I've got a name that I might force in on the last round just for fun. I really don't know if he qualifies for the category I'd put him in or not, but he can't be any worse than Dave Taylor at power forward.

Gotta go with someone young with my next pick mostly because he is a one team guy.

6.10 Ed Jovanovski (Flo, Van, Pho) - Big Hitter

"Jovanovski is bar none the hardest hitter in the game," Rangers center Mark Messier says. "I saw players on our team come to the bench bent over in pain last season."

"I enjoy a good hit more than scoring," Jovanovski says. "You can feel it throughout your body--the sound the rush, the wind leaving another man's body. I'm a frustrated goal scorer, basically. Goal scorers don't want to be hit, but they get to celebrate their goals. I don't get to score every game, so I celebrate this way."

Well you should say "Damn Oilers9911!" because I had Phaneuf pegged since the second I finished taking Blake. I thought he was gonna slip through... and then DENIED!!

Yeah, strategy in this game has kicked my ass.

I was going to pick Taylor as a PF if he had been around. Great pick.

Phaneuf was going to be my hitter if I didn't get Konstantinov.

I had planned on Daneyko at Lockdown defenceman, for some reason I thought he'd be around until the end. I'm really struggling now to find someone for that spot, because aside from the absolutely brilliant ones, those defensive defenceman are hard to remember.

The crazy thing is I still have Montreal and Toronto to work with, so you'd think I'd have all kinds of guys to choose from... but I can't find a good one that didn't also play for one of the other 4 Original Six teams.

This draft is awesome

I couldn't think of any "older" hitters so I went with a young player who has played with only one team. He has scored 30 goals this season so at least he's not one dimensional.

My reasoning is that I haven't been taking WHL teams out and I'd like not to start a headache with people complaining that if they would've known that from the beginning they would've selected different.

I wish that was made public.

I purposly read the rules a few times and it doesn't say anywhere yopu can't take non NHLers, it merely says hockey players/ coaches.

It happened this morning...and I really havent had much time to chat on the board with work. I know it doesn't exactly say it in the rules but the whole time we have been talking NHL teams. The main reason I didn't say anything about it is because I didn't think anyone else would try to do it.

your not an asshole, it's just frustrating to pick a guy like Heatly out of position, then get blasted for it then be told my next pick won't count despite there being nothing in the rules to the contrary.

Oh I don't know if he would've done it. We just exchanged a couple of PMs (before he was in the draft), because I was wondering who he had in mind as being shocked that they weren't taken yet. And he mentioned Tretiak as a possible goalie selection in the later rounds.

7.10 Ilya Kovalchuk (sniper) Atl

Kovalhuck has 459 points in 456 career games. He was 250 goals in that time. Since scoring 29 goals in his impressive rookie year, Kovalchuk has scored at least 38 goals or more in each of his 5 seasons in the league. He plays with passion and a physical edge. He lead the league in goals in 2004 and won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy that year.

The problem with Tretiak is that the rule states:
Quote:
Once you draft a player from a team, you cannot draft another player from that team or any other team he played for the rest of the draft.
It doesn't say "NHL teams", but that's the way we've been treating it. But if you allow Tretiak as a pick, do you say he played for no teams? That doesn't seem right. Or do you count, say, CSKA Moscow? If you do, now I've got a conflict with Pavel Bure. But if we're counting non-NHL teams then shouldn't AHL or other pro teams count too? And on down the slippery slope you go.

I think it's a fair ruling to say we're looking at NHL players.

I was planning to take Tretiak in round 9 (assuming no one else did first). MikeVic alluded to my defense: Bobby Hull is counting against my Winnipeg Jets even though he never played for them in the NHL. And believe me, that's affected my selections to this point (possibly for the better, because I'm certain that guys like Hawerchuk or Numminen mean more to me and MikeVic than they do to everyone else).
