BL was eighth with 100m to go but made one of her charges past horse after horse. She was just too far back, however, to win and finished second to Eolie de Suede.
Imperatrice was fourth, even with Eolie, at the 300m mark but, while the winner surged, Imperatrice did not and finished 4 lengths back in fifth.

Lodeso made a very strong comeback from his last place finish the previous race, winning fairly easily with a strong stretch run.

Little had the greatest day Almighty Farms has seen since the early races run by BL. She shot to such a large lead it was literally half the race before any in the field caught her. Then in the final 500m, she made a run for the books, winning the race by an astounding 16 lengths (it was so far back to second, we aren't really sure) and a 2 second lead at the wire- an eternity for these fast animals. WOW!!

Making it a sweep for our 2-year olds, Berry ran a clean race, leading wire-to-wire over a fairly weak field to win by 2 1/2 lengths.

7-03-05: Race 4- Irish Derby

Though this is the Derby (Colonel Almighty is 50% Irish by birth), we didn't feel like stacking the race with our stock due to the venue. As you may recall, Ascot track has an ungodly angled turn that turns a deficit of a neck into several lengths if not on the rail. So we sent Feline and Ursulo to show our colors. Feline ran well, finishing second while Ursulo lost 4 lengths on the turn and finished well back, as, unfortunately, has been his m.o. this season.

We know, as maybe you do, that Ascot is a crappy track at which to run, but there isn't much to choose from in the weeks at this time in the season, so we figure we might get lucky on the post draw with all 6 of our International 3-year olds in the race.

7-31-05: Race 1- King Georges VI

Hoping for good post position draw with 6 entries turned out not to be a good strategy. Only Imperatrice with gate #3, and, to a lesser extent, BL, with post #6, got a decent draw, meaning the other 4 had little luck and, as it was run, little chance. Imperatrice got on the rail first out of the gate with BL fifth. BL lost several lengths around the impossibly angled turn while Imperatrice, on the rail, gained the advantage over the field and went on to beat BL by a head.

I really have no idea why this is called an invitational, as any horse alive and at International level can enter, but apparently it's the place to be as a full field of 20 mounts are entered. Almighty Farms has some luck in the post position area, for a change, as our 3 entries are lined up next to each other in boxes #3-#5. Imperatrice takes advantage while the other two do not, especially dickwad Ursulo, who puts in another crappy showing. Imperatrice wins her 2nd straight major race while Feline slips into a payday with a sixth place finish.

8-21-05: Race 1- Arlington 'Million'

Every now and then in this world (game), things work out just the way you see them in your mind. This was one of those times. BL had a nice #4 post position but PT was stuck outside in the #12 spot (out of 15). However, PT sprinted to the rail immediately, passing all other entries, including BL, in a flash. Down the stretch, however, PT could not hold off the famous BL burst to the wire and BL took the race by 1/2 length over her stablemate.

There are only 12 entries in the race with Lodeso coming out of gate #6. Unfortunately, he gets a horrid start, falling back as far as tenth. He has enough to make a charge to the lead but falters in the final 100m, finishing second.

For the second time this month, Berry runs her race 2 seconds slower than another Almighty Farms horse and does better. She wins this one easily, aided by another low allowance in a handicapper. Of course, the more she wins in these easy races, the more she would have to carry in another handicap race. We'll see how that goes, based on the interval of gains for her next effort.

9-04-05: Race 1- Grand Prix Von Baden

Never having run in Germany, we decided to give Ursulo a shot by himself as the purse is a bit small to pay the freight to shipping for more of our stock and we didn't think it of high enough prestige for BL or PT. Anyway, it was a very strong field of 15 with Ursulo posted out of gate #2. He showed well for a change and we were pleased with his third place finish- a great improvement on the crappy finishing he has shown all year to this point.

Another wonderful day at the races. PT started from post position #5 while Imperatrice came out of gate #7. Both had excellent jumps from the gate and were in the mix immediately. They took over down the back stretch and could not be caught this day, finishing one/two, 2 1/2 lengths up on the field with PT taking the win over Imperatrice by 3/4.

We have now caught up with where we are at the present time. We will have an announcement forthcoming as to the future efforts for this saga.


Also, we have come across yet 2 more problems with the program.

1. We tried to put Ursulo up for auction but when the auction he should have been in came up, according to what the game told us, he was not in the listing.
2. We also tried to buy some stock through the supposed ability to go to claiming races and put in bids. When taken to the races in question, we were not shown any screen to put in a bid, nor is there any documentation available that would let us know how we should have done it, if you assume we somehow missed something.
