Marie Curie Poland Scientist 20th Century
I struggled which time category to put her in, but decided to go with the 20th as that's when she won her amazing TWO Noble Prizes. |

Some of these categories are going to be really hard to fill late in this draft.

not to whine, but do we think people could put pick #'s in front of their picks - gives people reading along a good gague on where things stand...

Personally I do not worry about naval too much since humans have been sailing for a ,longtime. Now finding names that the predominant American audience will know could be a problem I agree. On the other hand, the Air Force is real tough since there has only been a little over hundred years of flight. |

And yes, please put the round and pick# before your pick. That helps your friendly draft coordinator update the first post.

Isoroku was really good, true, but he died during the war, so he didn;t get a chance to lead teh Japanese during the sever counterattcks by the US in the Pacific Theater in teh latter days of the war. That could have have either showed him to be brilliant or overrated, as severe pressure is wont to do. I liked Togo because he was clear and away one of the best admirals of all time, leading the Japanese navy to victory in several major engagements in the early 1900;s over the Russian fleet that was bigger, stronger, and more experienced, and crushed them handily. And of course, he lost too. He had great insight but was able to be defeated, such as the Battle of Midway. (Although to b e fair that was partly due to cryptography failures) That's teh kind of guy I want, so I went with Togo, but i did take him a round earlier than I had anticipated, so if I get zinged for it, i totally understand.

5.6 Confucius - Civil Rights Leader - China - Pre-20th Century
His philosophy established principles of morality, justice and social relationships that have affected not only China, but other Asian countries as well. He strongly believed in a meritocracy rather than inheriting position and encouraged self-cultivation and leadership by example.

BTW, wouldn't it be funny if someone used all their post 20th century picks and still had air commander left? |

idk - i sort of see "natural wonder" as "could fit in either time period" cuz it has existed in both

Not too many top of the line air forces left....figured that Israel has always had a dominant one...hence why I went there, and picked perhaps their best time period

Yeah with the geographical categories, you have some wiggle room, but it will be up to the voters. For instance, a manmade location could be made pre-20th but be more relevant later on. If you can make that case, go for it.

5.10 Pope John Paul II, Chief Diplomat - Poland, 20th century
He helped to bridge catholics and the rest of society, including improving relations with judaism and other religions. And aside from being one of the most influential people in the 20th century, Pope John Paul II was instrumental in bringing down communism in eastern Europe and in their being as peaceful a transition as possible. |
