Well, I'm fielding calls, but most of the teams say I won't go until tomorrow. What are you hearing?

Good value pick for Miami, and it makes sense for Parcells.

Can't believe he is still out there. He will be the posterboy for NOT returning for you senior season. He was a top 5 last year. |

Thank God the Dolphins didn't waste another high pick on a QB. They're not going to win this year anyway. Give Beck more time and see how he does. Draft a potential guy down the line, like a Dennis Dixon. Re-visit this next year. That's the way to go. And spend high draft talent on positions that aren't almost always automatic reaches in the first two rounds outside of the Top Five (and sometimes there, too).

Packers moved #30 for #36 and #113 (mid 4th). Not bad value (esp when you consider the money saved).

Avery? Did I miss something? I don't see him drafted anywhere. Is online slow to update? I have ESPN on, but I'm not really paying attention to it (and it's commercials right now).

I love the pick. We have a nice young secondary to go with a monster pass rush, if we can get some LB depth in the next few rounds I would be thriilled. What I would really love is to see Shockey traded for some picks so we can do that. |

WR Jordy Nelson to GB. Not sure what to think of it, but GB has 3 third round picks and they need a speed WR for the slot.

Yeah, Jackson to the Rams was spot on. Exactly the sorta guy they stick into the slot. I see Avery has speed to burn. Looking at him more closely, I don't see he is much off of what Jackson brings you. Still, to pass up a BCS guy (much less a Sweed or Thomas) for Avery is a shock.

Everyone thought Greg Jennings was a wasted pick too. Ted's built a division champ team with the last 3 drafts.

It really is like the teams drafting WRs don't realize that all the top WRs are still on the board.

I loved Jennings. The problem is GB could do a lot more for their team by getting some more help on D. Dexter Jackson or Renauld from WVU are better options for slot WR's you can get in the 5th or 6th. |

Long as Detroit fans are around, I have to know.
My view from not being as familiar with them, but generally familiar with the league, is that they would want to improve a defense that was dead last in the NFL. Then I realize they released Kevin Jones (how on Earth did I miss that?!?), so it made sad sense for them to get Mendenhall (defense is awful, but you have just about no one at RB). And then they draft an OL? And you guys are all cool with that? So that's why I am figuring I must be out of touch with Detroit. Is their line really that phenomenally bad, that they would pass up several good RBs and a slew of strong defensive choices to make a line pick?

I stand corrected, GB got a possession guy for the slot to play off the speed of Jennings. We'll see how the draft plays out but a 6-3, 220 guy with great hands seems like a nice addition for GB - esp when you throw in 2 Punt returns for TDs last season. Here's Scouts.incs writeup:
"While he lacks elite speed and athleticism, Nelson is quicker than people seem to think and he simply knows how to separate and make plays... it wouldn't shock us if Nelson spends 10-plus productive seasons in the NFL as a possession No. 2 or No. 3 receiver." |
