The entire CBS booth is annoying. I can't even understand what Shannon Sharpe is saying. Boomer kept saying that stupid "All Big Ben does is win and win and win" nonsense. Of course he wins a lot of games, he'll throw 3 picks but they'll still win because they have the best defense in the league.

I thought it was pretty funny how the rest of the analysts were picking on him when he still rated Andre Johnson over Fitzgerald at WR. Other than Dan Marino, I really like that pregame show more than the ones on the other networks

I think Shannon Sharpe is hilarious. He's there much more for the comedy/lighter side of things than real analysis

There's a lot of talk about teams worse than 10-6 to get this deep, but I think there's a bit of a common theme aside from the birds nicknames for the supposedly underdogs gettings this far:

* The Cardinals were 8-5 when they secured their division, with about 0 chance to get a bye. Weeks 15-17 were basically pre-post-season for them. Their offense has been hard to stop in most of their games, they've just been very inconsistent against strong opponents.

* The Eagles have blown away their opponents in most wins, while all but one of their losses were by a single score. And that only blow out loss was when they pulled McNabb at half time, trailing 10-7 at Baltimore.

* The Chargers are not your average 8-8 team. Seven of their losses were by a single score. Six of their regular season wins were by two or more scores.

* The Ravens got blown away twice this season, by the Colts and Giants. Their three other losses were by 4 or less points. All but one of their wins have been by two or more scores.

I'm not sure what it shows of these teams, especially the last three, but personally I found it interesting. All three have proven to be hard to beat and shown the ability to dominate when the other team isn't playing well. Yeah, I know, score lines aren't all there is, it can't be that simple to analyse football teams, can it?

If the Chargers keep this up, Big Ben won't be able to rely on his defense to win this one.

At first I thought Ben just threw that.

Weird how his punts look like a lot of his throws.

Complete sidenote: anyone else get the feeling that Tomlin is going to be not just a good coach, but a great one? They don't generally make mistakes hiring head coaches in Stiller town.

If he coaches half as well as he grooms his beard, he'll be Canton bound.

I do.

The guy talks and he just SOUNDS like a head coach. Like he wasn't born to do anything else.

He's younger than quite a few players in the NFL and yet, he's the real deal.

if the chargers win i will officially be happy with any of the remaining teams winning.

i'm anti-steelers -- i feel like big ben is consistently overhyped by the announcers. he is the "new bret favre" in that way

Agreed.

I love Ben and the Steelers, but I can understand the sentiment. But, at the same time, I still appreciate him with all of the steaming piles of dogcrap we have had at QB over the past 25-years (Malone, Brister, Stewart, O'Donnell, Stewart, Graham, Stewart, Maddox), when we have often-times had Super Bowl-calibre defenses.
