I had to dig that one of me and kiddo

He was about 24 hours old on that pic, born on January 15th. He's now 4 and half months old and he just learned to roll over by himself yesterday

Life is good, treasure it guys

My best friend's brother is an actor. He's had several parts in TV and film. His high-point so far was a recurring role as Agent Crane on X-Files (final couple seasons). He's also been in Minority Report (one of Tom Cruise's team), and several other shows and lesser films. Pretty cool.

Thanks guys. Kid is getting huge. He is already 12 lbs and 22 inches long and he is only a month and a week old.

Overall this has to be one of the coolest thread. I didn't know we had an actor in the house. It is also nice to see those pictures above giving his dad support by shaving himself bald. And it has been a trip seeing how young some of these posters are? Geez. Plus I didn't realize there were that many black people on this board, plus 1 Filipino to boot. And the number of daddys (not sugar daddys, I mean fathers) is amazing. Overall a pretty good thread. Congrats to all who are sharing their world.

Well, like I said, I didn't do it, but I've been thinking about practicing. I use Paint Shop Pro, and I would imagine that it doesn't take much more than colorizing and using a decent grunge brush to fool with the background. I'll figure it out sometime.

Another. Starting to get the hang of it, but it's still missing a few things. I keep looking at Snatch pics and then what I'm doing and it's just off.

the thing we're missing is there's a stark contrast in light and dark - the shade is completely dark and the light areas of the face are really light. i don't know what effect they're using. i think perhaps some sort of combo of contrast/darkening the pic. i never saw the the Snatch style faces so i don't hae a reference to go off by.

Yeah, I tried like hell to get that contrast, but I just couldn't get it right. I'm by no means a Photoshop expert, so I know I'm just doing it wrong, and the only way for me to get it right is to keep just playing with it or for someone to show me how. I don't know any people good with photoshop, so it leaves me with just one option. TO mess around until I get it right.

Great job, sabotai, considering that you're kinda winging it. How are you doing the backgrounds? Grunge brushes? And where are you finding the stars?

One star I took off some random image I found. The star on Neuqua's and Shorty's is the star off your pic. You can also use one of the graphic fonts for a star if there is one. I think wingdings 2 has a star, but not sure.

For Shorty and Flasch, I used grunge brushes. I don't remember where I got them (they were for photoshop), but all I did to find them was go to google and searched Photoshop Grunge Brush. If you're using a different program, just google the name of your program and grunge brush.

And Nequa's background, I used a filter (Sponge) and an image of a rock formation set to Multiply (which gives the image its texture).

EDIT: The very first thing I do is Desaturate it. I cut the face out, copy it to a new image and then desaturate it.

Contrast. But don't do it a lot at once. I basically do it in small steps about 4 or 5 times.
