I still think it's a lot for Carson Palmer. Especially considering the new labor agreement means you don't have to pay 1st rounders a ton of guaranteed money.

Well it really depends if Carson has a few years left in the tank. There a pretty young team with a lot of potential. It could end up being very worth it especially next year when Raiders looking good preseason.

It is a good young team which is why I found it odd they gave up so much for a 31 year old QB. If Palmer plays well for 3-4 more years, it's a nice move I guess, but I think first rounders are valuable under this new system and they might be better off grooming a younger guy for the spot through the draft. Or going out and grabbing a guy like Matt Flynn this offseason.

While I thought Oakland was putting together a nice season, I didn't see them contending in the AFC and just figure they'd be better off going young.

Palmer is only 31, not old at all. They made the right call going out and getting him. At least half of first rounders bust. If you have the chance to get the Palmer of old, it's an easy decision. Of course, we didn't know we were getting that Palmer initially, but in hindsight it looks good. The AFC is wide open. If Palmer continues his improved play, Mcfadden stays healthy and they get on a run, they could take the AFC.

I think the AFC is as open this year as it's been in the last 5-7. I'm not convinced the Raiders have the talent outside of QB to take it.

With free agency and injuries I don't think there's much point to looking more than three or four years down the road. You have to maximize your current opportunities.

This.

If you like your current teams chances but are lacking an essential piece, why not go "all in"? I think the Raiders have a lot of nice pieces but even if they made the playoffs I didn't see Jason Campbell doing anything but orchestrating an early exit.

I still think they can go 3-3 without Cutler with the remaining schedule. Hanie has at least been in the system for awhile and seems to have a knack for making plays when he gets in. But without Cutler in the playoffs, I don't think they stand a chance.

Is this the RedKingGold curse?

YESsssss!! Keep them losses coming Norv Turner. The sooner you are gone the better.

So the Chargers just got through a 5 game stretch that I said they could very likely go 1-4, but, instead they went 0-5. The team has clearly taken on the personality of the head coach which is about as exciting and motivating as Droopy Dog.

The next 5 games:
Denver
Jacksonville
Buffalo
Baltimore
Detroit

Looks another possible 1-4 stretch, however, they could just as easily go 0-5 again. With the way this team plays, it's hard to say which one of those five teams they'll beat, but, it's more than likely Denver or Buffalo. They won't beat Baltimore unless half the Ravens defense is out.

The Dec. 4th Lions/Saints game has been moved to NBC's Sunday Night game.

First time the Lions have ever played on Sunday night since it moved to NBC.

I believe the last time they played on Sunday was in 2005 against the Packers where they got totally jobbed out of a victory when Samkon Gado threw an "incomplete pass" when he was getting tackled for a safety.

It's the old wounds. They never heal properly.

What did I miss at the start of this game? Since I turned the game on the Patriots have scored every time they touched the ball.

Romeo threw out some defenses that confused #12 for the first 22 minutes or so of the game, but since he's got it figured out it seems to be over.

Chiefs DL was getting excellent pressure for the first few series'... obviously that is not the case any longer.

Hey...Palko's actually thrown a couple decent balls.

Given the Pats have a nobody-secondary tonight, but he's not HORRIBLE. His two picks were both bad tips by receivers.

Chiefs calling timeouts down 24 late in the 4th then acting pissed when the Pats add another TD. Kind of funny. Dont call the timeouts and they dont score again.

Gronkowski saved me in a league and I won by 0.60 points. A welcome relief after having already lost two games by less than a point and another by less than 2.

This is a pretty interesting site for NFL playoff scenarios

http://playoffstatus.com/nfl/nfl.html

So the Colts are still alive for the #6 playoff spot in the AFC - but they'll be eliminated next week if any of the following happen:

Case 1
Bengals beat the Browns
Case 2
Panthers beat the Colts
Case 3
Titans beat the Buccaneers, and
Jaguars beat the Texans
Case 4
Titans beat the Buccaneers, and
Bills beat the Jets
Case 5
Chiefs beat the Steelers, and
Titans beat the Buccaneers
Case 6
Chiefs beat the Steelers, and
Jaguars beat the Texans
Case 7
Broncos beat the Chargers, and
Dolphins beat the Cowboys, and
Titans beat the Buccaneers
Case 8
Dolphins beat the Cowboys, and
Jaguars beat the Texans, and
Bills beat the Jets
Case 9
Broncos beat the Chargers, and
Dolphins beat the Cowboys, and
Jaguars beat the Texans
Case 10
Broncos beat the Chargers, and
Chiefs beat the Steelers, and
Dolphins beat the Cowboys
Case 11
Raiders beat the Bears, and
Broncos beat the Chargers, and
Titans beat the Buccaneers
Case 12
Raiders beat the Bears, and
Jaguars beat the Texans, and
Bills beat the Jets
Case 13
Broncos beat the Chargers, and

I really, really, really want to see the Panthers roll over for the Colts, then the Colts own the tiebreaker and the Panthers get the #1 pick, then trade it to some team who REALLY needs a QB.

H2H is not a tiebreaker for the first pick. It is strength of schedule(worst sched opponents).

More specifically strength of defeat I believe.
