gold find off of mobs seems nerfed as well. My normal farming spot (using 270 gf) usually is anywhere from 1-2k gold stacks for high end drops, hasnt yielded a stack over 400g in 4 runs.

When they said they were going to nerf Inferno... they really nerfed Inferno.

Not that I'm complaining.

So I played it. I think it's better despite the usual complaint crowd. Yes repair cost is more. I'm not sure about gold drops, maybe they nerfed your spot, but things look normal to me.

Difficulty is lower, especially specials, qualityloot drop is way higher. I got tons of 60-62 rares over the last couple hours. Even upgraded what I had equipped from a drop, first time I've done that since my 30s.

Repairs can be a bitch, but I die less(still die), however I'd take the chance of better loot over more gold any day.

I think the people who are complaining that Inferno Act 2 and 3 suddenly became too easy have been gearing up so much that they are now overgeared for those acts.

I imagine progression from 1 to 60, and anyone new to Inferno will find the changes to be very welcome.

I agree w/ this totally.

The attack speed nerfs hit me pretty hard (my entire itemization based on atk speed + life on hit), but I was still able to make some progress in act 3 right away.

That alone is a testament as to how ridiculous the jump between Act 1 -> 2 -> 3 was. Brick wall FTW

Welp, looks like anyone purchasing Diablo 3 needs to plan ahead now.

Digital Diablo III Purchases ‘Restricted’ For Up To 3 Days | Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Quote:
We’ve written and spoken about our concerns and frustrations regarding Diablo III’s relationship with the internet, but Kotaku notice that patch 1.0.3 introduces yet another baffling aspect to what I reckon is an increasingly indefensible strategy. People who purchase the game digitally are now being told that their copy of the game will actually be a starter edition for up to 72 hours. Why? A support agent says “…it is a necessary step to combat fraud and other malicious activities that can weaken everyone’s play experience.” What I’m gathering from all of this is that “everyone’s” play experience seems to be a lot more important than anyone’s play experience.

In case you’re not sure what the starter edition contains, here’s the details:
Act I up to the Skeleton King is available

Level 13 cap

Matchmaking available only with other Starter Edition players

No Auction House access (Real Money or Gold)

Global Play is not available. Players attempting to connect to Diablo III Starter Edition in a region other than their Battle.net Account’s home region will receive Error 12. See the Global Play support article for more information.
It’s the demo. Buying the game directly from Blizzard online gives access to the demo for up to three days before the game itself unlocks. Kotaku speculate that it’s an attempt to reduce server overload but maybe it’s more than that. Perhaps for those first 72 hours behaviour is monitored and vetted to see if any actions are taken that could undermine the integrity of the game or the exchange of money for data. It’s not just a queue but a queue with a security guard walking up and down, frisking the waiting masses.

Nothing would really surprise me. And, yes, it’s only 72 hours but that’s 72 hours more than is reasonable. It’s as if digital versions are now subject to the same delivery time as the good old British postal system.

Ha, clearing out a dungeon where all the monsters have the name of people who made the game. Either it's rare or(more likely) they added it in the patch.

Dungeon name is "Development Hell"

That Graveyard with the 3 dungeons in Act 1, on inferno. This time there were 4, fourth was apparently Development Hell.

Its been there since launch, just has a really low spawn rate. Good amount of gold down there.

I have my HP over 40k. DPS needs some solid work. Haven't even tried to kill butcher, thinking how long it would take(judging by Skeleton King) makes me cringe.

Was farming Act 1 last night and I think I finally had a lucky night.

Butcher dropped 3 rares, with two of them being immediately useful.

The first one is a 950 damage mace with 150+ strength and 9% atk speed... yay. Something to replace my two week old 680 damage weapon!

The other is a ring with 80 str, 80 vit, 60 All resist, 30% crit damage. The only thing close to it in all three stats in the AH is worth 60 million gold, so I'm selling it for 50 mil hoping to cash out.

If it doesn't sell, it's still a ridiculously great Barb ring for my Barb.

Congrats on the infernal staff.

But, ever since they nerfed chests and MF, it's not really worth it to visit Whimsy.

that ring is amazing! anything with all res and crit is top dollar. Id put it in the RMAH for 250.

Im a bit let down with it, I thought I might be able to clear it solo, but there is no chance with my current gear. Templar gets one shot even.

The lack of rare drops against bosses in Nightmare and onward is really quite depressing and I'm tired of having to feel like I need to use the auction house to stay on level footing as I progress.

I'm re-installing Diablo II.

That took me quite a few tries as well, I've gotten a bit bored with the game and didn't make it to Diablo yet, but Ghom on inferno is far and away the most difficult fight I've had in the game so far. Grats!

Congrats!

Still stuck in Act 2 here.

I did just level up a WD to 60, and steamrolling through Act 1 nicely with him. Any tips on gear/builds?

The more I play the game, the more my answer seems to be "get the best gear". hah. It really depends on your play style for build. Id say for starters for a2 gear wise, concentrate on getting ~600 AR and 35k dps. Try to get most of your dps from crit+ and crit%. One thing I am learning now with the later acts, is definitely get a helm with mana regen and boots with speed.

The going rate at the gold farming sites I know is at about $0.75 per mil.

Edit: Just checked, Up to $1.5 now per mil, due to the RMAH.

I haven't played in about a month I figure. I might go back at some point, I was still on Act II of the first difficulty level, and I'd like to at least go through the game once. I guess.

I got bored with it quickly, this is usually the type of game I would obsess about until I beat it, but something about the fact that I've already "beaten" the game 3 times on easier difficulty levels took that away pretty quickly. I had liked the idea of making a little cash while playing via the RMAH, but once playing and trying to progress through inferno ceased to be fun, that idea went out too. I RMAH'd enough of my gear to make my money back on the game and haven't logged in since.

That sounds more negative than I intend, I more than got my money's worth out of it (even if I hadn't ever sold anything). I was just surprised I didn't stick it out to beat Diablo on Inferno, given my history with games and my obsessive need to complete them once I've invested enough time in them.

I played through it once and was happy with that. I tried the higher difficulty level and the thought of playing through the story again didn't appeal to me one bit. I prefer the random dungeon / reduced storyline version of Diablo 1 or 2 to be honest. It was fun just to jump in a dungeon and kill mobs.
