No, I'm saying - did you ever start a new league and then delete it by deleting the league folder? If so, try manually creating a new folder in your OOTP directory called LeagueName.lg (where LeagueName = the last league you may have started successfully).
Hell, even if you haven't deleted any leagues, try it. It worked for me when I had the EXACT same problem as you.

I did manually delete some league files. However, I do not remember the last name of the league i saved succesfully.

That's definitely your problem then, I think.
Re-installing the game would definitely correct the issue. If that's not something you want to do, then try your best to remember the name of that league file. Or, at least try to just make a new gmae called "NewGame.lg". But a re-install may be in order. Fortunately, that would surely correct the problem.

Why is that my fault? That is nothing but the developers fault. I should have freedom to remove/delete leagues at my own will if I so choose to without the game crashing.
Sorry if this came off the wrong way, but I can not see how this could be my fault. |

He didn't say it was your fault, did he?
By the way, does anyone else get a chuckle out of the available players for the draft report? You know, the draft "entrees"?

I'm pretty sure he meant that's your problem as in that's what's causing the game to crash. I don't see how the tone of his posts to you could possibly indicate his sentence should be interpreted negatively.

Given the context of the post (i.e., someone being nice enough to try to help you), I think any reasonable human being would read that as, "I am pretty sure that what is causing the problem you are having is...". It's a slang phrase - surely you've heard it before.

I'm not thrilled with the game at first glance either. Probably, honestly, the first game I haven't spent an hour with right off the bat.
The new interface seems 'weird' to me. I don't like the new text format, and would love to be able to change it. After I loaded the cbl roster set and the ballpark set as well, nearly all the players were located in the stands. Had a lot of fun fixing that, let me tell you. It's likely to be that way on every stadium, so I'll have to go in and fix that (I'll do so as I come to them). Any hoo, I don't like cbl's roster set either. I'm a Cardinal fan, and started out with them. If you have the computer manage the lineup (which I do to see what they would suggest and the change to what I think), Jim Edmonds ends up in left field, Ray Lankford in center. Roger Cedeno and Reggie Sanders platoon in right field, while fifth outfielder So Taguchi is remarkably in a platoon with Marlon Anderson at second base. While the actual starting second baseman Tony Womack rides the bench. Bah. Anyone know of a 'different' roster set that I could use?

I hope to give the game an in-depth test this weekend. Right now, all I've done is set up a league and sim about 15 years of history. I'll probably sim at least another 50 years, then pick a team to run.

Or a new Cardinals manager who realizes Womack sucks Seriously, the lineup you posted from CBL's roster set is a better lineup than the one the real Cardinals use. Dont let Tony fool you with his semi hot start. Take a look at his career stats where his career high in OPS is .702. Last edited by Danny : 04-23-2004 at 08:27 AM. |

Has anyone else noticed a problem with the computer constantly moving your rightfielder to left field (where his range is not as a good and his rifle arm is waisted) and wanting to put in much weaker hitter and fielder in right? (The computer also will not allow Chipper play in LF, but that is just wisdom ).

Gee whiz.
I freaking diagnose your problem, offer an explanation why it may have happened, and give a solution on how to fix it. And what happens? Not only do I not get a thank you, I get accused of somehow defending OOTP and being a jerk.

Small something I've noticed ...
American League-Player of the Week:
CF Leon Beasley (ANA)! He batted .464 in 28 AB, with 1 HR and 12 RBI. National League-Player of the Week: LF Daniel Shuck (ANA)! He batted .480 in 25 AB, with 4 HR and 9 RBI. Also, in the news report it reads ... "The Player of the Week Award in the American League goes to Anaheim's Leon Beasley, this time." Then, when it announces what should be the National League award it reads "The Player of the Week Award in the American League goes to Anaheim's Daniel Shuck this time." Only, Danny is playing for the Braves I looked at Shuck's report, he has not been traded released or put on waivers so as to confuse the computer, it just decided it had a bias for the Anaheim Angels. Just thought I'd point this out, first time I've seen it so far.

I was going to type up a list of errors that I've seen in the PbP and News report...but my browser refreshed, and I completely lost a good page of details for the folks at OOTPDevelopments to check out.
I'm sure QuikSand would have a heart attack if he saw some of the stories in the 'news' section of the game.

There's an easier way to realign the stadiums. Go to League Setup, Edit Ballpark, Convert Coordinates to OOTP6 (bottom right), Test Coordinates (to see if they are now realigned), if they are then click assign these coordinates to all ballparks. Every ballpark pic should now fit correctly. Last edited by TazFTW : 04-23-2004 at 12:56 PM. |

I meant Tony Womack NOT Tony Larussa. That should have been obvious since I dont see how posting he had a .702 career high OPS would be relevant for Larussa .

There is talk about the "socialist" tendencies of computer GMs on the OOTP board. In short, they are annoyed that the CPU GM's won't spend their money and therefore don't pick up what they need. I run a very slow, play every game league, so I was wondering if any of you had noticed this problem...

The starting pitcher issue is fixed, but relievers are still getting into a tad too many games. Not a huge issue, but I don't think we'll ever see guys pitching 105-110 games per season on a regular basis. My guess is these are relievers with a high endurance rating who, instead of being used as long relievers, are pitching one inning a game and have plenty of endurance left to pitch multiple back-to-back games.
Also, browsing through the lists on the Almanac page, I came across this in the No-Hitters list: 6/23/2014, Samuel Caldera (LV), 14 K, 0 BB (PERFECT GAME!) 7/2/2014, Samuel Caldera (LV), 17 K, 0 BB (PERFECT GAME!) 8/17/2014, Daniel Alvarez (ORL), 9 K, 3 BB 8/30/2014, Samuel Caldera (LV), 14 K, 5 BB Not a bad 2-month run. In case you're wondering, in his start between the 2 perfect games, he pitched 5 shutout innings, giving up 4 hits.

Just saw my first tonight for any version of ootp (I'm using v5).
The Detroit Tigers took a 22yr old 3B 1st overall in the draft and he's starting right away. This far in 27 games, he has a 0.318 BA, 5 HR's and 13 RBI's. His talent ratings are GOOD\BRILLANT\BRILLANT. Anyone see something like this before? Todd |

For the computer? Or in general?
In an online league I'm in, by 1st round/4th overall pick is starting. At the age of 19, in his first pro season, he is my starting first baseman. After 74 games he is .256/.324/.441 (all above league average) with 12 HR and 47 RBI. http://jobl.end-on-end.com/FTP/p593.html |

Ok, I set up a 12 team league, im running every team. I set it to human manage all teams and went ahead and did my full league dispersal draft, now when i go to the team pages the lineups are already filled and players have been moved around the minor leagues, very damn annoying. I have finances, coaches and simulate minor league all disabled and they have been since the league started. Is the computer gonna randomly move people around on me even though I have control of all teams?

I'm trying to sim a league starting in 1902 but I'm running into a problem getting realistic HR totals out of Ruth. He imported with a 90 contact, 100 Power, and 100 eye, but so far he has 61 total HR and a .265 career avg in 4 seasons, and he hasn't had any injuries.
How is it I adjust the league totals to get some decent numbers out him? |
