#16 was too high for Olson, and I'm not sure TT could justify going QB in the 1st for the 2nd time in 3 years, especially with his previous 1st-round QB pick still on the roster.

Going defense in the 1st round sure puts a lot of pressure on Ted Thompson to get the Moss deal done - or at least to find good receiving value in the next few rounds.

By putting Harrell there, GB now has a very good front 7 and some depth at DT.

GB still has feelers out for Moss, LJ and Turner. Plus, there's a ton of value at RB, WR, TE and safety in rounds 2-4. The DT pool in this draft was pretty shallow.

Thank you for agreeing with me.

Arlie, I'd like to point out that Olsen ran a sub 4.5 at the combine.

Speed isn't his issue, he's an average blocker, his problem is consistently catching the football. He lacks concentration and drops a lot of passes despite having good hands.

His YPC was 11.7 - that's pretty rough for an elite TE and he had just 1 TD. He may have 40 time but he couldn't beat many people for big plays in college - that doesn't translate well in the NFL. PLus, a TE in GB has to be a good blocker.

Olsen can be best described as the best TE in a very weak TE draft class.

If he was not before, he is after meeting the Dolphin draft party for the fans

http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/89925.html

Quote:
From the article
At the Dolphins' draft party for fans, held in the practice bubble adjacent to the Dolphins offices, fans booed and chanted, "Bra-dy! Bra-dy!'' before many streamed for the exit. There was the same response to new Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron stepped up to a podium to address what fans remained.

Amidst boos and some cheers, Cameron thanked the fans for attending. Then, he said what he had two weeks ago in his pre-draft press conference - he's known the family for a decade, has confidence in Ginn as a person because he's impressed with Ted Ginn, Sr., head coach at Cleveland Glenville High School.

Cameron waited for chants of "Bra-dy! Bra-dy!'' to die down before stating, "Ted Ginn is a Miami Dolphin. Ted Ginn is someone you're going to be proud of. Ted Ginn and his family will give us everything they've got."

You know it. Actually, I'm kind of hoping Romeo calls up BB to make a trade for 24 or 28 to get Quinn, and the Pats drop to 35 and pick up a third, or second next year for their troubles. Then they package that third with a 4th or some 6ths to get into the second round with it.

Umm what does Ginn's family have to do with winning football games or taking snaps under center?

Romeo might not be the first coach fired after all.

Heh.

From NFL.com's Prospect Profile on Harrell:

"Compares To: Johnny Jolly, Green Bay. Jolly might not have played much in 2006, but Harrell has that same explosion off the snap that lets both occupy multiple blockers. Harrell plays with the strength needed to take up space, and while he lacks sustained speed, he does explode off the ball. He needs to develop a better feel for the ball and must be more active with his hands. His main job is clogging and constricting the inside rush lanes, but he must create better separation with his hands if he hopes to improve his pass rushing skills. For a team looking for a plugger in the middle, Harrell could be the answer, if he is recovered from his torn biceps."
-------------

Don't we already have a Johnny Jolly? And didn't we draft him in the 6th round?

I'm excited that the Jags might use my FOF strategy of trading down six times in the first round for a ton of mid-round picks.

We'll see if they also follow my strategy of then drafting crappy guys with those mid-round picks and wishing they had just used their first.

You think Jerry Jones is just screaming at his coaches to get Quinn right now just for the media-ness of it?

I figure Pats will take Meachum if he's still on the board or Posluszny if he is.

Or, a TE, if they want to stay with tradition.

Don't agree. I think it's CB Chris Houston if still there, or go with LB David Harris or DE/OLB Lamar Woodley. No way it's a TE of Olson's quality.

Oh heck yeah. Without batting an eyelash. Especially since Cleveland probably won't be that great this year anyway.

That said, Cleveland is probably smart to try to make this deal.

Unfortunately it's bad news for my hopes that former W&M QB Lang Campbell might finally crack the Browns regular season roster this year.

Sucks for Quinn. Not only does he lose out on a ton of cash by falling, but he still goes to a team with no talent.
