apartment. The Finals is against Switzerland, another top 15 team, I think they were 14th, and we handle them easily 3-0. Freddie Adu aka Chad Kelly gets the World Cup MVP and I am enshrined into the USA Hall of Fame. Didn't play one powerhouse team, but it was interesting nonetheless, when I get home from work, I am going to check out how France, Brazil,Italy lost. Mexico took 3rd place. Its amazing how this game can suck you in and make you celebrate watching dots on a screen, my g/f (who was watching the State of the Union) was embarassed for me Last edited by Ramzavail : 01-24-2007 at 09:32 AM. |

So, any thoughts on patching? I'm still running 7.0 vanilla, and have a great career going that I'd hate to lose. I haven't run into any real problems, but I'd like to patch if it's thought necessary. What are people's recommendations?

If you've waited this long to patch the game I would wait until the next update comes out. Now that the transfer window is closed it really could be out any day now.

The patches are backward compatible so you won't lose anything don't worry - in case of panic back up your save game first just in case, but you should be fine. |

There isn't any difference between WMS2007 and FM2007 - these should be present and correct already HOWEVER please bear in mind that not all leagues have player numbers and its possible your division just simply doesn't ... |

Thanks! Another facet of my question was, however, whether the current latest patch still had some major outstanding issues (such as the "under-soil heating" bug I've heard about), or if they're pretty much cleared up by now. Since I'm using fictional rosters, I'm not concerned about the data update aspect of a patch. |

Here's the 7.0.1 changelist so you can check if your 'favourite' bug was squashed in that patch:
http://www.sigames.com/static/changelist.txt The 7.0.1 patch mopped up the vast majority of 'major' issues (and a lot of minor ones) - I'd always suggest running a patched version if possible .... |

OK, so I updated to 7.0.1, and things look good... but....
I'm using fictional rosters, but I immediately noticed that the attributes for a good number of my players (and staff) had changed. For instance, one of my strikers, who previously frustrated me with a finishing rating of 5, now has a finishing rating of 16. Woo! But anyway, why would this happen? If I was using real rosters, I'd understand the attribute updates (even though this is 2016 and I'd expect a fair number of players to be regens), but these are fictional rosters. Surely nothing should change this way? On a related note, my club (Oxford United - I moved from Queen's Park a few seasons ago), added about 200,000 pounds in debt with the patch, which was annoying. |

The balance of some in-game attributes was incorrect in the released version of the game - it didn't make the game unplayable as it was global (ie. affected both human and cpu teams equally) and was only really noticable if you knew about it and looked for it ... but it WAS something which we wanted fixed.
This means that when you patch up the game runs around and 'repairs' the balance of any players it considers to be 'wrong' for some reason - this can mean a few players jumping up in levels in some areas ... PS> This is mentioned in the changelist I believe. Last edited by Marc Vaughan : 02-14-2007 at 10:57 AM. |

OK, that definitely makes sense. That's more the answer I was hoping for, so... On this particular team, the changes to the attributes I saw certainly make logical sense, so it's all good. Thanks! Quote:

ok i have a question for Marc Vaughn.
in previous FM games you could sign non EU players to your squad if they had 170+ PA, they would get a WP after an appeal. in my current game i had a very promising youngster get his wp turned down even though he has over 170 PA (dont ask how i know, but i know). can a player in FM07 get an exceptional athlete wp like it was in previous versions? or should i try to resign him but give him a bigger statues in the squad to get him a WP? and 1 more question: if i have a feeder club in say another european country, can i sign someone who wont get a WP but send him to my feeder team whom doesnt have wp issues? im asking this because every time a wp gets turned down the player transaction doesnt go down and he stays at his current team. thanks in advance |

IIRC, someone posted about managing a tiny nation towards the World Cup somewhere in this thread. Can someone please tell me how to gain access to manage small nations in the game? Even when I set the database to "large," I only have access to nations like England, Germany, the Netherlands, etc. Is there a way I can manage a tiny country like St. Vincent for example?

You have to "Keep all players" from that nation, and I don't think st vincent has enough to do so even with that.

Quick question. I loaded too many leagues and my game is bit slower than I would like. Is there anything that I can do to reverse the situation. I'm in season 5 and attached to my team. We were promoted to League 1 in the second year and just missed a playoff spot in year 4.
Also, a couple of years ago signed a nice young left back for 10,000. He played 17 games for me. In the next off season my chairman accepted on offer that was too good to pass up, about 1.2Mm. The next offseason he moved to Chelsea for 22.5MM. During the July 1st move, I got a notice about receiving 5MM. I didn't remember that there was a 20% of next sale clause. My original 10,000 turned into over 6MM. Woohoo!!

As an aside and, of course, relating very little to this thread, '06 seems to load okay in Vista. I'm still in the process of downloading the patch so I have not seen how it runs yet.
Something I had not paid attention to, though, is that my save file is at 550mb and I am about to start the '20-'21 season. Without any factual evidence to back me up and just off the top of my head, this seems to be a HUGE improvement over previous versions. I can only assume that SI has continued this impressive work with '07. Kudos folks. |

When a board draw up a shortlist for feeder clubs they take into account situations and prioritise them accordingly - for instance smaller clubs are less likely to purchase foreign players and so will tend to find larger clubs from whom they can loan players, similarly if you're in a nation where work-permits at a big issue (and large enough to buy from abroad) then the board will look at ways around these problems ... (just common sense really). |
