Nice game by Ohio State. It has been a good season for us. We will never know if we were National Championship worthy.

Well that was far closer than anyone thought it'd be. Guess Ohio State did belong in the BCS, huh.

Is it a rule that UT and OSU have to play close games? Not vs one another but in general. Christ.

Yeah. The ESPN radio guys were saying it was a easy decision to go for 2 and I don't understand it. Especially when OSU has a good kicker. I know it was unlikely that you get the ball back. Still makes no sense

FG as time expires to beat Michigan, VY's classic 4th down TD run, now Quan Cosby's TD with 16 seconds left. Texas sure knows how to make their fans piss their pants in BCS games.

oh please. every team could say that. if you didn't make the final game due to your regular season performance (which you can say about OSU because at #10 you can't even say "we got screwed out of a spot in the final game) you don't deserve the chance to play the final game.

Well, if OU wins the BCS, Texas was the the only team to beat them.

I see where the confusion is. I am a UT grad. I think you thought I meant OSU and a National Championship. I meant, I was wondering how UT would have fared.

Great game by Texas, but I love seeing us get after Colt McCoy even though he had a good game. Nice redemption for him after the rough game against Ohio State his rFreshman year.

At least we showed we belong with the top programs in the country despite the USC debacle. I can't wait until next year, no more Alex fucking Boone!

I'm going to miss Jenkins and Beanie though.

I was initially thinking the same thing but I can see it both ways.

If not for the bad PI call, the Texas PAT turns into a 35 yard attempt because of the excessive celebration penalty.

Considering Pryor's inability to throw and just scramble and hand off, he was the QB moving the ball threw the air. Without him, this game wouldn't have been nearly as close.

I didn't get that either. It seems like a 6-point margin versus a 5-point margin gains you nothing. Kicking the extra point gives you a chance at a game-winning FG if Texas scores a TD, rather than game-tying.

Pryor can't throw to save his life. Seemed like all the big gains were thrown by Boeckman. (I only saw the second half, BTW.)

If you must include yourselves (you and cartman) in that group, I suppose I agree overall. That said, I think the poor history is despite the positive contributions you and cartman make to the board as football fans (and in general). Personally for me at least, any lingering Longhorns asshattedness is not (nor should be) attached to either of you.

Nice to see a good game tonight. Hopefully we will get another one on Thursday.

What I don't get is why you don't throw a couple of quick slants to get to the 35-40 yard line and use your 3 timeouts, and at least give your strong-legged kicker a chance to tie it up with :01 left or something. :11 is plenty of time for 2 10-yard quick slants.

Tressel really pissed me off last night. Boeckman was so obviously the go-to guy in that game, because Texas' secondary was terrible. Pryor looked like he had barely played in 2 months. Almost all of his throws were off his back foot or just plain off-target. I don't know if he was hearing the Texas DL footsteps, or if he's just really that bad at throwing.

If Wells stays, OSU should be the favorite in the Big Ten again next year. If not, the O-line and entire defense will almost all be new starters, and it will be hard for OSU to win it.

Yeah, Boeckman seemed to be the clearly better option if the Buckeyes wanted to have success throwing the ball.

In the end, it worked out just about perfect for me. OSU didn't make the Big Ten look bad, but still lost. Win, win.

I think the Big Ten could be wide open next year. Penn State loses 3/5ths of it's OLine...all of its WR...secondary...so they will not be as strong. Michigan will be better but not quite that strong. If Wisconsin can find a QB they might be good, same with Illinois. If Michigan State can replace Ringer they might contend.

It might be a year where Minnesota or Northwestern sneak up and win the title.

The roblemm with playing beokhman the whole game was shown in clear view on the final drive. beokmahn (god I hate that fuckers name) is a boulder in the pocket. He'd have been beaten into a pulp by the texas pass rush and we'd have been blown out of the game entirely. Pryor at least forced them to stay honest and let our offense try and make plays.

I hate the two QB shufle, but in this situation it really was the best way to go.

The Buckeyes have always had top talent at RB, O-line and defense. the only place hey've almost utterly failed at is QB.

Put a top flight NFL prospect on this team this season and nobody touches Ohio State. Its just damned frustrating that we can't seem to land one. Tressel's conservative approach is definitely a reason for that too.

Ahh well. 5 straight over Mishitgan is reason enough to be happy as a Buckey fan right now.

edit: I apparently have lost the ability to type pretty much anything properly.....

Jeez, you butcher Boeckman's name.

Most the people I've heard talking haven't watch OSU play much to see that the O-line isn't capable of pass protecting. If we had a decent OL I think Pryor would've never been a starter but they had to go in that direction to make up for the inadequate line play. Texas tee'd off on him last night when he was in there.

When is the last time we had a bonified NFL offensive lineman? Mangold is about the only one in the last how many years?

The O-line will be an upgrade next year, the defense won't be too bad. We don't lose that much on defense outside of Jenkins, Sabino should come in and make us forget about Lauranitis in no time.

Well we're down to the final two bowl games, with the biggie coming up Thursday Night in Miami (BSU/Tulsa should be a entertaining one tonight btw).

I would guess that if either UF or OU wins in a blowout, the debate concerning the true National Champion will be at least somewhat muted, but what happens if it's a close ballgame? Better yet, a ugly, close ballgame? Any thoughts on the possibilites of the AP Poll in this scenario?

USC, although the best team in the country IMHO, has way too far to leap in the poll, so I count them out.

Utah? Even though they are ranked down there with USC, their victory over a Alabama team in the heart of SEC Country was the most impressive performance among this year's big time bowl games participants period. And as we all know, they are the only team that hasn't been defeated.

Texas? After the performance against OSU last night, if OU doesn't beat Florida there really is no argument. But what if the Sooners win?

But the bottom line for the Silly Ass World of Big Time College Football in four words... Where's the $%#@%^&^ Tournament?

Texas suffers because Mack Brown won't run up the score. He could have hung 60 on the Buckeyes last night if he wanted to.

Hang 60? He barely hung the points he needed to beat them. One blown coverage away from getting a loss hung on him.
